Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

[It's actually a pretty impressive display. He wouldn't have expected it at all from how scatterbrained Sena seemed on their first day. Not a good day for first impressions, it seems.

When Sena stops for their chat, Eustace tips his head a bit, skeptical.]

For an entire day?

Huh? Yeah...

[He sounds confused - like what he's doing is normal, why should Eustace sound so weirded out?]

I mean, I can't run at my top speed, I'd pass out in a few minutes... [He's working on that, though. At least he doesn't collapse after a single dash like he used to.] So this pace is fine.

thunderwolf: (♦ interest)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-19 02:46 am (UTC)(link)
[That's because it's not normal!!]

Huh. [...] You're an odd kid.

[Thanks, Eustace... But it doesn't sound like he's saying it in a negative way. In fact-]

Must be highly valued in football, whatever that is.

[He remembered the term, at least...?!]

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-19 03:04 am (UTC)(link)
Er...

[He hasn't heard that before, actually. Usually, he's called a pretty unassuming, plain kid (thanks, Tohsaka). So it takes him a short moment to answer.]

Yeah, it kinda is...I mean, the position I play requires speed, but a lot of positions in football benefit from being fast, too...
thunderwolf: (♦ coffee)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-19 04:11 am (UTC)(link)
[It's pretty difficult to call speed like that "plain", not to mention those patterns Sena's been running in...]

It's a game, then?

[They're on the road with time to kill, so Eustace is finally doing it. He's asking about football.]
swiftasacoursingkawa: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n28/midiheadcrasher/kufufutofu/15/es21-13kufufutofu.png (are you ok?)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-19 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
[To be fair, as fast as he looks like he's running, he's still very well within the human limits of speed. Compared to you guys, he thinks he's pretty plain.]

Uh, yeah! It's a game where teams of eleven go up against each other to try and get a ball into each other's end zone...I mean, it's more complicated than that, but that's the basic idea?
thunderwolf: (♦ mild interest)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-20 06:22 am (UTC)(link)
[The struggles of shounen sports skills vs jrpg skills...]

Huh. [It's undetermined if it interests Eustace or not, but-] Those patterns you were running in part of that?
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (a little gentle smile)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-20 06:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, you noticed?

[Sena, it'd be pretty hard not to notice.]

They're, uh, pass routes...one way to get the ball around is to throw it to your teammates, so it's patterns the players will run to try and avoid the other team.
thunderwolf: (♦ thinking)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-21 06:32 pm (UTC)(link)
Mm.

[Maybe to some it just looked like he was running around erratically. Teens being teens.]

Makes sense. Take them by surprise so they have no way to stop you. [...] Looks like your Pokemon's picked up on it too. Could be useful for battles.
swiftasacoursingkawa: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n28/midiheadcrasher/kufufutofu/15/es21-13kufufutofu.png (are you ok?)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-22 01:49 am (UTC)(link)
That's the idea...your offensive strategy is supposed to get around their defensive one.

[And then Sena blinks in surprise.]

I hadn't thought of that...I just thought it was nice that Monta seemed to want to try.
thunderwolf: (♦ neutral (the default))

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-23 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
Well, it is. [Nice, that is. It's progress, getting Pokemon to seem interested in anything.] But you should take battles into further consideration. There's no telling what else we'll run into.

[There's the ever-present threat of Team Galactic, for one...]
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (a little gentle smile)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-24 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[Sena sighs.]

You're probably right...never mind Team Galactic, we've got to deal with finding gods or whatever...

[He grins hesitantly.] Getting stronger is our only option, right?
thunderwolf: (♦ silent judging)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-28 03:07 am (UTC)(link)
...yeah.

[That's pretty much an all-encompassing "yeah". They do need to get stronger, especially if these godlike Pokemon end up being a problem like many primal beasts tend to be...]

So next time you train your Pokemon in a battle, try confusing the enemy with those patterns.
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (what. what is it)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-28 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
Um, okay! That's actually a really good idea, so thanks...

[It's very...Hiruma-like, he thinks. Huh. Who'd have thought he'd be able to use football like this?

He scratches at his cheek, thinking.]

They're definitely learning them faster than I did, at least...I just wish I knew if they were already smart like that, or if they're just listening to commands really well...
thunderwolf: (♦ thinking)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-28 03:36 am (UTC)(link)
They seem receptive to commands. Must be a common trait, since battles involving Trainers and their Pokemon are a common occurrence in this world. [...] But following more elaborate commands requires competency. Despite their current state, they seem to retain that.
swiftasacoursingkawa: http://i108.photobucket.com/albums/n28/midiheadcrasher/kufufutofu/15/es21-13kufufutofu.png (are you ok?)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-28 03:43 am (UTC)(link)
[You're using a lot of big words, Eustace. But Sena thinks he gets it.]

So they really are that smart, then...

[Monta scurries back to his feet, apparently wondering why Sena isn't keeping up with him.] Erk...sorry, Monta...
thunderwolf: (♦ shoulder glance)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-28 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[He sure did go into full business mode there, didn't he.

He watches Monta and Sena's antics for a moment, before-]

You can get back to your patterns if you want. [...] Thanks for sating my curiosity.
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (what. what is it)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-06-28 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks...uhm... [He bows his head in apology.]

Sorry for bothering you.
thunderwolf: (♦ thinking)

[personal profile] thunderwolf 2018-06-29 05:10 am (UTC)(link)
[...]

Just watch where you're running from now on.

[Is that a "Don't worry about it"? He doesn't sound that mad, at least.]
swiftasacoursingkawa: icon by <user name=kufufutofu =livejournal.com> (a little gentle smile)

[personal profile] swiftasacoursingkawa 2018-07-01 08:25 pm (UTC)(link)
[it's funny because he ends up running over Vee later]

Uh...y-yes! Thanks!

[and there he goes.]
