Test 5.
VERITY The journey this month has been easier on you in several ways; despite your losses, your numbers have been bolstered by the addition of two more this month, and unlike the unforgiving terrain on the way to Lake Acuity the routes to Lake Verity seem downright hospitable - they're straightforward, the climate is far more temperate, and there are patches of cheer visible here and there along the paths in the form of those brightly-colored flowers, even as you make your way toward the lakefront. But the lakefront itself is perhaps unsettlingly silent; a reminder, perhaps, of what you're here to do, of the importance of your task. You'll reach the lake sometime in the evening. The sun isn't down yet, but it looks as though it won't be too long before it dips below the horizon; there's more than enough light for you to see what the lake itself looks like, however - the water is still and clear, to an extent where you can see straight down to the bottom regardless of how deep it gets. There's no bridge or other way to cross over the lake that you can see, but once again there's a large rock formation rising out of the center of the lake and a good-sized opening in the stone, leading to what's likely a system of caverns further inside. Your exploration starts here, next to the crystal clear waters of Lake Verity; what happens next is up to you. |

...I think it's going to be at least a little easier to cross this time? Do we have enough water Pokemon to take us across?

After studying the waters for a moment, Eustace turns to the group.]
Before anyone jumps in to swim across [he's not putting it past some people] we should get a count of who has Pokemon large enough to potentially ferry us across.

Even if they were the right type for it, mine definitely won’t be able to carry anyone...sorry.
[Ironic since one of them actually IS the right type. He just...doesn’t know that yet...]

[While Ignis considered options and thought out loud, at his feet Highwind pecked at the water curiously. Hm. Yep. That’s another bird reflected there.]
[How did that other bird get there. Who is he.]
[Only one way to find out, and with a rather resounding undignified SPLASH the little puffball dove headlong into the water. Unfortunately, ‘smart’ was not Highwind’s nature. However, before her trainer could figure out what in Leviathan’s name just happened—there was a sudden flash and a chocobo-sized bird climbed out of the lake dragging soaked cotton wings and making a noise that was unmistakable as a confused whine.]
...Something ridiculous just happened, didn’t it.

It's dark like the others were, certainly, and perhaps a bit less so given that there's less sunlight streaming in from the outside; what daylight remains is giving off a warm, pink cast from the sunset, however, reflecting in off the lake, and oddly everything here seems...warm. Calming, almost, like you're being wrapped in a particularly comforting blanket.
Your Pokémon don't like it.
Rather than taking comfort in whatever presence they're experiencing, it seems to take almost an opposite effect as it strikes any Pokémon that are out with you; some of them may lie down or move toward the walls, some of them may simply stop moving at all, others may have a different but equally suddenly subdued reaction as they seem to be taken over with a strange sort of despondency - a lack of hope, a burst of overwhelming sadness or despair that they seem to be having difficulty shaking off.
However, there doesn't seem to be anything in the cave entrance that's causing it; that much is empty. The walls reach out far in a circular shape, culminating in a domed ceiling above. and if you look closely enough the walls are glittering with the barely-exposed faces of crystals and the start of salt formations, all of it embedded in the walls too far to remove but still present around you in the dim light of the setting sun and whatever fires you guys may have with you to light your way.]

TEST.
Lucas is still...sort of having difficulty focusing on all this, but at least he does seem to be taking all of it in; he'll stand up eventually from where he's been sort of awkwardly playing with Duma and face the group properly again.]
I don't think you're bad people. And I don't think you'll hurt the Guardian! You're all...really nice, it's like people used to be here. So if you say you'll help, then you'll help.
But I think you've all been dragged into this without knowing what you're getting into, and that isn't... It isn't right. I want to see how far you've come - if we do this, a lot of thngs are going to change. And I want to know you're ready, I want to know it'll be okay.
[He shifts his grip on that Pokéball again.]
I want you to prove it to me. Before we go any further.
[Your goal is to gain passage to the entrance to the next chamber.]

I think... I still don't know if you guys are ready for all of this, but you've kind of shown me a lot, too. You're willing to learn stuff, and to try to fix a world that isn't even yours no matter what anyone tells you, and you really seem to love Pokémon, so...
I don't know what's best, but I know I want to be on your side. So I think I'll trust Mesprit to know what's best for it - if you can get past its barrier and treat it, or at least calm it down a little so I can help you... Then I'll definitely owe you one.
We can battle once the Guardian is taken care of, if a few of you still want to do that. I'd like to see what you can do. But for the moment, I think I've seen a lot and the Guardian still needs to take priority.
If you're okay with helping me with it, then I'll show you where the barrier is.
