Week 5.

WEEK 5 As of morning the next day, it seems the rain has stopped; with Azelf awakened and your newly-hatched companions by your side, it's possible that you're feeling a new sense of resolve regarding what needs to be done - and, perhaps more importantly, your ability to accomplish it. The device Maylene gave you certainly does seem to work; activating it will reveal a dark portal crackling with energy, shades of pink and purple swirling brightly around the outer edges, and those of you that walk through it will find yourselves quite suddenly standing somewhere else - there's grass beneath your feet and an unfamiliar city to the west, and the place you're standing seems raised up in some way; turning around once the portal has closed behind the last of you will reveal a massive bronze statue depicting a Pokémon of some sort, though what it is seems to be a little difficult to tell... The trip to Eterna City may leave you feeling a little dizzy and disoriented, and for a few uncomfortable moments you're likely very, very aware of your organs, but the effects will pass after a few moments and you'll soon feel right as rain. Of course, it'll likely become obvious very quickly that you aren't alone near that statue... Either way, it's a long journey up to Snowpoint City; you might want to take some time to make sure that you're prepared before you set off. It really does seem as though finding Azelf at Lake Valor has done the world some good, though, along with your combined effects on the world already; hopefully the Guardian at Lake Acuity in the north will be just as helpful... [ he's definitely getting caught up in it, and keith's getting a huge pile of leaves in his face. he's also blocking it with his arms in an 'x'.

while he's getting his face pelted with leaves, blue is hiding behind his leg. that's when he gets an idea. ]

Blue! Help her out, attack that thing!

[ blue mews and makes her way over the fence, scampering up to the sentient lawnmower and ramming into it. ]

[Come on, man, she said she had this!! Rin bites her tongue against a comment though, focusing on trying to get control of this crazy lawnmower. At about the same moment Blue rams into it, she breaks through the leaves to grab at its handle.

In response, the Rotom uses Thunder Wave, zapping them both with a very weak jolt of electricity. It's enough to sting and make Rin jerk her hand back as if burned, but she's also not a pokemon that would be more prone to that move's paralyzing effect.

How is Blue holding up? She looks like an Electric type, too, but that doesn't mean she's immune. If it looks like that move had an effect on her, Rin will help her out instead of pressing the fight.]

[ sorry rin, keith just wants it to be over okok. the leaves have stopped blowing in his face, at least, so keith is trying to climb over the fence.

when rotom uses thunder wave, blue is clearly affected by paralysis, lying on the ground and struggling to get up. keith hops over the fence and runs to her aid, crouching down and digging through his bag for anything that might help. ]

Go for the Pokemon! I'll take care of Blue!

[She was already going for Blue, but jerks to a halt and hesitates when she sees Keith rush in. It's only when he's close does she nod, and chase after the lawnmower.]

There's medicine that cures paralysis in my bag, if you don't have any! You can get it; just make sure Rubin doesn't get wrapped up in this!

[Rubin? That's probably the baby Sableye that's sitting on the back porch, watching this fight going on with its huge, gemstone-like eyes. He's kind of just blankly sitting there by her bag, not getting involved, but also not trying to get out of the way. So that could be an issue.

Rin really wants to get him out of the way, but trying to help him might just get him caught up in the Rotom's crossfire. Part of her thinks this pokemon might actually be going easy on her, mindful that she's a human. These attacks seem awfully weak. Rubin was literally just born three days ago, though. He's not strong enough for this kind of battle yet. She'll just have to hope Keith can help somehow. For her part, she needs to stop this hunk of junk right now!]

That's been Grass and Electric moves so far! [Running, she tries to make another grab for the lawnmower's handle but it swerves, trying to trip her up. Rin dives at the last second, turning her fall into a somersault to get back on her feet.] I have just the thing for you.

[When the Rotom spins again, trying to get her with a weak electric attack, she jumps out of its reach while pulling one of two pokeballs from her belt.]

Abbey! You handle this!

[And with a flash of light appears... a Gligar! Those electric attacks ain't gonna do jack to her.]

Yeah, got it!

[ keith's studied what some of the various pokemon items look like, and he pulls out a paralysis heal. she mentions someone named rubin, though, and keith figures it's the strange-looking one with the gemstones for eyes. keith guards the sableye as he sprays blue with the paralysis heal.

he turns back and looks at rin--he wants to help, but she's got a stronger team than he does, obviously, and it looks like she's got this covered. he has no idea what her pokemon are, their types, but he'll just have to trust her. ]

[There's a reason trainers in this world kind of hang back out of the way of the fighting, though Rin hasn't quite caught onto that yet even after a month here. She keeps trying to intercept, like she's wary about leaving the fight just to her pokemon.

In the end, it's definitely Abbey who does all the work. Rin's most significant contribution is her throwing arm, when she refuses to let the Rotom escape after it breaks through the fence and bodily chucks a plan of wood into its path just to trip it up. In the end, her fingers are all tingly and she's covered in exhaust smoke, but the lawnmower devil has been caught!

After Rin's finished talking to Kazuma, she trails back to the yard, both to check on Keith and Rubin, but also for a potion. Abbey is flying in a lot lower than before; she carried the fight well and all by herself, but she still took a lot of hits.]

Good, you're still here. [Rin winces as she looks at the mess the yard has become, passing through the broken fence to get back over to him.] Is your Shinx feeling better?

[ it's fine, rin. (it's not fine.) keith would be the same way if his shinx and this gemstone-eyed pokemon weren't in danger, but unfortunately that's just how it is, and he's keeping them safe. he looks back to see what the hell's going on back there, and...oh.

that's how you catch a pokemon. okay. it's nice to have a demonstration, he thinks, but... abbey doesn't look too hot. at least the lawnmower's finally stopped making a ruckus. ]

Yeah, looks like it. She's moving like normal again.

[ blue doesn't even seem fazed by any of this; she just yawns and hops onto keith's shoulder again. ]

Do you need anything? And, uh, Rubin's fine.
