I think I can see where that sort of motivation would be seen as corrupt. The idea is that humans need to make these choices for the sake of it, right? Which is a fair point. But sometimes being a good person isn't something that comes naturally to people. I've seen it, and I'm sure you have too - people becoming better through helping each other, and getting used to the idea of being kind to each other by practicing it over and over until it becomes habit. They aren't bad people, they just never learned how to be good people.

For people like that, I'd think offering a reward would give them a reason to start being good people, instead of furthering their motivation to be bad. Does that make sense?
