Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

Oh. I bet if you keep looking hard enough, though, there's bound to be a Pokemon like that around somewhere.

[ Wait a minute there's something behind this bush isn't it?! ... Oh it's just a branch and he nearly trips over it because it's kind of sticking out low-level like. ]
enjoymyatelier: king arthur with insubstantial tits was right theeeeere (but sooooolaaaaaaa)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-17 09:19 pm (UTC)(link)
Ah, I'm sure. I'm probably not going to end up satisfied because I like coming up with my own means of defense, but... well, it's not like I can use magecraft here. So I'll have to make do.

[where ARE these chansey things......... like surely they can't be putting as much effort into hiding now right]

Oh.

[ Wait. ]

Magecraft? You can make magic spells?

[ That sounds like the type of thing Aqua could do. So cool...! ]
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-18 07:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, that's basically what it is. In my world, there's a clear distinction between what we'd call "magecraft" and what we'd call "true magic." Basically, magecraft is doing things that are technically possible by exploiting the rules a bit- so conjuring fire would be "magecraft," because you can make a fire through normal means. True magic is more of a miracle, like traveling between worlds or time travel or something like that.

Oh, well in my world everything is just all called magic -- from fire spells to traveling between worlds and time travel.

[ He pauses... ]

Is that why you were so surprised when I brought up the visiting worlds thing?
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-20 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I understand that it's probably going to seem like a bit of a pedantic description to most people, but I'm paid to be a pedant about it, so you know how it is.

But yes. Admittedly, I probably should've assumed that it was like space travel, all things considered.

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-20 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Is that also why you have a really long name?

[ He nods, though. Ventus doesn't find it too weird to be particular about that stuff -- it sounds exactly like the type of thing he'd leave to older people, so. You know. ]

Maybe. I mean, we do have a lot of weird stuff going on.
enjoymyatelier: kayneth looking smug as hell in a way that could possibly be construed as amicable (you cannot defeat him.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-20 04:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, the "El-Melloi" part is a title, so yes. If I hadn't attained it, I'd just be Kayneth Archibald, but that's not something that would ever have happened.

[it's not aggressively smug in the preening sort of way, it's aggressively smug in the "I'm just stating a basic fact" way.]

And oh? If you're willing to discuss it, I'm interested in hearing it.

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-22 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
[ He kind of finds it funny...Kayneth you keep being you.

But, he's not expecting him to indicate his interest in further discussion regarding that, but actually - ]

I think I am, but it's not really been in the complicated way some people might have?

[ Listen, Ventus knows he's no Aqua. She'd probably all over this kind of magic stuff, though even he finds it something he's thinking about because of their situation. ]

I've been thinking about it a little because...we don't really know how they managed to pull us here, right? [ Unless he's missed something. ] Whether it was spaceships or magic or ... something -- and I know for sure we're not from the same world, because I know you guys didn't come from my home world.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-23 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
Right, of course.

...

Honestly, what's bothering me is that the aspects of the deities that Cynthia said escaped have very little to do with breaking the laws of reality. I suppose there's a possibility they could be what brought us here, but I'm wondering what else would be involved.
ventulus: (47)

[personal profile] ventulus 2018-06-23 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Maybe they were involved just a little? But I think you're right too -- if they don't have much of that sort of stuff then it'd make sense that they weren't really super involved in bringing us here.

[ ... ]

So it was probably a combination of other things. Something we're probably going to need to find out somehow on our own, but...yeah.
enjoymyatelier: but what would that even do. (gradients of babylon...?)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-06-24 10:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Right. I think we might be able to find a thing or two out if we read up on local legends a bit, but it seems like the best place to do that is on the other end of the region, based on some of the travel books I read.
