Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

Night

[ That would Zelda with her Beldum and she...! ... Doesn't know either. Actually, she blinks a little bit and nods. She had gone over to speak with Eustace about what he had seen around today so far, and right now, well. ]

I do not know either. Shall we investigate?

[Hi, Zelda and Beldum. Eustace nods- he's not opposed to finding out what they are, even if he doesn't think they'll be much trouble with the state of this world's wildlife.]

Yeah, let's go.
hyruglyphics: (more expressive!)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-12 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[ Look she's... curious...

But with another nod and a determined look, she does let him go first, but she's in no way hesitating to go and head out towards there with her partner to get on in there to see what's up!! ]
thunderwolf: (♦ silent judging)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-12 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
[It's totally fair. And Eustace would be lying if he said he wasn't curious too.

It doesn't take more than a few steps for them to leave the remaining light of the campfire and fully plunge into the night. Thankfully the moon provides a little more light, but they're more or less able to get closer to the eyes without them taking notice of their exact location.

Their footsteps tip the creatures off though, and the eyes start moving back a bit. Their form at this distance is recognizable though- in part because their own eyes illuminate each other as they sway, and Eustace and Zelda will be able to make out what they are before they continue retreating. It's a group of five or six ghouls...?]

Huh. [Eustace speaks in a low whisper.] Bet these things could be a nuisance if they weren't like this.
hyruglyphics: (so like I'll get some better)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-12 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ she does jump a little at them irregardless though, a bit surprised by the ghouls! As she does though, she comments, ]

... I remember reading of these. I thought they resembled poes, but they do even more so in person.

[ quietly, of course, and trying to not ... you know, make them run off or anything more than they already are. ]

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-12 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
[It is kind of unsettling to see something like them milling around. They're different from the other Pokemon he's seen on the route so far, almost like they shouldn't actually be here.

Eustace keeps his gaze on them as they slow their retreat, having realized they're no longer being followed. Now it's just another staredown.]

Poes something from your world?
hyruglyphics: (for the icons!)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-12 05:08 am (UTC)(link)
Disembodied spirits of the dead, unable to rest as they ought to. The light of their souls is displaced into lanterns they carry ... their eyes make me think of them.

[ So, there's that. ]
thunderwolf: (♦ shoulder glance)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-12 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
[Eustace regards the Ghost Pokemon with that information in mind, watching their eyes sway between holes of their hollow skulls.]

I get what you mean. [...] Did the information on the Pokemon itself match up at all?
hyruglyphics: (But Pi does slave labor)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-12 05:17 am (UTC)(link)
They are ghost types called... Duskull, I believe?

[ she racks her brain for the other relevant information. It was a children's book, so... ]

They venture out only at night, based on what I read.
thunderwolf: (♦ mild interest)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-13 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Not surprised. [They just wouldn't be nearly as creepy if they were wandering around during the day!] Whoever assigned the species name got straight to the point too, huh.

[...]

Anything about their nature? I'm thinking it's best we discourage them from what they're doing either way, to be safe.
hyruglyphics: (to be using them)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-14 05:14 pm (UTC)(link)
There was a warning that children shouldn't go near them in the night. Though it was framed in such a way that they only target bad children...

[ Mmmm Oh! ] And they are capable of moving through walls.
thunderwolf: (♦ neutral (the default))

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-19 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, you were reading a cautionary tale.

[That's the impression he's getting, at least. It's kind of specific to kids, and there aren't too many of those in the group. Hmm.]

Suppose we can just keep an eye on them for now.
hyruglyphics: (where my smiles at)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-19 05:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Probably. ... But even if it were the case, they do not seem particularly responsive.

[ She arches an eyebrow at them, considering . . . ]
thunderwolf: (♦ mild interest)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-20 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
[These particular Duskull don't seem interested in doing any spooky things aside from staring, it's true. Now that they've lengthened the distance between themselves and the pair, they're right back at it.]

...Yeah, like the other wild Pokemon. It's a good frame of reference to have if they start getting their energy back, though.
hyruglyphics: (weeee)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-20 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hmm! Yeah, that's true. ... If. That seems like a real, real big if, honestly. But that is their goal.

... Well, her goal. ]

Agreed, and we know they can linger around this area at night, where we don't even appear to be near an ruins.
thunderwolf: (♦ not having it)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-21 06:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[It's hard to say, but it also doesn't hurt to be prepared.]

I'll watch for them as we go. Got a feeling that they're not going to be the last Ghost-types we come across out here if these ones are already out of place.
hyruglyphics: (Pi'll clean up some more)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-23 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
No, it certainly will not be. In my field guide alone I can remember at least two other ghost species, a large gaseous creature called Gastly and a loud wailing one named Misdreavus.

[ So there are more ghosts than just these guys. ]
thunderwolf: (♦ stress)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-23 07:02 am (UTC)(link)
[He considers those descriptions...and his frown deepens a bit at the thought of a loud wailing Pokemon. Though something jogs his memory.]

Ah, yeah. That first one- Gastly? I think I remember seeing some around the city. Not out here on the road, though.

[So far.]
hyruglyphics: (I mean some look okay?)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-06-23 07:04 am (UTC)(link)
Did you? I've yet to see any other ghosts but these ones, myself. Though I have seen other pictures.

[ In her books. ]
