Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

[ . . . What is a True Magic? ]

I suppose that makes sense. ... Though if I may ask, what is the distinction between any other spell and True Magic?
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

Ah, I forgot that distinction isn't particularly clear... well, "normal" magic is more accurately referred to as "magecraft," and it's more like a replication of phenomena that are technically natural to a certain extent. Like, if I were to conjure fire, for example, that would be magecraft, because it's something that's possible within the laws of the universe. True Magic is something that should be impossible, but someone managed to accomplish it anyway.

So basically, magecraft is bending the laws of physics and finding loopholes, whereas True Magic is looking at the rules and taking a baseball bat to them.

[ Interesting. She wonders if there's a distinction there, the laws of the gods or the laws of men? But all the same, she tilts her head and then nods slightly! ]

I see! Which means that travel between worlds would be considered impossible by the laws of ... Physics?

[ Physics is a weird name for a god. ]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-07-09 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
It's a great deal of laws interlocking with each other, some of which are physics. Part of it is that the world just doesn't want to allow those kinds of things on some level.
hyruglyphics: (to be using them)

[personal profile] hyruglyphics 2018-07-09 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
The order of the gods, then?

[ . . . That makes sense to her? ]
enjoymyatelier: maybe he should check the foundations, come to think of it. (red car. good point.)

[personal profile] enjoymyatelier 2018-07-10 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Well... the gods don't really involve themselves in the affairs of the world anymore. It's more accurate to say that the world itself has a will of its own.

[ The will of... the world? And their gods don't involve themselves anymore? That's alien to her, but then, she supposes not all worlds will have goddesses like Hylia. They might solely have ones have more akin to the Golden Goddesses. She nods slightly and takes this moment to clean off the sticks she had roasted the mushrooms on, determining if they can be reused later. ]

True Magic must then be amazingly impressive.
enjoymyatelier: have fun storming the castle, kayneth (a totally honorable mage duel)

Oh, it definitely is. Any magus worth their salt would be beyond ecstatic to be able to accomplish it, though very few even get close.

[ which means his own research is probably no close to it. ]

And yes all no doubt try.

Indeed we do. It's all about pushing boundaries and seeing what we can accomplish with the resources we have available to us.

[ She nods at that, and honestly seems pleased for it. She looks into the fire and...

Honestly, good talk, man. ]
