Test 5.
VERITY The journey this month has been easier on you in several ways; despite your losses, your numbers have been bolstered by the addition of two more this month, and unlike the unforgiving terrain on the way to Lake Acuity the routes to Lake Verity seem downright hospitable - they're straightforward, the climate is far more temperate, and there are patches of cheer visible here and there along the paths in the form of those brightly-colored flowers, even as you make your way toward the lakefront. But the lakefront itself is perhaps unsettlingly silent; a reminder, perhaps, of what you're here to do, of the importance of your task. You'll reach the lake sometime in the evening. The sun isn't down yet, but it looks as though it won't be too long before it dips below the horizon; there's more than enough light for you to see what the lake itself looks like, however - the water is still and clear, to an extent where you can see straight down to the bottom regardless of how deep it gets. There's no bridge or other way to cross over the lake that you can see, but once again there's a large rock formation rising out of the center of the lake and a good-sized opening in the stone, leading to what's likely a system of caverns further inside. Your exploration starts here, next to the crystal clear waters of Lake Verity; what happens next is up to you. |

...I am grateful for her initial aid, but many of our number mistrust her. Regardless, please understand that our ideals now are our own. She was a guide, but she is not our leader. We wish to help this world for its sake as well as our own. It sounds as though she has wronged you—this whole region. That is not a legacy we've any wish to follow.

Prove it to me?

This is my friend and companion, Duma. He has been with me from the very beginning, and I treasure him so. Together, we have met and aided the gods of the lakes and one of the flowers, and he has been unshakable against it all. I have such pride in him—and in my newer companions, Latona and Audhulma [gesturing lightly to them behind her] as well.
What can we do to prove our intentions to you?

Lucas will pause for a moment, shooting kind of a wary glance at the group, before kneeling down a bit to get more on Duma's level. Do you. Do you care if he pats you, because. He kinda wants to.]
The flowers... Shaymin? It's a little green and white one with pink flowers on it.

[Hi, Camilla...hasn't really been speaking up much, honestly, just kind of sticking back and being very lowkey annoyed about Cynthia's everything, but that seems to catch her interest.]
It was a very kindly creature, though it was certainly lonely after all of this time.

Ohhhhhhhh.]
No, it truly isn't. The land it was near had so many patches of dead flowers around it...to say nothing of Shaymin's own state.
I suppose it is good fortune that we were able to meet the creature after all, if only to ensure it got better. [goddammit Emmeryn, call her out even more why don't you] Well, it's clear that the creature's stretch is quite far, considering how many flowers we've seen pop up along the way as well; it's a nice reminder of them.
[...she may now be lowkey sad she didn't ask Shaymin to come with her, honestly.]

Ah, that's it precisely! We found the poor dear lonely in the woods. I have never seen a creature so happy as that one was when we came to take care of and dote upon it, though. It cuddled our friend Camilla so fiercely I thought she may well just take it home with her.
[She laughs as she says it, light and fond.]
There were the loveliest flowers blooming the whole way here from Floaroma, the same as they did when Shaymin had cheered up again. I like to think the darling was thinking of us.

[Okay, she can't lie, she actually did chuckle a bit at that, but don't @ her]

[goddammit she can't work under these conditions]
...I suppose can't deny that I grew to adore a creature who was truly receptive to such things, but really, now...

I thought I'd stop being girlish eleven years ago, gods.

[to think that emmeryn is at the point in her (after)life where she teases people. she's so cheerful about it though]

[you are a blessing, emmeryn]

[y'all are never gonna stop @ing her about this and...yeah no, she wants to see the baby again too goddammit]

[He mumbles, not very subtle at all. Looks like it's his way of teasing]

[it's not said all that seriously and goddammit she has a reputation as a lady to maintain!!!!]

there may even be pettings.]
...It's gratitude, the thing that Shaymin does. Not flowers. So I'll bet it's been pretty bad-off since everyone's spirit was taken away.
It probably liked you guys a lot.

Gratitude... How heartening. We were just as fond of the sweet darling, I assure you. Even parts of the meadow had lost their spirit and begun to wilt, but we watched it spring to life with the flowers at our feet and the dying ones on Shaymin's back when we fed and held it. I understand Shaymin a little better now, knowing it deals in gratitude, because I was so grateful to see such a beautiful thing.
