Week 12.

WEEK 12

For the time being, it would seem that you're back on the routes again.

Route 202 is thankfully a simple one - it's straightforward as compared to the winding paths of Eterna Forest, with a clearly marked path surrounded by trees. The usual patches of tall grass are present here, though they can be avoided if you really want to stay clear of them; it's a fair easier walk than most of the routes you've traversed so far, and mercifully it's also a far shorter one. It seems August is being kind to you in that way; there's decidedly less walking required of you, which is likely not all that unwelcome after the frozen hellscape that constituted most of July.

As before, the changes to the world are still present, particularly in your own Pokémon, are still occurring but seem to be slowing down a bit as the month continues on; a worrying trend, perhaps, but they haven't stopped altogether. That said, however, there's a change to the route that you may see from time to time - patches of those bright flowers in varying colors will show up along the routes themselves here and there. Perhaps a sign of gratitude from a friend you've helped out...

By Tuesday morning you'll find yourself in Sandgem Town. It's very small, similar to Floaroma Town in size, and the town itself smells vividly of the saltwater of the ocean; the main points of interest seem to be the research lab and the beach to the south of town proper, though there are a few locals present as well.

Your stay here shouldn't be long; you're actually very close to Lake Verity, and it won't take you long to reach it given how relatively simple and straightforward the routes here are. Thursday morning will see you on Route 201 - it's just as easy a walk as the previous route, if not easier, and if all goes well you should be able to find the lakefront by Friday evening...

Somewhere around—Duma, dear.

[With that and a little click of her tongue, he looks up, which involves shifting his entire orb body by putting his legs on Emmeryn's lap to lift himself up a little. Ow.]

Here we are. [She gives him a gentle pat and he cuddles right up against her side again.]

I cannot say this is what I expected, but he seems quite pleased with himself.

[OH... there it is. This has got to be one of the strangest looking creatures she's ever seen, and she's seen some weird stuff.]

Evolving does seem to be a point of pride for them... even if they have trouble adjusting to their new size.

[She can't in good faith just leave Emmeryn like this, so she wracks her brain for some way to get Duma to move. Then it hits her- she reaches into her bag and pulls out some of the Old Gateau she found in that abandoned mansion. It's still fresh, amazingly, even after all this. She holds it in front of his face... does he even have a nose?]

Perhaps you'd like a little bit of this?

[D...does he have a nose... Does he? Does he have a mouth? If absolutely nothing at all he's intrigued by there being absolutely anything in his face. Gift? Present? He looks towards Emmeryn for approval first but her Ralts stands up in her lap in an attempt to exercise the correct amount of stranger danger, taking a few very important steps partway in front of Duma.]

Now, now. Morag is a friend.

[Ralts backs off a little, at least, and Duma, delightfully useless as always, just sort of...closes his eyes and hits his face against the Old Gateau. Thaaaanks???]

Something tells me that isn't what that is for.

[Emmeryn just chuckles, though.]

[That could have gone better. But at least he likes it?

Morag takes a few steps back, still holding the cake out, but now its a few feet away.]

You may have another try if you come this way.
divinedescendant: (the bones with which you creak)

[Hm. Hmmmmmmmmmm. Duma just sort of rumbles and wavers in place for a moment, considering his options here. Emmeryn's reassuring little pat on his backside spurs him into motion, though, and he slowly waddles over towards Morag and the cake—leaving Emmeryn free to scoop her Ralts up out of her lap and into one arm to hold at her hip like a baby, and hustle over to her belongings while Duma's distracted hitting his face against the cake some more. At least eat it you asshole???]

Morag, you are absolutely brilliant.

[Morag, meanwhile, seems kind of stunned?]

I wasn't actually sure it would work...

[She's still offering the cake to Duma in hopes that maybe he'll figure out how to put it in his mouth... if he has one.]

He's a curious little thing. You found just the trick.

[mm "little" is absolutely pushing it these day..s. The mystery of Duma's mouth remains unsolved for another few moments as he continues hitting his face against it, but this seems fun enough for him... Another few face-butts and he takes one tiny bite of the cake, though. He stomps a little in place and makes a low rumbling sound, apparently pleased, but instead of trying for more, just lightly hits his face against Morag instead in what is likely supposed to be a fond gesture.]

Oh, dear. You've gone and made a friend.
