Week 21.

WEEK 21 It's been a while since you were last in Eterna City. While it seems you've suffered another setback on Sunday morning, hopefully it won't completely break your morale; there have been many losses lately, but you have to keep going, especially once the state of things in Eterna City become more clear to you upon your arrival there. The city, for lack of a better word, seems torn - the buildings seem almost patchwork in places, having been torn apart at the seams and replaced with things that seem to have come from elsewhere and nowhere all at once. Parts of other buildings, parts of trees, parts of roads, even - stay in one spot long enough and you can see it happen. It isn't ripples or pulses, like it was with Dialga; this is violent, something sharp and harsh whipping through the air in a burst of energy, tearing through all inanimate objects in its path and replacing them with something that frankly shouldn't be there. Thankfully, the cause of this doesn't seem to be targeting you; it will leave you unharmed, though your Pokémon are definitely aware of it and the rending will cause them to flinch whenever it fires off, regardless of if it hits them or not. It's likely a stressful time for them - just as it is for the locals, who don't seem too willing to leave their homes at the moment... Yeah. That, or maybe it's just kind of a god thing. People tend to be pretty big on the notion that comprehending gods will scramble your brain and stuff; I know some say you can't even look at 'em, which is pretty obviously not the case here? But maybe it's one of those going mad from the revelation type things.

[Atsushi considers that for a moment, worrying his bottom lip between his teeth.]

It might be, yeah...I feel like these Pokemon that are gods and like...gods we would classify as being "gods" in our worlds are a little different. Like, this is the first time I've ever even encountered something in the physical real world that people considered a god, you know?

At that point it's like...maybe we've just interpreted gods wrong all along, or maybe they just exist as different entities in different worlds.

[He has no idea what he's even saying anymore though, all of this is so far beyond him he can hardly think about it.]

[...Oh my god, Atsushi.]

Kinda makes your head want to explode a little, yeah?

Just a little...

[Way more than a little, really.]

I'm just glad these gods are a little easier to actually confront if you ever get the opportunity to see one. Most other gods you just...hope they're out there, listening to what you're trying to say to them.

...Yeah. I haven't really believed in anything like that in a long time. Never had too much reason to think anybody's listening, you know? I'm pretty sure gods don't want to hear from people like me.

[gekkaju]

[Atsushi nods, looking at his hands.]

Yeah, I know what you mean. My orphanage was at a church, and it...wasn't great.

I don't think I really believe in anything like that either.

[bloodspent]

I mean, that sort of thing would do it.

I'm pretty open about what I do, everybody here knows already, but I'm a mercenary - I've killed a lot of people. So I'm pretty sure that whole "having a shot at not going to hell" ship has sailed.

[gekkaju]

[Atsushi curls his fingers into fists, holding them like that for a moment before he looks back up at Jake.]

That sort of thing only matters to people who believe in it though, right?

[Not saying you know...killing lots of people is how you should live your life, but.]
