SPACE The base in Eterna City is neither as large nor imposing as the Veilstone building; however, you've likely noticed by now that it's just as odd-looking, if not moreso. Located in the northwestern portion of town, it stands at the epicenter of the spatial disturbances plaguing the city; it doesn't seem unaffected by them - there are parts of it that seem...out of place, the building itself just as patchwork as the rest of the surrounding area - but it still seems structurally sound and the door is still in place and looks like it belongs to the original building. So it'll probably take you where you want to go upon walking through it. Probably. That said, while it's not the best idea to kick down the front doors and hope no one notices, it doesn't seem that you have much of a choice; unlike the Veilstone base, there doesn't seem to be another entrance. So it's either front doors or nothing; hopefully there isn't anything too hostile immediately inside. There don't seem to be any guards stationed outside the building, at least - it seems that they're staying inside just as much as the locals are. Either that or they have other reasons for not being around. On the one hand, Dialga may have given you some idea of what you're likely in for eventually; on the other, Palkia is an entirely different creature, holding dominion over another aspect of the universe entirely. Hopefully you've steeled yourselves, either way; best of luck to you.

[Yes, she absolutely can! Heatran's busy trying to free herself and fight off the other Pokémon, so a tiny one like Clefairy certainly won't be noticed in all the commotion!]

[WELL REY HAS CERTAINLY NOTICED AND IS TRYING NOT TO LOSE HER MIND WITH WORRY WHILE ALSO NOT DRAWING ATTENTION TO CLEFAIRY OH GOD BE CAREFUL-

Clefairy, on the other hand, seems quite calm! Almost excited! What are her chances of zipping around Heatran's legs?

...while avoiding being accidentally stomped, of course]

[Please don't get stomped, no one wants that. You've actually got a pretty good chance of getting around her legs easily - her back two aren't moving much to keep her standing while one of her front two is encased in lava and not going anywhere. So there's really only one leg to worry about, but if you avoid that one, you should be fine to explore as you see fit!]

[In a splendid turn of events, Rey is now having to restrain Gallade from leaping into the fray and rescuing Clefairy, but fortunately it just looks like she's holding him back from attacking, so-

Meanwhile, the danger!leg is noted and avoided! Clefairy spends an (AGONISING FOR HER TRAINER AND TEAM-MATE) moment admiring some nice rocks, before she looks up at Heatran, clearly lost in thought.

She'd like to try jumping onto her back, where the other shinies are - is that possible?]

[It might take some doing - but you can probably climb up one of her non-dangerous legs to get up there! It'll be a little warm, but it will not burn your tiny fairy hands, don't worry!]

[REY IS ACTUALLY GOING TO DIE FROM THE AMOUNT OF STRESS THIS IS CAUSING, CLEFAIRY IS HER EGG BABY!!! IS THIS WHAT BEING A MOTHER IS LIKE???]

What do we do?! What should I tell her to do?! She's too small to attack!

[WELL, after the most cheerful leg-climbing ever, Clefairy has made it onto Heatran's back! It certainly is warm, but it's almost nice! A little difficult to hold on to, but she's happy to flit around~

...now, for the shinies. What are her chances of being able to pull one out?]

[From up here you've got a great view of the chain! It looks like it was probably attached all around Heatran at one point, but this piece has gotten stuck beneath that metal plate on her head. There are four links and one broken one at the end sticking up from underneath the plate. They're stuck in there pretty tightly, but you can grab onto them without any problems, so maybe with some work you could free them!]

[Huh! Well, after cheerfully giving her trainer a sassy wave (which doesn't seem to have made her very happy, but whatever!), Clefairy will most definitely wrap her hands around one of those unbroken links and give it a solid tug!]

[azumods]

[That definitely gets it to budge, it's not completely out yet, but you've definitely gotten it to move!

...Unfortunately, Heatran is really not liking this and she roars, spits more fire at no one in particular, and slams her foot into the ground hard enough to shake the whole cavern. She's also trying to shake poor Clefairy off now; she's definitely aware you're there now and she is not happy.]

[greydients]

[WAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH NOT GOOD!! NOT GOOD!! Clefairy is clearly upset by all the sudden noise and shaking and fire and roaring, but it's caused her to clamp down harder on that piece of chain to avoid being flung off!

...assuming it. it stays in place....will it stay in place?]

[azumods]

[It does! But it probably won't stay in place for long - Heatran rears up on her hind legs to try to get you off, which also finally frees her foot from the lava.

So on the plus side, you've nearly got the chain out and if you can keep a grip on it for a little while longer it'll probably pop out just due to your weight!

...On the minus side, Heatran is now free and she is supremely pissed off.]

Clefairy!!

[Y'ALL ARE GOING TO HAVE TO HANDLE HEATRAN, GALLADE IS TOO BUSY TRYING TO STOP HIS TRAINER FROM STRAIGHT-UP LEAPING ONTO THE LAVABEAST-

-where Clefairy is screaming and most definitely holding onto that piece of chain for dear life!]

[Good news, Clefairy does manage to hold on long enough for that piece of chain to pop out!

Bad news: it popped out. Which means Clefairy is being sent flying. Until she's, uh. Not.

No, you're not imagining things, the little pink puff sure is just floating there. With her piece of chain still in her hands. Huh.]

[Thankfully, Heatran ends up distracted so she drops back down to all fours to engage in a fiery battle with Natto; are you still hanging on, Clefairy?]

Natto!

[Atsushi calls out to the Skuntank, who turns her attention to Heatran, challenging her with a flamethrower of her own. Hey, down here! Pick on someone your own size!

...Or, well. Closer...to your own size.]

[Heatran is a bit more focused on the thing pulling on that chain right now, but once she frees herself she is totally here to throw down with a Flamethrower war, so have that returned, Natto!!]

[AAAH HOLY SHIT NO-

Mizushi backs up, the flames starting to become too much even for this water type. If there's any chance she steps in lava again he'll immediately subdue her, but it seems that he's done his part for now.

BUT OH MAN Natto has been waiting her whole life for this. She lets the fire churn in her belly before letting out a massive Flamethrower attack at Heatran without Atsushi telling her to first...he doesn't stop her but he just hopes she doesn't get herself hurt battling this thing.]

W-watch out for Clefairy!!

[azumods]

[Look at you go, Natto!! Fire isn't really going to do a ton of damage to Heatran, but she's really not happy with this and she drops back down onto all fours, sending another massive quake through the cavern before she doubles down and spits more fire in Natto's direction.]

Highwind, back them up!

[The Altaria flapped her wings loudly, opening her beak for a Disarming Voice to call attention to herself.]

[azumods]

[She's free now, but Heatran is absolutely not one to ignore an attack like that, so have another Flamethrower shooting in your direction, Highwind.]

Calm down--if what I assume is happening is correct, we might be lucky on that front. If you see her in danger, tell Sonantis to get her.

[i mean he's got a good guess of what the fuck's going on and highwind is Very Busy] He's airborne, I think he can pick her up and get out of range.

I could send out Melady to grab her as well, if needed--she seems to have managed to get on the creatures back, so perhaps she could get them out?

[Will yanking actually work??? Lord only knows. She's already trying to juggle two Pokemon at once.]

[She...really really means it, guys.]

Let's...put our faith in Clefairy for now. Maybe the Pokemon will calm down if she can get some of that chain out.

Alright, just...please, keep it distracted. I don't think it's noticed her and I want to keep it that way.

[Her face is...very white, but to her credit Rey manages to remain calm (even if that wave Clefairy just gave her makes her want to collapse).]

If Clefairy can get those bits of chain out, maybe....!

Highwind's strong--she'll be able to hold out a bit longer. Sonantis, listen to Rey and be ready.

[The Chimecho hovered a little closer to her, jingling reassuringly.]
