Week 5.

WEEK 5 As of morning the next day, it seems the rain has stopped; with Azelf awakened and your newly-hatched companions by your side, it's possible that you're feeling a new sense of resolve regarding what needs to be done - and, perhaps more importantly, your ability to accomplish it. The device Maylene gave you certainly does seem to work; activating it will reveal a dark portal crackling with energy, shades of pink and purple swirling brightly around the outer edges, and those of you that walk through it will find yourselves quite suddenly standing somewhere else - there's grass beneath your feet and an unfamiliar city to the west, and the place you're standing seems raised up in some way; turning around once the portal has closed behind the last of you will reveal a massive bronze statue depicting a Pokémon of some sort, though what it is seems to be a little difficult to tell... The trip to Eterna City may leave you feeling a little dizzy and disoriented, and for a few uncomfortable moments you're likely very, very aware of your organs, but the effects will pass after a few moments and you'll soon feel right as rain. Of course, it'll likely become obvious very quickly that you aren't alone near that statue... Either way, it's a long journey up to Snowpoint City; you might want to take some time to make sure that you're prepared before you set off. It really does seem as though finding Azelf at Lake Valor has done the world some good, though, along with your combined effects on the world already; hopefully the Guardian at Lake Acuity in the north will be just as helpful... Oh, I named him 'cause he eats a ton and so did my work partner Angelica, and angelica and sunflower are both sunflowers, y'know? His species is a Munchlax. Apparently, they grow to be really huge.

They respond to nicknames?

So...how many of these things are there? Seems like everyone here has something different.

Hundreds if not more. A lot of the ones we woke up with aren't native to this country, same with the ones we just hatched from some eggs, but there are said to be 210 native to this region itself! Said to be. Some of 'em are more unique than others.

[She rattles it off without checking, apparently having memorized it.]

I'm Chelsea Moore! I'm from Sandvil, but no one's ever heard of it here. It's kind of a backwater planet anyway, but the issue's more the "everyone's from other dimensions" thing.

Yeah, there's no way I'm meeting all 210 of them.

[ that is a lot. do we really have to interact with all of them... ]

Never heard of it either, but the whole different dimensions thing doesn't weird me out as much as Team Galactic does.

Ehe, that's the number of species, not how many we have. Most of us only have, like, three or four right now. And I don't think we have to meet one of everything, that'd just be really arbitrary and complicated, wouldn't it?

...Oh.

[ ...well then ] So you're saying that these...Pokemon...are kind of like pets?

[niceoppai]

Sort of pets, sort of partners. They worked with humans here to do just about anything. But a really big thing here was battling for fun. Sounds weird, I know.

[redbellion]

They...don't mind getting all roughed up?

[niceoppai]

Not if you make sure to heal 'em after. They might hold a grudge if you don't, but there are places in just about every town that do it for free.

[redbellion]

You mean--they don't die?

[ keith. ]

[niceoppai]

Course not! It's a sport, not a fight-for-your-life thing. I had way enough of that at home.

[redbellion]

Oh.



Okay.

[ HONESTLY...so has he. ] Sorry. I'm just--I'm pretty surprised.

Same with all of us. It seems like it was a pretty nice place here before. Of course, some people had bad lives -- any world would have things like that.
