Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

He strikes me as the politically-minded sort, for his own brand of diplomacy. That's something I can handle easily. But if and when it comes down to a confrontation by this world's rules, we have to be prepared for that as well.

You think you're gonna have to beat the shit out of him one day.

[It's not a question.]
discutio: (one maniac at a time we'll take it back)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 07:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Me, personally? Hardly, my specialty lies in politics and organization. But all of us as some form of concerted effort? That's sounding more likely.
bloodspent: (23. heavy as a feather)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
If you thought there was no chance, you wouldn't be out here.

[Preparing for the possibility still implies the possibility exists and all.]
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 08:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm a strategist. I choose to account for every chance that comes to mind no matter how faint. So while I estimate Saturn's eventual defeat to be a group effort, I take no chances when it comes to assuring it will happen one way or another.

['everybody should git gud', in short]

We never did see what he fights with. Cynthia had her huge dragon thing, but whatever he was using was in the ball already.

I don't really care for that all that much.
discutio: (silver clouds with gray lining)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 09:17 pm (UTC)(link)
It's an indirect method of fighting I don't care for either, but with no other weaponry available that I know of we may have to rely on it for now.
bloodspent: (46. to wait around forever)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 09:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I also just don't like the idea of fighting him in general. Not that I don't want to kick his smarmy ass, but he reminds me of guys I've had to face down before.

Never pleasant, facing down guys like that.
discutio: (we are the jack-o-lanterns in july)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 09:30 pm (UTC)(link)
...No, it often isn't. His arrogance could indicate an overblown ego or confidence in skill he actually possesses. The former is far easier to deal with than the latter, yet I'd sooner err on the side of caution and assume him to be an actual threat rather than one who believes he is.
bloodspent: (28. when you were there first)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
...Yeah.

[...]

How much do you think he believes in the shit he's talking about?
discutio: (dance alone to the beat of your heart)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
That, I'm not sure; a brief conversation isn't enough for me to get a proper read on his motivations. Ulterior motives wouldn't come as a surprise, however.
bloodspent: (23. heavy as a feather)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
I wouldn't be too surprised either way, I think. People do some weird things for their idea of peace.
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
You do have a point. Ultimately his motives interest me slightly less than his methods and how to deal with them.
bloodspent: (28. when you were there first)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 09:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Some people are too fucked up for the motive to matter too much. But I've dealt with one of the politically-minded ones before. From what I've seen of those guys, the motives inform the method.

[...he's not a tactician, but he's not a fucking idiot, either.]
discutio: (silver clouds with gray lining)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
A fair enough point. I admit it's been some time since I dealt with that sort, I do hope I'm not so far out of practice as to fall behind.
bloodspent: (03. you made a vow)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Lucky you. Never had time for politicians, I've always found 'em a waste of breath. Or just fuckin' insane, which isn't all that much better but at least they're more fun to pick off.

[...]

No offense.
discutio: (and i'll burn you to the ground)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
[The remark didn't seem to bother Ignis that much, even getting a quiet laugh out of him.]

None taken. A political career often requires varying stages of insanity.

[Case in point.]
bloodspent: (56. the candle from both ends)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as your type of insanity can look at the world and go "You know what? I live here, and all my stuff is here" and find that a salient argument for not destroying the place? Then you're pretty all right.
discutio: (crosswalks crossed hearts hope-to-dies)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
That's not too far off my perspective on the matter.

[i mean, he certainly wouldn't destroy it himself at least]
bloodspent: (03. you made a vow)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 10:26 pm (UTC)(link)
As long as you've got that and no weird fetish for virology, we should be okay.
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 10:38 pm (UTC)(link)
...I am faintly compelled to ask why that specifically proves a problem.
bloodspent: (04. never get mad)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
In the past three years we've had at least one scientist try to play God and infect everyone with stuff that was going to make almost everybody into monsters using the power of...eugenics, I guess, and one politician that wanted to infect everyone with something that was going to make everyone the walking undead because...

[...]

You know, he explained it to me, but I was a little busy trying not to die to pay attention. He probably should have started unveiling the villain speech before ordering his guys to open fire, it was kinda hard to listen.

Anyway, the point is that viruses don't lead anywhere good.
discutio: (one maniac at a time we'll take it back)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 11:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...

[He's just. Going to be very quiet for a second. It's probably fine.]

No. No, they do not.
bloodspent: (01. cheated and lied)

[personal profile] bloodspent 2018-06-13 11:17 pm (UTC)(link)
So which of those was a little too familiar?

[Again, not an idiot.]
discutio: (silver clouds with gray lining)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-13 11:19 pm (UTC)(link)
...Define 'make everyone into monsters', if you wouldn't mind.

[THIS IS FINE]
