WEEK 16 The world continues to stagnate. It's an undeniable truth, one that's more or less a constant in your lives; you can see it in the people and the Pokémon both, even after you arrive in Oreburgh City. The same blank stares and behind-the-eyes deadness that Cyrus' new world brought with it are everywhere, difficult to ignore and impossible to escape. However little the people are interested in you, however, they are still present, and with Darkrai and Cresselia having agreed to help you, that has to count for something; with both dream deities and the Lake Guardians, perhaps hope hasn't faded - perhaps spirit can still be restored to the world, as long as there's a world left to restore it to. That isn't to say, however, that the city itself holds nothing for you; there's a fair amount to see here, and a few things to explore if you're so inclined to do so; the mines in particular are open to the south, and extends far beneath the region. Take care not get lost, should you venture in. [For anyone else around in the lobby, it's pretty hard to miss that outburst. Eustace can't help but feel a little awkward, like he has just accidentally eavesdropped on something he shouldn't have.

And yet...he'll slowly approach.]

Something wrong with Jane Doe?

[That looked pretty bad, bro.]

Beats me. She's being completely irrational.

[Michael folds his arms and leans back against the table. He's trying to look unruffled; he just looks really irritated.]

[thunderwolf]

[He's making an Attempt, at least.]

About what?

[Eustace may as well be upfront about his curiosity here.]

[well, Michael doesn't seem to consider it a personal moment]

I just wanted to give her away to someone else so she'd evolve! That's how it's triggered, for some reason.

[thunderwolf]

Oh. That explains what you were saying.

[He crosses his arms, thoughtful.]

I don't get those kinds of evolutions either. Apparently Bolt evolves like that too, and needs to hold an item in the process.

[It's stupid?? ...but right, this is about Jane Doe.]

Guess she doesn't like the idea of being traded off, even if it's a temporary thing.

Well, that's stupid! Someone else holds her Pokeball for a few seconds, and then it's done. It doesn't matter.

[thunderwolf]

Is it actually that simple? I've been under the impression that the process is more involved.

[He's not here to argue whether Jane's beliefs are stupid or not.]

Pretty much what happened with Ky. He freaked out too, but I didn't tell him I was doing it first. So that made a little more sense.

Huh.

[The more you know.

He gives a thoughtful pause.]

That angle's probably not gonna work on her now, then. That why you decided to just bring it up to her?

Yeah. Thought it'd be easier. Clearly I should've just done it the other way, dealt with her later.

[thunderwolf]

You'd probably just end up with more trust issues on your team.

[But he'll actually give a helpful addition to that, promise-]

Do you know the exact reason she doesn't want to be traded? If it is a trust thing, maybe she'll feel better if you traded with someone she trusts to give her right back.

[eudaimonikos]

It's not like anyone here's just gonna steal a Pokemon.

[What are we, Team Rocket?]

[thunderwolf]

I know. [Give him some credit here, Michael...] But the alternative is she actually thinks you're going to abandon her.

[eudaimonikos]

All I said was that I'd give her to someone else for a second!

[probably give Michael somewhat less credit on this tbh]

And that she'd evolve!
