Week 18.

WEEK 18 Hearthome City isn't the farthest distance away that you've traveled, but it seems that Saturn was right in telling you that it would be a good distance away from Veilstone; surrounded by forest and with the massive shadow of Mount Coronet spreading from the west, it manages to feel both massive and secluded. As usual, there's a good amount to look at, and more than enough to keep you busy; now that the flow of time has been restarted, it may feel almost like there's not enough hours in the day. Of course, that's not the only thing that's changed lately; despite the fact that there's been another one of those setbacks, it seems that overall, you've done something for the world. There's a lot more to be done, of course, but any signs of progress are good signs. We are only taking a walk. They find less trouble if I keep them busy, and the park is awfully charming even with the overgrowth.

[And, with a little tilt of her head to indicate him,] Mizushi seems so comfortable with you. How charming.

Ah...you think so?

[He looks down at Mizushi again, his expression softening.]

I like to think he's doing better. You know, after Cyrus and all. Still not okay, but...maybe a little better than he was before.

He would not be cozying up to you so if he were not doing better. Even the smallest changes add up, and I have faith there are more yet to come. Duma was rather like this, too, at first—He did not get so uproarious in a day.

[Duma rumbles low in his shell in acknowledgement where he stands behind her, and can't seem to quite decide if Emmeryn means to make fun of him or not with the light, friendly way she laughs with that last sentence.]

Haha, yeah...I guess you can't expect for it to happen all at once.

[Just for that, he decides to lift Mizushi up off the ground, holding him in his arms so he can lay over his forearms and be actually in the conversation proper.]

It's nice to hear how things have gone before from others, if I'm honest. It's encouraging, you know?

[cute...... Emmeryn nudges Heim in her arms, half-hoping he'll take an interest in Mizushi at eye level.]

Oh, of course. It was the loveliest thing, watching the Pokémon who hatched from our eggs open up in the same way our first Pokémon did, and knowing we had seen it before, and it succeeded.

I must say, though, you lucked out. The very first thing Duma decided to do once he found the initiative to do anything was start headbutting everything in his path...

[She says it like she's making a little joke but there remains the undercurrent of a beleaguered mom ever left to deal with her rowdy children...]

[EMMERYN YOU POOR SOUL...]

Duma sounds like he's been a pretty free spirit the moment he got his spirit back.

[Natto's been similar, albeit not big or hard enough to do much damage to anything. Meanwhile Chazuke was just Afraid of most things, so there was that.]

[despite the fact that absolutely everybody has the right to, no one has yet called Duma any number of mean names to his face, and instead we stick to things like "remarkable" and "free spirit." it's appreciated. he's too stupid to appreciate it himself but emmeryn does.

In the meantime, Duma sort of...bops his whole face-body-area against Emmeryn's legs and...keeps it there. Is he...hiding?]

He is always so full of life. I would not trade him for the world.

[...Duma you're like three feet tall you're not going to be able to hide here]

You would never recognize him, though, in all that time he was finding himself again, and they were all such small changes at a time. Just a little longer and I am sure dear Mikazuki will seem brand new.

[gekkaju]

[DUMA IS.....Duma. We don't diss Duma. We love and appreciate him.]

I'm glad you think so, Emmeryn. It just makes me wish I could take care of so many more Pokemon. I'd have probably taken every other Pokemon living in that canal when I got him if I knew at all that I could handle them.

[Which, no, he can't. He'd be a breeder or a walking daycare center at that point, of which he's capable of being neither.]

[that is...the cutest thing...emmeryn has ever heard...... She holds Heim in her arms up to her heart.]

Oh, goodness, but what a lovely sentiment. With the resources and a place to settle, instead of always being on the march, I am sure you would do such marvelous work with something like that.

[she has faith in the boy...!!!]

Last we saw the world full of life, the wild Pokémon followed suit when our own companions warmed up to our presence. Of course, it took a little longer, but take care of one, and you take care of all.

[gekkaju]

[That's a wonderful sentiment too...and it actually helps Atsushi feel a lot better about the limitations of their current situation.]

I think we'll be able to get the world back to that point again. Even if it takes longer than it did before.

[divinedescendant]

We will. Even if it is not easy, we will help this world find its spirit again. It is that optimistic attitude of yours that ensures this small headway is only a sign of such wonderful things to come.

O-oh, well...yeah.

[Cmon Emmeryn you're going to make him blush.]

That, and...I think that Cyrus would get tired of just resetting the world over and over. He should at least know by now that just killing us isn't going to be that easy, either.
