Week 2.

WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... Kind of! I don't know if "bold" is the right way to put it, but it's not wrong either. [ He turns to Ponyta and gestures for Inkay to come over. It does so obediently, and when it's close enough it gently pushes itself against the palm of his hand.

He gives it a gentle pat. ] How about Litleo? How would you say he's coming along?

[hesychast]

I'm happy to hear that, and it looks like I'm not the only one. [ What an affectionate pokemon. Definitely different from Litleo too. ]

He seems to..."be getting into things", I think is how you would describe it. [ Case in point, the batting has stopped but Litleo is still at Ponyta's heels rather than returning to Shirou. ]

[ It's most likely anticipating Johan at this point. He called to it, he was gonna pet it, it's being good and obedient! Something like that. ]

Eheh! Sounds like he's a troublemaker. [ Johan kneels down next to the Litleo. Ponyta has yet to retaliate, probably because Litleo isn't exactly a thread. ] Are you being good for your partner?

[hesychast]

[ Good 'ole operant conditioning but without the punishment, lucky Inkay! ]

...I suppose you could say I'm used to it. [ And from the sound of it, Shirou is amused by the coincidence. Litleo for his part headbutts Johan in that almost affectionate way. Close enough, probably. ]

[ Close enough! Especially for him. Inkay, however, floats down toward Litleo and hovers nearby. Ponyta continues giving no fucks. ]

Heheh! When you put it that way you sound really cool, Shirou. [ Johan reaches into one of his bag's pockets and pulls out a couple of different berries. Want one, Litleo? ]

Cool...? [ That is a term he barely knows, let alone one that's never been used to describe him. He blinks, not sure how to respond. Litleo on the other hand has no problem snagging a pink berry and chomping on it happily. ]

[ If this were Judai Shirou's befuddlement would go unnoticed. Fortunately, it isn't! Johan's pretty good at observing people and seeing their reactions, so he throws Shirou a sympathetic smile. Then he pets Litleo and thinks. ]

Sorry, I didn't know you weren't familiar with that word. Let's see... think of it as something like "impressive." You sounded really calm and collected there, so you sounded cool.

[hesychast]

[ Lucky him! Shakespeare is never this kind when Shirou misses a reference. ]

Ah, is that so? I hear that often but...I've never been called cool before. [ He brings a hand to his chin, thoughtful. ] And while I wouldn't call myself impressive, I can't refuse a compliment from you. Thank you, Johan.
