Week 2.

WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... [Chelsea's got a backpack full of supplies and her Poké Balls in the water bottle pocket, so wandering is simple enough. However, she keeps close to the group, watching the empty skies with a frown.]

It's so weird to just see nobody, you know? Hey, why do you think Team Galactic even wanted this, anyway?

[Come nighttime, she'll be looking for a campsite and pointing out suggestions to anyone who might listen.]

That flat looks pretty stable, right? Or is being out in the open a problem?

It's "peaceful," I suppose. I think whenever you get people with god complexes, they've always convinced themselves they're doing something good to a certain extent.

Maybe, unless they just want to show how great they are.

Well, I know Cyrus doesn't have statues of himself everywhere, so I feel like he's the kind of person who actually believes in his own nonsense.

Oh, that's right, too. Come to think of it, do we know he's human?

...I mean, that's definitely the impression I got from Cynthia.

And not, like, a robot secretly.

I doubt anyone involved is a robot.

I dunno, it's not common, but it's possible.

I'm still really doubting it. He would have to have some kind of creator, wouldn't he?

Nighttime

Pokemon won't attack us, but being in the open could make it easier for Team Galactic to find us.

Yeah, that's true. We probably at least have to post watches.

That's a proposal to bring to everyone. Personally I wouldn't mind taking part in such plans.

I still wish we had, y'know, a vehicle or something...

...it would be easier to move around if we had a bus or something similar... [Wait a second--] Have you seen any highways or streets anywhere?

[He doesn't remember seeing any. He has seen vehicles, but not highways]

Just the walking paths. It seems kinda inefficient if you ask me.

[Jake just kind of shrugs at the question regarding Team Galactic; there are things about it that have been kind of bugging him, really.]

I'm kinda wondering why they didn't want it for everyone. That Saturn guy seemed pretty okay.

Yeah, though maybe it's just that the top bosses already think they're good enough. I mean, Cynthia was giving the impression that he was a big deal.

I dunno. If you're going to get rid of spirit because...reasons, I guess...

Anyway, if you're getting rid of all that, I'd think they'd want to get rid of that guy's anger issues.

Guess so. But some people think they're above even their own law. I mean, I don't understand it myself, but there was this whole thing back home where this Criminal Guild exec threw a coup of the whole organization because she wanted to be able to do whatever she wanted and not hide around in the shadows waiting for things. Scary stuff.

[bloodspent]

Sounds like she'd get along great with this guy I knew back home. He was apparently the national security adviser for an entire goddamn country, only he was carrying out terrorist attacks in his spare time.

[...Did anyone ever find out why Simmons was doing that, he just doesn't know.]

I don't get it! Why do so many people go corrupt when they set out to protect the people?

Because they can, I guess.

All that stuff about power corrupting as a default, huh... That's just depressing when you think about it.

Well, yeah, but it's just how shit works.
