[The Galactic Building is certainly one of the odder places to spend some time at, but it seems to be what some have agreed to do. It'll be interesting, if nothing else; a place that originally served to remind them of how far they were from home, being a place they willingly stayed at? It was almost unthinkable, but here we are.
Once the ordeal is finished, Camilla and Ignis are once again off into the kitchen; a long day like this deserves some good meals to go along with it. The stuff they have to work with is certainly...interesting, if nothing else; hopefully nobody minds eating vegetarian tonight, because that seems to be what the menu is comprised of tonight. Hopefully nobody minds eating their vegetables!
Get some rest, everybody; it's been earned after all that's happened today.]

She hums, low and thoughtful, but stays quiet for a moment. What a heavy, awful thing for a child to ask. When she speaks, her voice is soft.]
Does it bother you that I did?

[ His voice kind of just...kind of does the thing when kids are sad and upset. You know, the young sad voice sound when they're talking. ]
I had a feeling it would work out, it's just, no one's ever done something like that for me. I'm not ungrateful or anything either, because part of me is thankful that you went through so much trouble. That someone cares about me enough that they'd try to make sure I was safe.
[ ... ]
But, if you had died because you did that--because of me, I don't know if I'd been able to take it. So, maybe it'll be fine if you...didn't do it anymore, if we're in a situation like that again.

With her hands free now, she places them on his shoulders, and leans in to meet his eyes.]
Ventus, darling, I cannot tell you how important your safety is to me. If something had happened there—and I meant it when I told you it would be all right, and it is, but if the worst had come to pass—it would not have been because of you. I chose for myself to stand between you and the danger that may have come. That was my decision, and mine alone; any harm that could have come to me would never, ever have been your fault.
[She takes one slow breath, steadying herself, not realizing how intense she had gotten; she lets his shoulders go and instead takes both his hands, brings them to hold together between both of hers.]
I cannot promise that I will not always want to protect you, because that would be a lie. I love you, and want to see you safe. I will promise that nothing I ever do will be done recklessly, and I will always strive to keep myself safe, too, so that I will be there beside you next time. Regardless, the actions will be mine, and my choice, so you mustn't take responsibility for them.
Is that all right?

As she speaks, he listens, and then when her hands move to take both of his within his own, he doesn't even pull away. It's just comforting when she does it, instead of anything patronizing, kind of like how she does everything really. ]
...Alright. I think I'm okay with that, as much as I can be.
[ It doesn't assuage all his worries, because he'll realistically still be worried for her regardless, but it does kind of put to rest the ones where she'll be like throwing herself recklessly in front of him without any thought, for example. ]
And, I do think I understand a little better now--just, remember that I want to see you safe too. So, I'll be doing my best to look out for you like you do for me. It's only fair, right?

I won't forget, and I will always be happy to have you by my side—just so long as you remember that your safety is paramount, all right, love?

[ That sounds funny hearing himself say that and Ventus actually wants to say it again, but he also wants to be taken seriously so he refrains for a moment!!
At the words 'your safety is paramount', his face just kind of scrunches up a little. ]
Mmm...I...
[ ...he's pouting. He doesn't want to be considered anymore important than anyone else's life, including Emmeryn's. ]

Oh, I do not like to tell you this, but you are a kid. It does not make you any less capable. You are strong and brave and full of love and light, and that you are a child does not make any of that mean anything less. It means the world, Ventus. The only difference it makes is that your only duty is to take care of yourself. You've promises to keep and friends to see again, haven't you?
[She keeps one of her hands over his and moves the other to push hair from his face, brush her fingers on his face, and takes his hands again.]
You worry so much for so little. All this time we have kept each other safe, haven't we? We said things would be all right today, and they are. We are all safe, and with new friends besides. You needn't worry about my safety. We are all going to be fine.

...At the very least, when she tells him these things, the pout sort of leaves his face somewhat, and he looks a touch contemplative. ]
I do. My friends are waiting for me, somewhere out there, and they need my help.
[ ...Ventus pauses a bit, turning those other words over in his head, and he kind of just... ]
...Okay, m--Emmeryn. You're right, there's no way we won't let each other be lost or anything like that. So...let's just keep doing our best!

But she smiles so soft and bright, leans in to kiss the top of his head and then pulls him into a hug. What a marvel, that he picks himself right back up, that their best will always be done.]
There is so much hope and courage within you, Ventus, that everywhere you go, it shines. Always hold onto that. There is no greater strength.
