with knowledge comes great responsibility

[What an absolute ordeal all of that was.

Today was certainly one hell of a day, that's for sure; they've managed to take care of another Guardian and gain it's trust (or at the very least, something resembling it), they managed to find Candice and manage to...well, maybe not get her back in a state that's altogether wanted, but ensure they managed to get her at least into a place where she could possibly regain herself. It will likely be a process, as such things are, but they've done their best, and they should have no regrets.

The center is definitely going to be a welcome reprieve for all of their suffering, at the very least. The Kompot is certainly more than enough to likely get everyone warmed back up and in a stable condition, along with the copious amount of blankets the locals have provided. They've got the time to rest and get ready for their next adventure.

Rest well, ye merry band of travelers. You've earned it.]

...Bad experiences with people being immobile and covered in clear shit, only to break out as mutated freaks of nature out to kill you.

[...wow.]

Also bad memories with being experimented on for a long time and having parts of your body messed with in order to torture other people. I really don't like dealing with the fucking Lake Guardians.

[Sorry, what. Kiryu actually seems surprised. These definitely aren't normal traumatizing memories!]

What kind of people did you work for?!

Whoever pays me. No one that was doing anything that fucked up until recently, though.

[...Yeah.]

Welcome to the apocalypse, or at least the closest we've gotten to it. We fight wars with some really fucked up bioweapons.

Don't tell me you're one of the few humans left.

[That's waaaaay beyond 'closest we have gotten to the apocalypse', Kiryu]

Nah, there are still actual billions of us left, it hasn't gotten that fucked up.

Oh. You made it sound like it was way worse. Biological weapons, mutated freaks of nature, it's like right out of a bad movie.

[It's so hard to think it actually happened somewhere...good thing it's not as bad as human extinction]
bloodspent: (23. heavy as a feather)

It's not to extinction levels, but I'm pretty sure we're in the middle of a zombie apocalypse or something. We fight wars with viruses that create huge amounts of mutated undead. Europe is pretty fucked, a lot of America - North and South - is really fucked. Somebody just took out China? So it's...bad, been like that for fifteen years, give or take.

Why the hell would anyone want to turn people into mutant zombies? That sounds like a really bad idea.

[He shrugs.]

I don't know, I've never done it. Never really been the mad science type of guy.

The entire world thanks for you that.

[Mad Scientist Jake Muller is kind of a scary thought]
