TEST 7.

TIME.

Seeing as it's probably not the best idea to kick down the front doors and immediately announce your presence to the entire base as a whole, a more delicate touch is probably what's needed here when it comes to infiltrating the base; the warehouses near the main building, then, seem to be an acceptable place to start looking for another entrance. It isn't difficult to find - the buildings are largely unlocked for the time being (possibly for ease of access, possibly because no one is capable of caring if they aren't locked right now) and enough exploration and shuffling boxes around will grant you access to a door at the back, leading to an underground passage seeming to lead you in the general direction of the main base.

At the very least it's well-lit, the corridor leading to what seems to be a large basement that's both spacious and completely, unsettlingly devoid of people; there's no security posted down here, though it seems as though there really should be, and at the far side of the basement there's a staircase waiting for you, leading to a set of metal doors at the top that seem designed to slide open as soon as you approach them.

Before you can do so, there's another one of those odd pulses, signaling that another temporal disturbance has occurred; nothing looks different down here, however...

[Seeing if it's possible to identify what it is, yes! If that's not possible, Rey's attention is...honestly going to turn to those mechanical parts, because we Love Machines and Mechanical Things.]

[....huh. That's interesting.]

Why would an office have such an intense security system here...?

[...

...could it be that they're in...

...well. Can she actually touch the grid? Not like. anywhere where she might accidentally activate something, but on the side of the screen.]

[.....!]

Zelda, I can touch it...we must be in the present time!

[Is that how this works? Hopefully that's how it works.

Well, now that that's established (and because she...doesn't want to try and activate the security system when they're trespassing, um), Rey will move over to those mechanical parts. Anything interesting about them?

...

she may do a Zelda and steal some if they are interesting]

[Hmmm...she was curious about how the transporter worked, but she didn't want to risk rendering it unusable by pulling it apart...

...well. Same question as the machines; can she pick up that half-finished maybe-transporter-thing?]

[....? Is that because of the time-related resistance?

.....or is the thing just really heavy/attached to the bench]

[LOOK SHE HAS TO CONSIDER ALL THE POSSIBILITIES HERE

-and well. Damn, that...doesn't make any sense. How could the security machines be in the present time, but the mechanical parts be...elsewhere?]

This is...confusing.

[Is there anything else to discover about these parts, apart from the lack of glue?]

[Oho, Rey loves mysterious notebooks!

...or, well, she's just decided she has. Can she pick it up and give it a read?]

....wow....

[Rey gently traces her fingers down some of the more elaborate designs, not missing the fact that a lot of them resemble technology she hasn't seen in weeks. There's almost something exciting about the drawings - while she's self-taught with a lot of tech, she doesn't often get the opportunity to see the actual engineering design side of things. Outside of her own scribbles, that is.

She'll flick through as many pages as she can, admiring the intricate style - is there anything else to see in the journal, outside the drawings?]

[...you most definitely don't need notes explaining cool, and Rey can appreciate that a lot of these just look cool.

They're also making her miss her own journal quite badly; she'd documented so much of her life within it. As much as it tempts her, though, she doesn't make a move to take this one. She'd be heartbroken if her own was stolen, so...best to see if there's any more information to be gathered-

...hmm. Actually, let her flick towards the front cover. Is there anything hinting to who actually owns this? Maybe a name...?]

[She'd suspected, but there's something...uncomfortable about her suspicions being confirmed, and Rey finds she's becoming incredibly tired of people with the potential to do so much good for their worlds squandering it.]

...what happened to you?

[Is there anything else of note about Cyrus' journal, before she closes it?

...assuming the answer to her question isn't in there, because wow that would be super convenient]

[....well it was worth a shot.

Rey looks over at Zelda, poking around Cyrus' (because this office very clearly belongs to him) desk; is there anywhere else in here that needs a look?]
