[Kayneth is from England. He....... can't deal with this. He's trying to keep an eye out for a Pokemon he's wanted for a while for the sake of having some kind of pack animal, and that's something he's doing to try to keep his mind off the cold, but... holy shit. Hoooly shit. For most of the day he's trying to keep an eye out for little tracks in the snow, because they'd be burrowing, right? He's going to find one, right?

Later on, when he's basically half-mad from cold and exhaustion, he finally spots his quarry. Instead of taking it rationally and calmly, he points at the small, brown creature in the snow:]
Found you!
[...and instead of sending out his Pokemon, he just kind of flails through the snow towards the creature, who... just kind of freezes in fear at this strange, horrible human coming towards it and picking it up and lifting it over his head??? It kind of squeals helplessly as Kayneth just kind of laughs triumphantly over finally finding his Ground-type, who will eventually be able to carry his backpack for him and who he can name something extremely petty.
So that's why Kayneth has a mildly flummoxed looking Swinub with him when he's huddled up by the campfire, very... very tired from the events of the day and covered in every blanket he owns. He's kind of nodding off with his Murkrow huddled in the front of his jacket, as that's the only Pokemon he has that's warm-blooded and not slightly terrified of him at the moment....]
