Week 2.

WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... [Sena seems surprised to hear Monta interject all of a sudden, and while the monkey doesn't sound offended or even act hostilely, it does climb up to the top of his head. Almost like as if he's saying "you started it."

Sena's too taken aback to object, so he can only sigh.]

...Okay...Monta and I kind of crashed into it while we were running...

[So that's why it's got the bandage.]

[Kiryu didn't expect the Pokemon to intervene. That was quite the unexpected interjection, Monta! He's so surprised he has to take a moment to recover]

...I see. I don't know what kind of behavior you're used to when it's about animals retaliating, but in my opinion it's not going to bite your heels or anything like that.

Seems to me like it wants to stick around for a while.

[If it wasn't so empty Kiryu would think it wants compensation, yep]

Yes. For revenge.

[Monta quirks his head, as if he can't comprehend what Sena means by wanting revenge.

The Eevee doesn't get it, either. But Sena seems absolutely convinced of this.]

No, not for revenge! What do you think it's going to do?

[How does this creature get revenge on you, Sena? Kiryu's starting to grow curious about that]

I-I dunno! I mean, it's a Pokemon, isn't it? They do all sorts of things - it could, I dunno, spit fire at me, or freeze me, or maybe fry me with electricity, or, uh...something...

[Sena. You might not know what that thing is, but could it really do all that?]

You're overthinking this.

[Kiryu crouches near Eevee. See? He's near this furball and he's not getting mauled!]

Come on, get over here. Pick it up.

[THAT'S BECAUSE IT HASN'T GOT BACK ITS CLEARLY REVENGE-ORIENTED MINDSET YET.]

Um...okay...?

[His voice is a squeak as he comes over - but he does come over without hesitating, so he's clearly no stranger to conquering his own fear. Sena also wastes no time taking a deep breath before reaching down to pick up the Eevee.

Said Eevee doesn't seem impressed by this display at all.]

[Half a minute passes. No fireballs, no electricity...this went just as he expected! Nice!]

You have made yourself vulnerable. You have exposed your face to it from a close distance, yet you're unharmed.

[Still, Sena seems rather worried it wants revenge, so...]

Now you need to compensate it in some manner. Got some food?

[Well, okay, this is correct and logical BUT STILL. REVENGE IS NOT LOGICAL-]

Er...

[He sweats nervously.]

I gave it some food after Zelda helped me out with bandaging it earlier, so...

[The Eevee has already been plied with bribes of generic food pellet deliciousness.]

You gave it food, you healed it...I'd say there's nothing else you can do other than praying and hoping for the best.

[So if by some twist of fate this Eevee is as vengeful as Sena is and it returns to tear his hair off with its little fangs, then you'll be screwed, Sena! No force on earth will stop it!]
