⚔ // stress in solitude
[Once Saturn had left, Ignis took a slow breath to steady himself before standing and speaking again.]
I think we have a fair amount of things to discuss, after that. But we'll also need to rest and recover here; We may be able to take it at Saturn's word that he won't alert Cyrus to us, but overstaying our welcome by more than a couple of days is unwise--that means we need to take advantage of this as much as we can.
[Strategy was easier. The words came naturally, and he was able to hold focus.]
If anyone needs me or wishes to assist, I'll be in the kitchen. I'm aware we just ate, but I presume we'll all be more comfortable if one of our own makes breakfast in the morning.

Kayneth knows he’ll be totally useless in the kitchen, and after that, he just... kinda wants to go outside for a while. He thought he’d had enough fresh air for two whole decades, but... well, it’s different if you know that you can head right back indoors to a bath and a soft bed if you want to. He’s not far from the restaurant, anyway. He’s brought one of the chairs outside and has basically resigned himself to hand-feeding his Pokémon, as he doesn’t particularly feel comfortable with doing that indoors yet. Like, someday, maybe. Maybe in his room. But not quite a restaurant.
Once they’re finished, he begins contemplating something. It’s something he’s wanted to try for the past few days, but... well. All that business with Saturn’s Pokemon brought it back to mind, so you know what? Why not. He sets a piece of paper on the ground, takes out some ink... and looks at his Frillish a bit skeptically.]
Do your tentacles count as feet, even? Would this even work with you?
[...The Frillish just kind of shrugs blankly.]
Hm. And I was curious if I could figure it out, since you seem to have more life to you right now...

[ what are you doing there with the Frillish and the paper? Still, she wanders over, having been in the middle of some other sort of note taking here, looking fairly quizzical. ]

[...damn thinking of it her Pokemon doesn’t have feet either does it...]
I met a man in the cabin on the beach who said that he used to be able to read Pokémon’s feelings by looking at their footprints. Since some of our Pokémon have been expressing themselves a bit more, I’ve been wondering if there’s any merit to it... well, that I could detect, anyway.
no subject
... You could attempt it with my Lickitung?
[ It has.. feet... unlike Miphanus behind her here. ]

[He opens the bottle of ink, then!]
I've been interested in trying it with the ones we started out with since those have been the ones showing anything resembling emotion so far, but it might be worth comparing footprints across time in case the ones we caught later start waking up a bit.

[Well that seems like an easy deduction, given the ink and the paper on the floor. What Kiryu can't guess is why Kayneth would want this]

[...he knows this looks weird but like]
I met a man who apparently used to be able to determine Pokemon's feelings buy looking at their footprints, which intrigued me a bit. I wanted to see if it was at all possible for me to pick up.
no subject
[Well that sounds rather unbelievable. If it wasn't because nobody's capable of being a swindler in this world given its current state, he'd warn Kayneth about that. Then this must be the real deal
How the heck's a footprint supposed to tell feelings?]
I guess it's worth a try. It could be something about the pressure of the foot or...something like that.

You could try telling him to paint something. That's bound to be more effective if it's about understanding emotions -- at least in a way everyone besides that man can understand.
no subject
[...hmmm.]
Do you want to give it a shot with your first Pokemon? His fur's black anyway, so we can see how it turns out.

[Daigo seems to generally understand the situation, or at least he's staring at the pieces of paper. A confirmation? Well...sure, good enough]
He'll do it, I guess.
no subject
[He hands the bottle to Daigo, then.]
Just... paint whatever comes to mind, I suppose.

Aren't you meant to do that with cement?

[He contemplates it...]
A man told me that before all this went down, there used to be a way to determine Pokemon's feelings from footprints. I can't really tell if it was something that I could replicate or if it's some sort of learned divination skill, but I've been curious about the whole thing since I heard about it.

You'll need to gather a lot of data. Multiple samples over an extended period of time would be best, to compare for differences.

[HE GESTURES KIND OF VAGUELY TOWARDS HIS FRILLISH'S TENTACLES, WHICH ARE NOT FEET]
no subject
Maybe you be a little unorthodox. If he stands on the paper, you could trace the outline of his appendages with a pencil.

...
But would you be willing to donate your starter's footprint to the cause? For footprint divination science, of course.
