Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. [Hmm, must be kind of a sore subject for some reason. Well, Yuri's not one to press, so he'll let it go.]

I wouldn't exactly call it peaceful. We've got monsters lurking just outside the barriers protecting the cities, and just in the past few months we've nearly seen at least two different wars. Thankfully both of those were averted, but it's not exactly a peaceful place.

[He leans back and folds his arms behind his head as he considers. How to describe Terca Lumireis...]

It's not bad, though. Tensions are high between the Empire and the guilds, but things are getting better.

[You don't mind if he joins you, right? Well, he's taking a seat anyway. As usual, Roc comes and sits beside him and he pats her on the head.]

Luck's not usually my thing, so you know what? I'll take it.

Huh. Sounds kinda complicated. Is it something a lot of people follow?

I've fought way worse things than you. Which isn't to say you can't kick my ass - maybe you can, maybe you can't, I won't know until we get started. But I can guarantee you can't fuckin' hurt me.

[He'll square up, the gesture easy.]

So if you're going to hold back on me because that uptight lady told us to? Yeah, I wouldn't recommend doing that.

Who knows, maybe being brought here marks a turning point in your life. Maybe now you'll be lucky. No more worrying about people or B.O.W.s chasing after you, just adorable little creatures to worry about.

Fair enough. I've been wondering if they're going to come after us, but it doesn't seem like they've even searched the city yet. I guess they've got other things to worry about.

Wouldn't I like that. Unfortunately, I've got to get back to where I came from eventually. Sticking around's not really an option.

Yeah, I understand. It's not really an option for me either. Places to go, stuff to do, [cataclysms to stop] you know how it is.

It certainly can be, but that's why priests such as myself help others understand His word and teachings. In my world it is the most popular religion, though that wasn't always the case.

It is a farce. Much the same like a world without life would be considered "peaceful".

[ They're in total agreement here, though Shirou's voice has an almost cold quality to it. ]

Honestly, I think most people want peace. There is no need for something as dramatic as this or ... well, that.

I doubt I'd be too happy here anyway. Even if everyone was a little less...y'know.

[To someone who has never even seen fight Jake before, it sounds like a lot of bravado that may or may not have reasons to exist. He sure won't risk spraining or injuring someone when they haven't even left the first city!

Kiryu barely finished saying that when he bolts forward, having decided his strategy. He rears back an arm, swinging to the side of Jake's torso and preparing to follow it with the other fist onto the opposite side and upwards. His intent is mostly to drive Jake against the ropes]

Yeah. It'd take a long time to get used to a world like this. And even then I'm not sure I'd ever be able to really settle in. I wouldn't say fighting's what I live for, but it sure makes life a lot more entertaining.

Something about me? Hmm... [ He's more or less an open book, but aside from a few outstanding situations he considers himself pretty normal.

Ah! Wait, that's something most people can't do! Yosh! He holds up a finger before saying: ] I can see spirits!

[He's quiet for a moment at that. Feeds the puppy another berry. She takes it without complaint, though she doesn't seem enthusiastic about it, either.]

Fighting always has been what I live for. It's what I make my living off of, and even when I'm not on the job it's the one thing I know I'm really good at. There's not much here for someone like me.

Oh? I don't know him, but I feel like I understand what you mean anyway. A few of these guys remind me of my friends too. [ Johan, it doesn't count when you're talking about the Crystal Beasts and they're basically pokemon already. ]

Well, hopefully we'll be able to do what we can for this world and figure out a way to get home soon. Wouldn't want you to be too bored here, yeah?

[It's light, but he thinks he gets it.]

Yeah. I don't like what's been done to everyone here, either - it kind of fucks with my head, you know? But I don't know what I'm supposed to do about it, either. I doubt gods want much to do with people like me.

There's only one way to find out. Besides, I don't really think the gods can really complain, it's not like they've got a lot of options for help here.

I think things'll work out. We'll figure something out.
