Week 10.

WEEK 10 You've found a few new friends this past week, and along with them, a new town to explore. Granted, there doesn't seem to be much, particularly when compared to the cities you started out in; at the same time, the air is fresh with the scent of flowers and honey wafting on the breeze. Along with the usual Pokémon that can be found in populated areas, it seems that several Combees have made their home here - they can be found drifting along idly, seeming no more capable of true emotion than anyone or anything else, but perhaps they're trying their best. It's a little difficult to say; they are still bees, after all. That said, the world continues to change around you, bit by bit; you still have a long way to go before you've saved everyone, but for the time being you should probably recharge, and take some time to sort through what should happen next. Talking to the locals may net you the information that there's something odd about the meadow north of town; perhaps a few of you should go to check it out... Exploration Group!

[Man, this town is a rather sleepy little place, isn't it? It's certainly nicer than the place they were in as of recently, and it's almost perfect, really. A nice little rest after all they've been through.

Still, there is some curiosity about at least one of the places that this town has to offer; there seems to be an entrance to another part of the town over toward the northwest, and what could lie over yonder. Camilla wasn't going to go alone, however; she asked a few of their party to come with her to see what was going on, and Kiryu, Emmeryn, and Zelda have decided to see what's over yonder with her.

They're close to stepping inside, but Camilla takes one last look over at the group with a smile.]

I trust we're all ready to go in, hm?

From here it looks like a harmless place.

[It's a meadow, unlike the icy temple or the caves in the lakes. It doesn't mean there's nothing dangerous, though, which is why Bito is ready and already ahead of Kiryu. Looks like the Heracross and his trainer are ready]

[usually Emmeryn isn't the best at this kind of adventure into the unknown investigation stuff but it's just FLOWERS how bad can it be!!! it'll be fine. no stupid shit has ever gone belly-up for the squad before.]

We'll fare just fine, I am sure. We have a sturdy group here. I will be beside you as soon as we are ready to proceed.

[in hopes of keeping dumb shenanigans to a minimum, Emmeryn has put Latona and her Ralts are away in their Pokéballs, but Duma is ever-faithfully following along at her side. do not blow this for us.]

[ Well for Zelda's part as usual unless off on its own investigation, Miphanus is around and floating there. In this case, it has active curiosity in its eyes, beeping along and floating like the weird steel psychic robot thing that it is. Though Zelda does have Bosphoramus (too big), Saber (... yeah), and the others around in balls for now. Still, she beams at Camilla's question for a moment before just brushing her hair back ]

No, of course.

It really does, doesn't it? It's so wonderfully peaceful...

[That's to Kiryu, but Camilla looks over to Emmeryn and Zelda with a smile as they seem to affirm their readiness, and Camilla lets out Arion in the process. He'll be her partner of choice for the day.]

Well, let's be off, everyone!

[Into the meadow we go!]

[Anyone looking for Atsushi this morning- or anyone who hadn't run into him the day prior- will find him seated on the front steps of the house he'd been staying in for the last few weeks. The locals living there were some of the few in this town that he felt like he "knew" more than the others, but even then they still felt like mostly strangers...which is partly why he's starting to hope more and more that his decision to join this group is the right one. They all seem very nice, and willing to help him as much as he's willing to help them...and if they're helping out this world, then he feels like maybe there's some worth in having a part in that.

He has his elbows resting on his knees, his palms against his cheeks as he watches his Wimpod scuttling across the grass in front of him. Over the last several weeks he's watched Chazuke change in subtle ways, becoming more alert and less blank and listless, similar to the way the people of this town had. Compared to the companions of this new group, though...he's still pretty much a mystery to Atsushi.

He sighs, letting one hand drop between his legs while the other continues to prop up his head.]

Nobody really seems to know anything about you, including me...what can you do, Chazuke?

[The Wimpod looks up at Atsushi for a long moment, blinks, then returns to pushing his way through the short grass around his trainer's feet.]

Having trouble with your partner?

[Well it's not trouble caused by your partner, so that's good. Hello, newcomer! Here's Kazuma Kiryu, approaching with his Pancham beside him. Kiryu thought he should greet the new member of the traveling crew, and when he was approaching he heard Atsushi's sigh]

[In you go indeed.

The meadow is massive, stretching out before you for a good long distance in bursts of color, red and blue and pink and yellow; it's likely you've never seen any of these particular flowers before, regardless of how well-traveled you are in your own world, and while the meadow is admittedly kind of overgrown where several of the flowers have decided to just do their own thing instead of being cultivated in any sort of reasonable manner, the sight is still a lovely one.

However, it looks like there are a few darker patches arcing into the scenery here and there - areas that seem faded or dying compared to the rest. There doesn't seem to be any real pattern to them, but they do seem to be in the process of spreading if you had to harbor a guess.]

Oh, astounding!

[ She doesn't recognize these species at all! Zelda's eyes are alight as, bounding ahead of the others her first actually is to go down and (now with the thing working again) get shots of the various types of flowers with the Sheikah Slate. Miphanus follows her, though the Metang does take it a step further as to try to (as gingerly as these big claws can) extract one of the red flowers from the ground. It's curious, okay? And Zelda doesn't chide him because, well, it does seem like these are growing abundantly. One flower is probably okay. Mostly. ]

[...Woah.

That's really the only reaction that Camilla can have at first, and the sheer number of flowers is just absolutely massive? Holy shit. There's so many things in beautiful colors, and quite frankly she's likely going to see if she can take some of these beautiful things with her. She'll start walking onward, at least, and that's when she starts to see some of the dying portions.]

Ah...it looks like this area could use a little bit of care. I wonder if someone used to take care of this giant field?

[...Screw it, she's gonna pick some flowers, but she's actually gonna look ahead a bit--it's clearly dying in patches, but does it look like it gets worse the further one would go?]

That'd be a lot of work. It could have been more than one person.

[Maybe the entire town of Floaroma used to take care of the field. Bito is enjoying a lot the flowers, flying at a low altitude and buzzing cheerfully]

[...well she was gonna save her flower-picking for the walk back but! if everyone else is at it!!!]

Shall I make you another little crown when we are done, Duma? [She should bring some flowers back for Rey, too... Duma, meanwhile, is just...trying to eat the flowers whole. He is Like This.

With some flowers in her arms, Emmeryn comes ahead to catch up with the others, especially towards Camilla and those dying portions of the greenery.]

Tending to a garden this size would have to be a group effort... Even without its usual help, the meadow is so lovely, though, no?

[If Chazuke were causing trouble, Atsushi would probably be at far more of a loss than he is already. He looks up as he's addressed through, presented with a new face and yet another new Pokemon he hasn't seen before.]

Sort of...the rest of you seem pretty close with your Pokemon, but I guess that's because you've been with them longer...and traveling with them.

That...and I don't know anything about mine other than his species.

[And even that's a mystery.]

[Oh my god, flowers for everybody. It's not like you're going to get in trouble or anything for taking some of them, and there certainly are plenty to go around, so feel free, really.

That said, the patches that seem to be having...difficulty do seem to be getting worse the further in you go; in some cases the color is just less vibrant on the petals, but in others the flowers appear to be actively sick or dying, wilting and turning dark and curling in on themselves.]

[Kiryu isn't sure if this is normal or not. Flowers and plants die when not given care and attention, so maybe this is normal? Hm.

Better take a closer look, just in case. Is there anything hinting the cause of this?]

[Hm...sounds like you haven't been that long with your partner, Atsushi]

You should try to connect with him even if you don't know anything. Better not force anything.

[Besides, the attention may make your Wimpod here tell you about himself! Somehow! Even if it's an opinion.

At least that's what Kiryu hopes]

Looks like some sort of sea creature.

Be careful, Kiryu. This looks like more than simple negligence...

[Camilla's going along with him, honestly, and Arion's kind of sniffing the air himself. Maybe there's something smelly or weird around here...]

[It doesn't seem like they're diseased or anything, but they are dying in weird ways - the damage seems to be radiating out from the center of the dying patches, getting less severe as you move outward toward the edges and getting worse toward the middle. The edges of the patches are all surrounded by perfectly healthy flowers.]

[ Now with Miphanus having a flower in hand, Zelda catches up to this and examines about the same thing Kazuma is examining and... well. Her opinion, which she glances around for what they think: ]

It appears to have been the result of something moving outward from an epicenter.
