Week 3.

WEEK 3 The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about. You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day... Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days. Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business. Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end. [Well, Camilla's out and about looking for more foes...to...face down...

...Okay, not even she's expecting the great slug migration that's going on right now, to say the least. The slugs are definitely going to be getting in the way a little bit, but Camilla's going to walk over to Zelda as carefully as she can--]

Taking some observations, dear? These certainly don't look like the sort of creatures that should be straying too far from the water, do they?

Oh, it might also be emphasized that it is a bargain! The canned one in the machines back in Veilstone cost six times this amount.

[ See, logic? Still, Zelda comes closer with a smile, Miphanus floating behind her, but supportive of Aya's effort here. ]

[ Quite possibly so! Though if anything Ventus approves of her doing so for obvious reasons...one of them being it's harmless. ]

So, you're not the type of guy to eat like that at all? Not even a little?

[ Ventus grins a little because yes, that is him teasing a bit just because he can. ]

... I do not know what either of those are, truth told. I'm still trying to understand the power source for the lights.

[ Excited, and knowing Camilla will basically roll with her enthusiasm, Zelda nods, but then taking the Sheikah slate from her belt, makes to get a picture or three of the herd of Shellos moving around here. They look as blank faced as any pokemon, so it must be some sort of instinct...? ]

I am, yes! And I would normally agree, but as you can see, some of them are actually progressing back to the water as opposed to out. I believe that they must make their homes both in the city and the water, somehow.

Nope, not as far as I know.

[Kayneth holds up the tag and points at the tub of water with four dots.]

I swear, they make you read hieroglyphics to wash your clothes correctly. I don't understand if it's meant to say how many clothes you should put in with it or what.

Really? Thanks.

[ Ventus glows in the praise for a bit. It looks like he hasn't grown completely unable to give people a hard time, so that's good. ]

...That sounds pretty cool. Are you and your friend knights too?

[Sena's voice blubbers from the water as Vee continues to slowly pull him out.]

[He gasps for air and pushes his head out of the water. Turns out trying to answer questions underwater isn't a good idea.]

[Looks like Vee's mostly got it under control, if Sena's head finally popping out of the water means anything.]

[ Ventus is walking in the city, doing some sight-seeing when...he sees all of this.

Well then. ]

...That's a good idea. Maybe I can send a few people your way too by saying how good the lemonade is?

On the contrary. You would be surprised how many beef bowls I can have in a row.

[Kiryu says that with a slight smirk. He sees Ventus is teasing, and he's playing along, yep]

It was more like his interest in looking good at all times -- only when it's about his appearance, because his behavior right now wasn't elegant at all.

Let me guess, you can go through ... ten of them?

[ Kiryu is such a good for playing along. He begins to lightly pat Togepi a little as Klefki has seemed to settle down to just observing. ]

Well, if changes are happening now at least it means that we'll probably see more with the others pretty soon too.

Not a lot of guidebooks for anything outside their region. I guess that's not surprising, for people who think just one library for the entire region is perfectly fine.

[He's just never gonna be over Canalave being the only city with books in it]

But at least the majority who do evolve seem to just do it naturally as they grow. A few need ridiculously specific conditions, like being near that mountain range to the west. Something about magnetic fields.

I hope so. Even though Daigo's getting better, the others don't show any signs of improvement yet.

[He's not surprised the Magikarp is as blank as before, but Heracross...by now he should be showing some sort of trait, like Daigo used to after a week, but there's nothing yet]

[ So the technology is beyond them, maybe? Either way, she looks at once interested and disappointed... but ultimately, all that was beside what she considered talking to Bucky about. She shifts her gaze, evening up looking more at the reflection in the pool.

A pause. Mmm. ]

But there are visitors... even that's such a fantastic prospect, to see people descending from the heavens.

Oh, the electricity! Usually, that comes from power plants that process things like coal or the energy from waterfalls. They turn it into energy like lightning!

Coal? [ . . . ] How does one transform the energy of water into lightning! I would be fascinated to know! I had assumed that they had made a tremendous furnace...

It's sort of like that! Y'see, you know how if we're standing, we have potential energy because we could get up and run, but when we are running, what we're expending is kinetic energy? Basically like that, only static electricity, like what sits around in clouds before they make lightning, and current electricity. And the wiring in houses and stuff basically carries electricity from the power plant on its own current.

[ventulus]

Maybe they just need a little more time.

[ Ventus is sure of that at least. It's probably why Togepi isn't exactly acting like she's excited to be in a new environment and looking pretty blank-slated on her end. ]

Before you know it, you could wake up to one of them sitting on your face in order to wake you up in the morning.

[ If he doesn't keep them in their Pokeballs, anyway. ]

I've never met any aliens myself, but everything Steve tells me about Thor leads me to believe I'd like the guy.

[Pastoria! How fun!

Michael's made himself quite at home in the Pokemon Center, along with his Pokemon. The recently evolved Cat Janet takes up a lot more space now, enough that he's requisitioned an extra mattress for her. The green ribbon she used to wear around her neck is now tied in a neat little bow around one of her front paws like a bracelet, though the pin is gone. It's gotten a little dirty.

Cat Janet in general is getting dirtier lately. She likes to run off ahead now? Even by the shore, in all that awful sand. Michael's taken to sitting and brushing her in the morning after he's gotten himself ready, getting all the grit out of her pretty fur.]

We need to get you a new collar. It was a good look.

[Once he's ready for the day, he spends the start of it just poking around the town, exploring a little. If he sees anybody else out, though, he'll approach them.]

Hey - you mind helping me with a little experiment?

[Later in the afternoon...well. That conversation with Liam didn't exactly make him feel fantastic about things, but it had proved helpful in the end, hadn't it? So there's that. And there's also the fact that the Gym here is just as dead and empty as the one in Veilstone. Is this a thing?

Michael wants to know. So he's walking into people's houses again, just knocking loudly on the doors before opening them right up as long as they aren't locked. This time he's only got one question:]

Hi, are you familiar with Crasher Wake? Or...a sort of smarmy-looking kid with blue devil hair?

[He mimes devil horns. Okay, that's two questions.]

[ Zelda processes out the information. Okay, that actually makes sense from a framework - everything has potential energy, and movement expends kinetic, which presumably is some conversion of the potential? She resists the urge to get out her notebook and take notes but okay...

So... ]

Wiring...

Then those wires the magnetmites fed on! The reason there was lightning in there is because they carry the lightning to the houses. But then - can kinetic energy be converting into lightning...? Or static, I suppose?
