Discussion.

RECOMMENDATION.

Those of you who stayed in the base last night will be left free of any Galactic interference; the grunts still seem largely too blank to care much about your presence, and it seems Saturn has given them orders to leave you alone - once in a while he kind of shoos them out of your general presence unless you tell him to stop, solely because he doesn't want to just have them standing there staring at you.

However, there's one matter of business that he'll call you all into that lounge area for; nothing too terrible, just...something of a quick discussion.

"I had to get in contact with Master Cyrus last night - not to inform him of anything you've done, or even notify him of your presence, but more because I imagined he would notice that the flow of time had been restarted and not driven to a halt again. I ensured he wouldn't come here in person, but just in case, you might not want to stay here more than another day or so.

"Since you still aren't completely familiar with the area, I would suggest Hearthome City - it's far enough away from here that you won't be troubled with Team Galactic business, and we don't have any bases there despite the size of the city. Besides, I think it has a few things there that several of you would like.

"I'd recommend going there and taking your time in leaving. I don't foresee there being a problem, but you never know."

He pauses for a moment before kind of. Shifting a bit.

"I still plan on being here for the next while at least; if you need to contact me, you can reach me here. For the time being, I've unlocked one of the warehouses for you; you should be able to find a crate with some of your belongings in them. Take them as you see fit."

And that seems to be the end of it; feel free to spend the day here, but you might not want to stay any longer than that.

[OOC: Welcome to the start of Week 18! We hope you're enjoying your weekend; the crate in the warehouse will contain one of your regains that you submitted in your app. Have fun!

No NPC response will be given to this post, though you can thread here amongst yourselves if you wish; we'll see you tomorrow at noon with a new log for your further adventures!]

Yeah, something like that. Attached to my shoulder it's so close to the real thing that my brain takes over and doesn't notice the different.

[That means that he would, in fact, feel pain from his metal arm!]

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-01 04:39 am (UTC)(link)
So it feels pain.

[Probably should have expected that the torture demon would arrive at that conclusion real fast, really.]

Like a regular arm would, or only when it's actually damaged?
semistableman: (★ i am so homesick now for)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-10-01 04:42 am (UTC)(link)
[Why this, Michael.]

Like a regular arm would.

When the original prosthetic was.... damaged [he means blown off of his shoulder with a chest canon] I wasn't exactly able to get up on my own.
eudaimonikos: (I got dreams of my own)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-01 04:46 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, most humans don't handle significant limb damage well.

[He says, very academically.]

That seems like very inconvenient design. You need to know if its functions are compromised, sure, but there's no reason for you to feel every bump and scrape.
semistableman: (✪ maybe you're a sinner)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-10-01 04:54 am (UTC)(link)
For the work they had me doing, being able to detect small details was important.

They weren't exactly worried about much besides making sure both my arms functioned.
eudaimonikos: (if I don't make it on the list)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-01 05:04 am (UTC)(link)
Ah. It's from all that.

[Michael's almost certain you could separate pressure sensors and fine motor control or whatever from actual pain responses. But if you're going to torture someone anyway, why?]

I don't know why I'm questioning this. You could argue that my entire body is a prosthetic made specifically to feel pain.
semistableman: how about that (❅ you feel this way)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-10-01 05:22 am (UTC)(link)
[He gestures to the arm in his lap.]

This one is a little.... different. It's smaller, for one. Detachable. It'd take me walking someone through it to reattach it, but it's not agony.

When Shuri designed it, I told her I wanted it as much like a real arm as possible.

[Bucky eyes Michael for a long moment.]

It's better, anyway. Not being able to feel anything doesn't mean you're not injuring yourself. It just means you can't feel it.
eudaimonikos: (moral agency)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-01 05:26 am (UTC)(link)
Technically. But it would take more to really injure a thing like that. I don't know why you would want to feel physical pain unnecessarily.

[He doesn't seem to expect Bucky to explain himself; just kinda making a statement.]

Guess verisimilitude's a thing.
semistableman: (❅ yesterday all you had)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-10-01 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
It's... not just pain.

[He shakes his heads.]

Nerves are too complicated, you can't just switch one part of them off. I wouldn't be able to feel with it at all. That'd be worse than foregoing it entirely like I've been doing as a civilian.

It's the little things that I want. Like the warmth of a cup of coffee, or the softness of an animal's fur.
eudaimonikos: (how good people make tough choices)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-10-01 05:57 am (UTC)(link)
[.....hm. Michael tilts his head to one side, considering this.]

I've guess I've mostly always seen human bodies as liabilities.
