Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

Isn't this where we tell spooky stories to keep people up at night?

[yuri no, don't be an asshole]

[ God, Yuri ... what are you planning. ]

Yeah, definitely. Funny stories can count too, if you have any really good ones.

[ He picks up one of the sticks lying on the ground. ]

Were you asking because you have a spooky tale to tell?
fatalstrikes: (✵ 007)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-12 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
I could probably keep you up all night with funny stories. I've got a pretty wild cast of characters accompanying me on my journey.

[Well, it is a jrpg, so no kidding.]

And yeah, I've got a pretty spooky tale to tell. You wanna hear it?
ventulus: (40)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-13 12:50 am (UTC)(link)
You do? You should tell me about them sometime!

[ He's all ears either way. ]

And yeah, I want to hear it. I haven't heard any spooky stories in a while.

[ Ventus looks pretty eager...unsurprisingly. ]

If you need something lighter after this, maybe I will.

[He looks pleased though, and he doesn't waste any time launching into his story.]

It happened while we were at sea. It was a bright, sunny day, but as we were travelling a thick fog rolled in. It was dark and gloomy, the sort of thing you'd expect to see late at night - we could barely see anything around us. Just then, our ship stopped working. No matter what we did, we couldn't get it to start.

There was a loud clang and we saw something emerge from the fog - a platform, dropped by a much larger ship. None of us had heard it approach and when we tried to signal the crew, we got no answer. The ship itself was a mystery too. It didn't look like any ships anyone had seen and one of the people with us said it must've been ancient.

A few of us decide to go exploring since we can't move anyway. We thought the ship was empty at first, but when we entered the cabins, bang! The door shut behind us.

No one was there to shut it and it wasn't like the wind would've been strong enough to push it closed. So by now we were a little worried and pretty convinced that someone was onboard with us. We tried to get that door open, but no matter what we did, it wouldn't budge.

The only thing we could do was continue deeper into the ship. We passed through room after room, with no sign of any other way out. We still didn't see anyone as we walked, but occasionally something would move out of the corners of our eyes... but there was never anything there when we looked.

Eventually we reached what must've been the captain's quarters. The books there were ancient, dusty, and falling apart. One of the ones we found was dated a thousand years ago. But even creepier? The captain - what was left of him, anyway - was still sitting in his chair... guarding a red box.

[He pauses for dramatic effect.]

We decided to take the box and see what was inside, but none of us could get it open. Just then, the captain's skeleton began to move! Its bony arms reached for us, fingers grasping to snatch the box back, to keep us from leaving with his treasure!

We ran as fast as we could, out the door through the ship, never once looking back. But even as we went, the clattering sound of bones echoed after us...

The ship was working again when we got back to it, and we were able to safely leave the ghost ship behind. We still haven't been able to get that red box open though, and some nights after everyone's gone to sleep... it rattles, the clattering sound of bones growing ever closer...

[...Okay so he embellished a lot and they did figure out what was in the box, but this is a way creepier ending.]

[ Throughout the entire time, Ventus' eyes were wide and large as he was listening in closely to Yuri's spooky tale, also holding the marshmellow close to the fire still as he did. He even tried to hold back a jump at when the other said 'bang' and was mostly successful.

... Though around the part regarding the Captain, he leans forward, and then after the pause he makes a small gasp of surprise.

When Yuri finishes, he still has this gobsmacked look on his face, until he shakes out of it. ]

Do you still hear the bones rattling even though you're here?

[ God he totally believes it 100% even though it's embellished. ]

[Ventus, you're exactly the right kind of audience for this story. Thank you for eating it up!!]

I haven't heard them. Yet, anyway. It's been kind of nice to be free of that. But sometimes I think I see something moving out of the corner of my eye...

[He gasps loudly and turns suddenly to look over toward the bushes.]

...Or maybe not.

[yuri you're an asshole]
ventulus: (39)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-14 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Wait, what?

[ Ventus looks surprised and suddenly raises to his feet at that as he turns to look at the bushes himself. Then he looks back at Yuri when it ends up being a big fat nothing (predictably). ]

Oh. Well, if you hear anything, let me know. That guy won't stand a chance if it's us against him!

[ ... Because he still thinks it's entirely possible for a skeleton to somehow travel to an entirely different world. Someone teach this kid some sense. ]

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-14 10:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[This is the cutest thing he's ever seen, he loves it.]

You really think so? Well, I'll put my faith in you, so don't let me down!
ventulus: (40)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-15 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
[ He looks pretty proud at that. ]

Thanks! So... why were you guys traveling anyway? Were you just looking for treasure?

[ He's a little curious about that. ]
fatalstrikes: (✵ 75)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-15 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
Nah, it all started because someone stole a blastia from the Lower Quarter. I picked up a friend along the way who wanted to meet with another friend of mine, and from there we ended up gathering a few other like-minded individuals.

I eventually did get the core back, but after that my friend wanted to continue travelling, so I went with her.

[That's the simple way of putting it, anyway.]

We kinda stumbled into something bigger than ourselves, so we were trying to stop it; we'd just finished taking the guy responsible for all of it down. And then I woke up here.
ventulus: (15)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-15 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Oh. Well, at least you weren't taken from in the middle of doing all of that. It sounds like a pretty big deal...

[ He tilted his head at that. ]

What's a blastia supposed to be, anyway? Some kind of thing that...blasts stuff around?

[ If it was, he could see why he'd want to get it back. It'd sure sound like trouble in the wrong hands... ]
fatalstrikes: (✵ 69)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-15 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I should've explained that... No, not the one I was looking for. Blastia have all sorts of uses, and sure, some of them can be used as weapons. But the one I was looking for was to power a fountain in the Lower Quarter. Without it, the fountain was going out of control and flooding.

[i mean he sure took his sweet time getting it back so it probably wasn't that big of a deal???]
ventulus: (14)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-15 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
...Oh.

[ That sounds like a pretty big deal to him!! ]

Well, at least they did get it back. Did you know why someone stole it in the first place?
fatalstrikes: (✵ 046)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-15 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
They were collecting blastia for some guy. Probably got paid pretty well for a blastia that large. The whole operation's been taken care of, though; so people won't have to worry about that anymore.

[Never mind that the guy responsible for it all is hella dead, that's not important!!]
ventulus: (24)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-16 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's good.

[ He smiles a little. He kind of thinks doing all of that is pretty amazing -- it sounded like it probably got a little complicated but he's glad it worked. ]

I haven't known you for long, but...you really do sound like the type of person people can depend on.
fatalstrikes: (✵ 044)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-17 08:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Dependable, huh? I kinda like that. I hope I don't let you down.

[is this a trustfell joke]
ventulus: (59)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-17 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
[ No, what are you talking about. Ofc not.

Yes it is. ]

I'm sure you won't, unless when it's time for sleep you started to snore out here sooo loud you wake everyone up.

Hah! I'm pretty sure I don't snore. I think someone would've told me by now if I was keeping them up!
