Week 21.

WEEK 21

It's been a while since you were last in Eterna City.

While it seems you've suffered another setback on Sunday morning, hopefully it won't completely break your morale; there have been many losses lately, but you have to keep going, especially once the state of things in Eterna City become more clear to you upon your arrival there.

The city, for lack of a better word, seems torn - the buildings seem almost patchwork in places, having been torn apart at the seams and replaced with things that seem to have come from elsewhere and nowhere all at once. Parts of other buildings, parts of trees, parts of roads, even - stay in one spot long enough and you can see it happen. It isn't ripples or pulses, like it was with Dialga; this is violent, something sharp and harsh whipping through the air in a burst of energy, tearing through all inanimate objects in its path and replacing them with something that frankly shouldn't be there.

Thankfully, the cause of this doesn't seem to be targeting you; it will leave you unharmed, though your Pokémon are definitely aware of it and the rending will cause them to flinch whenever it fires off, regardless of if it hits them or not. It's likely a stressful time for them - just as it is for the locals, who don't seem too willing to leave their homes at the moment...

CURRENT LOCATION: ETERNA CITY
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES
SURROUNDING ROUTES: PLAINS/FOREST

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week twenty-one of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend.]

[That...leaves an awful pit in Atsushi's stomach, and for a moment he has to just distract himself with the pattern of the wood in the top of the desk.]

I'm sorry. I'm glad you guys tried something, at least.
eudaimonikos: (and I'll tell you that I am fine)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-02 04:32 am (UTC)(link)
Of course we did.

[Michael seems discomfited as well, fiddling with a cufflink.]

Lotta people you never even met. And I've wondered if there were other people like you - woke up separately, didn't stick around long enough to be found
gekkaju: (22)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-03 04:08 pm (UTC)(link)
[Oh, that's...]

That would have been so lonely.

[And frightening? To just wake up somewhere strange for a while with no explanation, only to disappear again.]

You're right though...it's pretty much by chance that you guys found me, I think. I mean, I guess you would have come to Floaroma Town eventually anyway, but...I never would have known what was going on if you hadn't.
eudaimonikos: (how good people make tough choices)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-04 04:36 pm (UTC)(link)
It's lucky we didn't have the Drifblim from the start. Could've just flown right over people like you. We didn't have a reason to go to Floraroma to begin with, it was just on the way.

[He thinks about it for a second, then chuckles.]

It would have been lonely. But you would've probably been safer.
gekkaju: (12)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-05 10:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Which does he value more, in that case? Safety...or not being alone?

...it's not a hard question for Atsushi to answer, in the end.]

I'd rather be here with you all. I'm not sure I could have taken being the only person with spirit in town for more than a few more weeks.
eudaimonikos: (the difficulty of tolerance)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-06 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. Seems like a good way to lose your mind. I'dve gone crazy with nothing to do - probably would've left for a solo road trip after a week. Or set a town on fire, one of those.
gekkaju: (43)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-08 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
[Never change, Michael.]

I think the worst part is that I could like...tell that things were starting to get a little better? But I didn't know why.

And then knowing that Cyrus destroyed all of that later on...I probably would have been caught in the blast if I stayed.
eudaimonikos: (moral exactitude)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-08 03:18 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. He wouldn't have been trying to kill you, but you wouldn't really have been better off...

[Hm. Don't like that.]

Saturn told us once that we were only here a short while before our conditioning wore off. Any of us who got caught up in it again might still have recovered faster than the natives.
gekkaju: (68)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-11 06:58 pm (UTC)(link)
[Huh. That's not something Atsushi knew...it makes him wonder.]

You think it's because we're not from here?
eudaimonikos: (nichomachean ethics)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-11 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It's the most obvious explanation. The one thing we all have in common, that no one else here shares. Not to say I have a reason why that would let us resist his power...maybe just that we don't owe our creation to their gods?
gekkaju: (67)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-16 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
It would make sense. We'd naturally be more resistance to their influence given that we're not even from this world.

You'd think in that case Cyrus would have thought twice before having us brought here in the first place.
eudaimonikos: (fear and trembling)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-17 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Even if that weren't true, it was ridiculous to look at expanding to other worlds so soon. He doesn't even have a handle on this one.
gekkaju: (68)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-19 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
He was too confident in his ability to destroy anything he wanted. I mean, the trainer who tried to stop this wasn't able to succeed...he probably thought he was totally unstoppable until we came along.
eudaimonikos: (as many times)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-19 02:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Except for all the resets to this place? I mean, I guess none of the resistance was very effective...

[Ugh, he can relate and he hates it.]

Heck, maybe he thought we'd be easier prey. Not made by their gods, but most of us don't have any gods backing us up either, right?
gekkaju: (62)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-23 05:38 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah...I mean, from his perspective, we don't have anything going for us. Any of us with powers in our own worlds had them stripped away when we woke up here, and we didn't have the advantage of growing up with Pokemon and knowing how everything worked, either. We shouldn't have been a problem.
eudaimonikos: (consequences)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-23 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe we were going to be like advance scouts...send us back to our worlds, try to have us kidnap a few more people? Lots of us seem to at least know the people who would've been the strongest resistance.
gekkaju: (68)

[personal profile] gekkaju 2018-11-26 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
[Atsushi's eyes widen at that suggestion. It's not something he'd considered until just now.]

You have a point...that's...that's a terrible thought. I'm really glad they never got away with anything like that.
eudaimonikos: (either/or)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-11-27 06:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, it sounds like it would have fallen apart well before it got off the ground. Sending us away would have made it even easier, I bet - away from Cyrus's influence and all that?
