[ so that was a lot, especially since it was keith’s first time coming face-to-face with a commander. he knows everyone must be tired and emotionally drained, but they have a lot of things they need to talk about. things that can’t wait to be sorted out. he has to collect his thoughts first, though--he’s not sure how to feel about this exactly, but he knows he’s feeling a lot of things. keith needs time to process everything, and he goes off to be alone for a little while.

eventually, michael, kayneth, ignis, camilla, and bucky bring over some food for the gang. it’s a much needed meal, and maybe some people want to eat in peace. unfortunately, keith is keith, and he thinks now is the best time to have a discussion. ]

Look, I know I’m not in the best position to say this, especially after how I acted back there. But unless anyone has any better ideas, we need to go to that lake and see the Guardian. We have to try. If that’s part of the solution to saving these people and going back home, then there’s really no other option.

[ he’s saying this with a calm head this time. he’s frustrated, clearly, but he’s speaking firmly and with nowhere near the same aggression he held earlier, back when he wanted to attack jupiter.

he doesn’t believe that he can be the leader anyone needs him to be. not here, not back at home. but it’s not going to stop him from trying to do what he feels is right. ]

And if we need someone to scope it out before we act, then I’ll do it.

[ Sure Ventus is a little up past his bed time, but he can't really sleep tonight. He hasn't burned off a lot of energy despite the fact that...they did have a trek. When he spots Michael leaving, however, he follows him wondering what he's doing. ]

Is this a new thing you've started doing?

...as of five minutes ago, yes.

[geeeeeeez, do all of you people just stay up all night?]

It was late so I kind of wondered what you were doing up at night and followed along.

[ Says the kid who is up late too, but hey. ]

Well, I didn't know they were dead humans before. Actually thought they were just Pokemon composed of gas that sort of looked like ghosts. No weirder than the sentient rocks.

That's true. [ ... ] It's still kind of weird to think that they were actually people at one time.

[ Ventus was weirded about it at the time -- and honestly still is -- but he's sort of been able to take in the idea better now that some time has passed since the discussion.

He nods at the comment, hands resting at his sides. ]

...I couldn't sleep since I wasn't feeling all that tired, so that's why I'm still up.

Yeah. I'm used to dead humans staying...human. No physical body, sure, but you all don't change that much.

[He swipes a hand thoughtfully through the edges of one Gastly's aura. Body. Thing?]

[ Ventus tilts his head at that Gastly, watching as the Pokemon just impassively lets it happen. Well, at least they don't look all that scary. ]

...No, not really. I think it might be because of that I can't sleep. [ ... ] Not that I couldn't handle it or anything, but there was a lot to think over, so that might be why.

Fair enough. I can usually get by with less sleep than a regular human, but with all the walking we're doing, I find it...relaxing. Just wanted to come talk to the dead first.

Anything specific bothering you? Aside from Jupiter being able to just walk into our sleeping space whenever. I'm going to see about locking it when I go back.

Okay. I hope they all decide to come to you if they really do need anything.

[ At the question, he furrows his brows, thinking back to the discussion. He doesn't quite look at him for a moment before he's able to meet his gaze again, and he shakes his head. ]

It's okay, I'm over it, I think. I'm just glad that no one really got hurt -- for a moment, I thought that might even happen.

[ And that honestly scared him a little. ]

Man, can you imagine if she actually set that skunk on one of us? Fuckin' thing was enormous...

[One of these days they've gotta stop asking the Commanders to let their Pokemon out, it's starting to seem risky.]

We should try to meet Mars outside, just have Zelda's rock snake out.

Oh yeah, that would've stunk.

[ ... He pauses, realizing what he just said and sort of just smiles sheepishly. But yeah, that could've gone rotten pronto. ]

Something tells me that wouldn't really go over well. They seem to be kind of big on meeting face to face.

[ That and Ventus wants to meet them head on still. There's no way they're going to be hiding away like that. ]

We'd still be there! There'd just be a giant crushing rock snake there with us.

[He just wants some backup that's less "Pokemon battle" and more "Pokemon physical threat". Jupiter was allowed to do it!]

Hmm...

[ ... Okay he's kind of grinning at that. He imagines the Onyx standing in front of all of them, maybe. Or rather, he supposed it would be off to the side a little. ]

Yeah, that might work out pretty well, actually -- it could make us all look pretty cool too. We just walk in and then bam! Onyx comes out of the Pokeball and looks at them with this really stony look -- then we just stop walking at that time and cross our arms or something.

[ A kid is still a kid, apparently... ]

[He actually thinks that sounds a little anticlimatic, considering the Onix isn't trained...]

As long as they didn't think we were starting a Pokemon battle. We're trying for the opposite of that.

[ He blinks and then realizes something -- ]

Well, as long as we don't have the Pokemon attack they wouldn't think that we would...right?

[ Or would they... he didn't even think of that. ]

Jupiter would. It's the sort of thing she'd do.
