Week 23.
WEEK 23 This isn't the first time that you've stood in the massive shadow of Mount Coronet, the peaks and crags of the mountain standing tall and resolute in the center of the region. At the top, supposedly, is the origin of all things - whatever Spear Pillar is, there are two things about it that are important to know. The first being that it isn't visible from here, and the second is that your Pokémon seem either unwilling or incapable of flying you to it. There's no way up the mountain but through, it seems; finding an entrance may be difficult, though there are certainly entrances to be found, and once one is located... Well, it seems the interior of the mountain is just as impressive as the exterior. The caverns in here are massive, the tops of them peaking out high overhead, and the cave system itself contains many ledges and structures high above you that will have to be accessed by climbing. Some areas have walkways and paths that seem almost built-in, but others...good luck getting up there if you aren't prepared to physically hoist yourself up there somehow. There's also the sound of running water in here, audible from the first chamber and getting louder the further you soldier on; it seems a few of the caverns have small rivers and pools containing fresh water. So at least you won't dehydrate anytime soon. [She's like a minute behind the rest of the group crowding him for a reunion, because hiking and cave-crawling are both absolute bullshit, but as soon as Emmeryn is close enough to see him, her whole face lights up. She hands her Phione egg off to Latona beside her (also yeah we have one of those now? long story. she'll catch you up in a bit) so her hands are free to take Ventus's shoulders and face and hands, checking him over.]
Oh, darling, how wonderful it is to see you again—Are you all right? Have you been hurt?

[ Just as with Camilla's exuberance, Emmeryn's excitement is contagious judging by the bright expression on his face now. He'll allow her to check him over too. ]
I'm doing just fine, actually. See? Not a single scratch on me or anything.
[ Ventus will just then hold out his hands before lowering them. ]
What about you? Have you guys been doing okay?

[ He seems to think a bit about the other question, though. ]
I think I might need something, though. Something realllyyyy important. Can you guess what it is?
[ Then he'll hold out his hands. He is totally asking for a hug. ]

I think I may have an idea.
[And she opens her arms and draws Ventus into a tight hug, keeps him close as she can.]

I didn't mean to worry you. But, I promise I won't leave again.
[ Or... he'll try not to, because he's realizing it's possible he got whisked away instead of just going on his own. ]
And even if it something happens, I'll definitely find my way back somehow.

Do you remember before, when I told you fussing is the job of adults? If something happens again...
[And for a moment, she trails off; here she has Ventus in her arms again and she thinks of having to let Lissa and Chrom go to march towards war again, and she thinks of scouring the city when she could not find Ventus no matter how many times she counted their heads.
She takes in a breath, remains steady and soft.]
...then it will be our responsibility to come find you again. And we will. Your safety is paramount to me.

I might remember you saying something like that.
[ That sounds kind of cheeky and that's because it is, as the smile turns into a grin briefly. Because nothing would stop him from worrying too, but at the very least he's taking it in good strike. ]
But, I don't doubt for a second you guys would. [ ... ] And thanks. Hearing you say all of this means a lot to me. It really does.

[She does let him go, finally, but the light hasn't left her eyes or her smile. Here he stands, just as she remembers leaving him; her hope has never felt so strong.]
We'll have to catch you up, if the others haven't already... If nothing else, we've a new friend for you to meet, and I must show you what's become of dear Heim.
[Latona trudges back over, catching some slight gesture Emmeryn has made to beckon her over so that Emmeryn can take the Phione egg back.]

[ The blond, ever so curious happens to look right over at the egg she's taken back and peer closer at it, reaching out to kind of just poke at it. ]
...Is this egg the new friend?

It hasn't been very long, of course, but who knows when it will hatch... [She smiles sweetly when Ventus pokes the egg, and shifts it into her hands.] You may hold it, if you would like.

[ Ventus then holds out his hands because yeah he definitely wants to hold the egg. ]
I'd like to hold the egg too. It's really been awhile.

The encounter took us all by surprise, of course, but Manaphy was just the sweetest thing.
