The base in Eterna City is neither as large nor imposing as the Veilstone building; however, you've likely noticed by now that it's just as odd-looking, if not moreso. Located in the northwestern portion of town, it stands at the epicenter of the spatial disturbances plaguing the city; it doesn't seem unaffected by them - there are parts of it that seem...out of place, the building itself just as patchwork as the rest of the surrounding area - but it still seems structurally sound and the door is still in place and looks like it belongs to the original building.

So it'll probably take you where you want to go upon walking through it. Probably.

That said, while it's not the best idea to kick down the front doors and hope no one notices, it doesn't seem that you have much of a choice; unlike the Veilstone base, there doesn't seem to be another entrance. So it's either front doors or nothing; hopefully there isn't anything too hostile immediately inside. There don't seem to be any guards stationed outside the building, at least - it seems that they're staying inside just as much as the locals are. Either that or they have other reasons for not being around.

On the one hand, Dialga may have given you some idea of what you're likely in for eventually; on the other, Palkia is an entirely different creature, holding dominion over another aspect of the universe entirely. Hopefully you've steeled yourselves, either way; best of luck to you.

[It does! But it probably won't stay in place for long - Heatran rears up on her hind legs to try to get you off, which also finally frees her foot from the lava.

So on the plus side, you've nearly got the chain out and if you can keep a grip on it for a little while longer it'll probably pop out just due to your weight!

...On the minus side, Heatran is now free and she is supremely pissed off.]

Clefairy!!

[Good news, Clefairy does manage to hold on long enough for that piece of chain to pop out!

Bad news: it popped out. Which means Clefairy is being sent flying. Until she's, uh. Not.

No, you're not imagining things, the little pink puff sure is just floating there. With her piece of chain still in her hands. Huh.]

Oh! Well, that's a thing, isn't it? Clefairy will immediately switch from panicked to cheerfully smug, clinging onto her new shiny souvenir!

Her trainer, on the other hand-]

[LET HER JUST SHOVE PAST GALLADE AND REACH OUT FOR SAID LITTLE PINK PUFF]

[There's a small pop right next to Clefairy, and a Kadabra appears next to her, apparently the reason why she's floating. The blue neckerchief clearly indicates that it's Sena's Pokemon, but even without it: how many other Kadabras do you guys even know, anyway?

Anyways, here's your little friend, Rey.]

[HER FRIEND!!! She is being thoroughly squished into a cuddle, good lord.]

Sena, thank you!

[Portus might look slightly nonplussed - he's certainly not Sena - but he'll nod a bit stoically and float a short distance away to question the other Pokemon: what just happened here. why are you guys fighting a literal actual deity is this seriously the life you guys have. he thought the thing with Dialga was a fluke.]

[Thankfully, Heatran ends up distracted so she drops back down to all fours to engage in a fiery battle with Natto; are you still hanging on, Clefairy?]

[Let's consolidate threads here - as Heatran lowers herself down and the cavern shakes, the chain pops free!

...Heatran's still not having a good time, but the effect is immediately apparent - she goes from being really mad and trying to murder everyone to just sort of... stopping. Blinking a bit. Looking around at everyone like she's seeing them all for the first time. She looks so confused, give her a moment.]

....Natto stop, stop!!

[Chazuke will step on her if she doesn't, but thankfully she closes her mouth and ends her attack, huffing smoke through her nose. She takes a few steps back along with Mizushi to take a breather, panting heavily.

Oh god please let it be over...]

Either it stopped or we're all dead. I'm presuming and hoping the former.

[...oh good lord, what is this. Haar and Altena both just kind of back off at that, both confused as hell, along with Camilla who's just. Wired and prepared???]

...Hello? Do pardon us...

[She seems to be processing everything, and it takes her a moment before she lets out a low rumbling sound that's the Pokémon equivalent of "????" before she abruptly turns around and stomps toward the back of the cavern.

...After a moment she'll turn around and make another rumbling sound; it seems like she wants you to follow.]

...I...think they want us to follow them?

[...Camilla is tentatively going to follow along, her Pokemon very close in tow, but she's looking at the others. Should they...?]

Do you think it's safe, now...?

[Rey is still hugging Clefairy like there's no tomorrow, but she takes the time to nod at Atsushi.]

...I think so. It seems....different, now that the chain is gone. Like it understands us.

It isn't stampeding at us, so I don't see a problem listening to it.

[let's just call back highwind and sonantis, both of which need a nap badly.]

[Atsushi nods. He's also going to just...slide off Chazuke's back, thank you for that son but it's safe now.]

Alright...let's go, then.

[Don't worry, you're not walking into a trap or anything and Heatran won't attack anyone. In fact, she wanders over to the very back of the cavern and... climbs up the wall like a spider. As you do. She'll sit here and watch all of you while you explore.

And there is some stuff to explore, from the look of it. The cavern is still the same back here - all rocks and some pools of lava you can easily avoid - but there's something definitely out of place here.

It looks like machinery, at least it was machinery at one point. It's all been smashed up. Some of it is melted, some just looks like a very angry Pokémon stomped on it, but either way it's impossible to tell exactly what these machines were for.

Among the ruined machines you'll find something that's still intact, however.]

[Camilla is currently thanking whatever gods are still on their side for the fact that they don't seem to have been walking into a trap--good things still can happen to them, if nothing else. The look of the sheer machine destruction in here, though...]

...Goodness, were they using all of this to attempt to make that chain?

[It's kind of a horrifying concept, honestly, but Camilla does look over to see what's still intact.]

...Wait, what is this...?

[Let's get a closer look! Camilla will try to signal the others over too, since she's. Bad with this stuff, honestly.]

It looks like it's probably not going to be making anything else any time soon, if that's the case.

[It's some kind of technology! It's relatively small, you can easily hold it in your hand and it looks vaguely like what Maylene gave you guys awhile back. It's certainly not exactly the same, and its exact purpose isn't something you can figure out right now.

Besides, you do have another group to meet up with and a legendary to deal with. It's best to leave studying the mysterious technology for later. It's all yours, though! Heatran clearly has no interest in it.]

[Speaking of souvenirs, is Clefairy free to keep this piece of red chain?]
