Week 5.

WEEK 5 As of morning the next day, it seems the rain has stopped; with Azelf awakened and your newly-hatched companions by your side, it's possible that you're feeling a new sense of resolve regarding what needs to be done - and, perhaps more importantly, your ability to accomplish it. The device Maylene gave you certainly does seem to work; activating it will reveal a dark portal crackling with energy, shades of pink and purple swirling brightly around the outer edges, and those of you that walk through it will find yourselves quite suddenly standing somewhere else - there's grass beneath your feet and an unfamiliar city to the west, and the place you're standing seems raised up in some way; turning around once the portal has closed behind the last of you will reveal a massive bronze statue depicting a Pokémon of some sort, though what it is seems to be a little difficult to tell... The trip to Eterna City may leave you feeling a little dizzy and disoriented, and for a few uncomfortable moments you're likely very, very aware of your organs, but the effects will pass after a few moments and you'll soon feel right as rain. Of course, it'll likely become obvious very quickly that you aren't alone near that statue... Either way, it's a long journey up to Snowpoint City; you might want to take some time to make sure that you're prepared before you set off. It really does seem as though finding Azelf at Lake Valor has done the world some good, though, along with your combined effects on the world already; hopefully the Guardian at Lake Acuity in the north will be just as helpful... No, that would lead me to believe it is a properly inherit to the species... or at least to him?

[ That said, she's going to head over to Miphanus to pet the steel thing gently, it's okay, you did your best there. And it seems pleased to help with the experiment... Hmmm ]

... We could try Saber?

[Rey nods in agreement, both to Zelda's hypothesis, and her suggestion of a new Pokemon.]

I think that would be good. I know that Golett didn't do this when we fought Ignis' Absol - she hurt it quite badly, actually - so that's something to keep in mind.

Oh, not at all! To answer these questions actually is very stimulating for me! I've already two theories... either it has to do with Golett's typing, or it must be come ability that functions outside of just their attacks. Regardless, we shall work this out!

[ And then, out comes Saber from the ball! The big pink thing arrives with a little fanfare, namely that it's tongue reaches arounds as if it were sniffing... well, tasting the air for food. ]

[Well, that will earn you a small, determined smile, Zelda.]

That makes sense to me. I won't say anything to Golett again - you just attack whenever Saber is ready.

[Because Golett clearly is - that faint aura of amusement hasn't faded, and it places its arms by its sides, waiting patiently for Saber to attack.]

Very well! ... Saber, please- [ You know, she should test for one of her theories, and so - ] use your wrapping attack!

[ One Wrap, coming up! Intending to bind Golett around with her tongue! ... Which fails. It also phased through the thing, the tongue ending up coiling on nothing and, disappointed at the lack of food, she pulls back the tongue. ]

[greydients]

[Well, looks like you're going hungry tonight, Saber. Rey empathizes.]

...again. It happened again! This is getting ridiculous!

[That's the third - fourth, if you count both of Riolu's attempts - time they've tried, and nothing is working, but nothing is becoming clearer, either. To be blunt, Rey is starting to get a bit frustrated.]

This would be so much easier if we could just ask Golett why this is happpening, but-

[Rey is instantly rendered speechless at the sight of Golett, who has walked up right in front of her...

...and placed its hand inside her stomach.

[ So a Tackle (well Take Down), a Wrap, a Quick Attack... Extreme Speed? Either way, that attack is probably... Normal or Fighting, given the users, right? And ... heeeh. A smirk comes onto Zelda's features while Rey is getting a bit frustrated, and an idea strikes her- buti t's interrupted by the Golett putting a hand into Rey's stomach and- oh. ]

... Oh, wow...

[greydients]

[After a moment, Golett steps back and out of Rey's torso, returning to the default spiritless pose that all of their Pokemon take at some point in time. Its trainer, however, hasn't quite recovered from that little display.]

...do you think it was trying to tell us something?

That would appear to be quite likely. [ She says, but she's still... wow. That sure was a thing. - but she should go back to her theory...! Actually... ]

Might I try one more attack with Saber? I do have a theory now, I believe it shall confirm.

[greydients]

[Well damn, Rey isn't going to stop you if you have a theory, because as cool as that little display was, Golett, it still didn't tell them anything.]

Please, go ahead. Golett, I take it you can handle another attack?

[And much to Rey's amusement, Golett actually gives her a small thumbs-up. Turning to Zelda, she imitates her Pokemon.]

Let's do it.

[ Okay so her reasoning is quickly come to the hypothesis: What if ghost type? Ghosts are immune to normal attacks and most all of Saber's moves are, well, that. But Miphanus also must use it. The normal tackle must count as, well, Normal. But she knows based on trial and error with other ghosts and other Pokemon in general that some property of a normal Lick attack isn't Normal!

And so... ]

Saber, could you just Lick Golett?

[ And she will! Lick Golett! It's just a normal paralyzing Lick... but it is Ghost type, so that'll be super effective ]

[greydients]

[Well, this should be interesting - Rey watches Saber approach Golett, waiting for that tongue to just go straight through-]

...oh!

[It does not go straight through, instead sending Golett stumbling back a few shaky steps. Quickly jogging over to Golett to make sure its alright, Rey turns back to Zelda in disbelief.]

It actually worked!

I thought so! [ She beams! And pats Saber on the shoulder to urge the Lickitung to back off a little more, which it will! ... Though it does look hungry. When we gonna food? That said, she looks back to Rey and, ]

Before now, I've had reason to believe that a focused lick from Saber here is in fact not a Normal-aligned move, based on my interaction with wild Pokémon. That the wrapping and tackles didn't work, but the Lick did... I think it can be reasonable to conclude that Golett is at least in part a ghost type.
