Sixth.
NIGHTMARE. Riley has been largely absent for the past day; he's needed the time, he's said, to try to sort out what should be done about Darkrai and Cresselia. Whether they can be contacted from a safe distance; whether there's something he can do to ensure that there's no risk to the rest of you. You fall asleep on Friday night. You don't remember deciding to fall asleep on Friday night; perhaps you were in the middle of doing something. Perhaps you were keeping watch over the rest of the group, perhaps you were talking to someone, perhaps you were unable to drift off and sitting up poring over notes or books by flashlight. Perhaps you were already well asleep by the time it happens. Either way, Friday night begins to slip into what's technically Saturday, and that's when you drop off. And you are, quite literally, falling. The sensation is a strong one, somehing that disorients you almost immediately, the sort of thing that happens in dreams only to be accompanied by a hypnic jerk that wakes you up safely in your bed, only that moment of awakening never comes. The landing isn't a hard one, however, wherever you've ended up; it's one you're aware of, but not one that hurts you in any way, there's no physical pain. There's only you, and the ground, and the absolute darkness surrounding you. You should get up. Get your bearings. The darkness won't last long, but what it reveals to you when it breaks might not be as welcome as you might think it is... |

That place is mine. Intruders were there. Now they aren't.

And what is it you've seen of us through that?

You wanted to meet us. I needed to meet you first.

[Unlike some people. Ignis cleared his throat and straightened up, some of the tension leaving him in favor of careful formality.]
We wish to save this world along with its people, and fight against the one who struggles to rewrite and erase that which makes it worth living in. I hope that is now clear to you, regardless of whether or not we're a bit shaken by your methods.
It is to that end we request your help, and that of Cresselia as we already have with the three guardians of the lakes. Please, will you grant us that?

[No hesitation, of course.]
We're all in agreement that what he's doing is wrong, and that this world can't be allowed to languish in this way so long as we have the will to fight against it.

The world was created without spirit. Spirit is something that is. Something that will be. It is not something to be destroyed or torn away.
What he does is destruction only for its sake. He cannot be allowed to continue.

But we need assistance, for our strength alone simply isn't enough. We require the guardians, you and Cresselia, and any other force or deity we can reach out to.

...
which is sound logic tbh]
Assistance can be given.

Thank you. [He offered a slight but respectful bow, mostly because hey, let's be polite to the helpful nightmare god.] We find ourselves in your debt, and will endeavor to hold to this path until the world has broken free from what Cyrus has done to it.

How much danger would helping us put you in?

[...that's how it goes right]

I'm grateful. Especially since if all goes well, the reward is more than worth it. But if it goes wrong, I want to be prepared for what could happen. There has to a reason why you never tried this before, right?
[Darkrai just confessed to being curious about the commanders, as the only ones with spirit left who could still dream. Why would he entertain his curiosity with them, but not Cyrus?]
