Week 17.

WEEK 17

There are disturbances in Veilstone.

Although perhaps saying that there are disturbances in Veilstone is understating it; the first thing that's going to be immediately noticeable is the fact that there are few to no people outside of their residences. They're still there, they're definitely present in town, and it doesn't look like Team Galactic has done any mass recruitment recently; at the same time, they don't seem inclined to leave their homes unless their task is absolutely necessary.

The reasons why will soon become apparent, the longer you remain in the city; soft bursts of force will ripple across the city from time to time, and every time they do something shifts. The edges of buildings will suddenly decay, aging before your eyes into something that seems to have been abandoned for years; sometimes parts of the streets will vanish as you walk, turning into something hard and rocky, seemingly still untouched by human intervention. Occasionally the leaves will turn bright colors and drop off of the trees, only to regrow anew again almost immediately.

Perhaps most tellingly is the fact that your concept of the passage of time is no longer entirely halted - you're aware that time is certainly passing, though it's difficult to say in what direction. It's obvious now more than ever that time exists in a sort of fourth dimension, coming at the world from a different angle entirely to the more planar space that you're still not certain you're perceiving correctly; throughout all of this, the Team Galactic base remains sealed.

Whatever it is you're going to do about this, you might want to formulate a plan of some sort this week.

Oh, truly.

[Alright, let's see...Melady seems eager, at least, so she tries it out on her first.]

Dear, show us how it's done, hm? Double Team.

[And just like that, she seems quick to split into multiple selves--so quick that it actually takes Camilla aback.]

...Oh, that's beautiful. It'll certainly confuse and confound our dear opponents!

Helps if you can get out a couple of those in a row. All the copies double themselves too, it's - it's actually really obnoxious.

Really now? Oh, the confusing and confounding that will make...

[Do do do, get this on Glameow, on Drifblim...]

Do they simply disappear when hit, then? I can imagine that would certainly make for one beautiful game of cat and mouse, with enough of those under their metaphorical belts.
eudaimonikos: (no exit)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-09-30 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, they can't hold up to more than one hit. Lets you get some attacks in while they're getting rid of all the fakes, though.

Only thing is, some Pokemon can see right through them. Like Quaver - that's actually the reason I caught him. I wanted to know why. [Shrug] Didn't actually figure it out until I read through Lucas's Pokedex. Some bird Pokemon have that ability. Something about their keen eyesight.

[personal profile] anythingforyou 2018-10-02 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
That is quite intriguing. I suppose it would make sense for an avian species to be able to make out what the true copy was--anything that can see from the air must have the ability to discern such things with great skill, in order to find prey, after all.

[Hmm.]

I suppose if anyone uses a similar strategy, then Quaver would do quite well in shutting them down before they get nasty.
eudaimonikos: (if I don't make it on the list)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-02 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, yeah. Though the wild ones don't do it as much - I think it takes a trainer to really put together strategies like that. Given the people we deal with, he might not be strong enough, in the end...
anythingforyou: (🌹 Thirty eight.)

[personal profile] anythingforyou 2018-10-03 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
...Considering what we do, he may serve a better purpose than one might think. If we should have a need to confuse and confound, rather than explicitly fight.

[she's pretty sure that hell scream could at least be a distraction, if nothing else]
eudaimonikos: (and I'll tell you that I am fine)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-04 12:42 am (UTC)(link)
That's true...I'd only worry about him getting hit somewhere in the flailing, by something far too strong for him.

[Outside-of-battle utility's pretty good, though.]

[Ah that's...true...]

...Like if we went up against one of those gods that Cyrus controls.

[It's. Not quite a question, but there you go.]
eudaimonikos: (the birth of the prison)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
Even the commander's Pokemon are probably still a little beyond him. [...] But, yes. Definitely those too.
