Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. I don't know why she would, but she was very adamant about just wanting us to go. Which, I do also want to get home as soon as possible...

[He glances away for a second, drumming his fingers rapidly against his leg.]

But helping them is definitely the right thing to do.

[He nods like he's heard of the area, which honestly he probably has.]

That all existed where I come from, too. Well, on Earth there. I wonder how many of us come from similar worlds...obviously not Zelda.

A name is an important thing. There's no obligation to rush the decision.

[Her Bagon doesn't respond when she leans over briefly to pat his head, but she doesn't smile any less fondly.]

I've drawn inspiration from an old legend for mine. A few people I've spoken to have named theirs after old friends from home.

There may be! I've never seen it, but there is documentation that there may be another divine beast, one which can be powered by almost anything.

[ Which his cool. ]

Well, I'd like my partner to look dignified... but hmm. I suppose if there was something I just wanted to have as a pet, I might consider it for that one...

They must still be in there. Somehow. We were in much the same state until recently.

[It's not a pleasant thought, but it's unfortunately the most likely explanation for all of their lapses in memory. And those stupid outfits.]

That's interesting. One of my best friends is an artificial being, of sorts, but she actually can't eat.

[Purrloin has either finished her meal or simply lost interest in it; she sits back and curls her tail loosely around her body, staring blankly in Michael's general direction.]

Is that it?

Oh- What sort of artificial being, if I might ask?

[ Also sorry cat. That said, Zelda is going to be taking the Beldum closer to her as she takes up a seat on the floor here with Michael. ]

She's a repository of all knowledge in the universe, built to assist in maintaining a comfortable environment for humans in the afterlife.

[He glances between Beldum and Purrloin for a moment as Zelda joins them, but the cat is predictably uninterested in the other Pokemon.]

Her name's Janet. They're all called Janet.

[Ari pauses at that, before he frowns.]

To be honest... I don't like the idea of having it pick a fight with the wild ones. It seems cruel, doing that while they're minding their own business.

Huh, maybe. And if it's divine intervention that brought us here, they might've made things a little easier for us in terms of communication. I think Cynthia said one of the deities we're after is in charge of knowledge, so that might fit...

[hyruglyphics]

[ She goes slack-jawed at that. what is... this man talking about? She can't - she doesn't entirely understand other than the idea that all the knowledge in the universe is a phenomenal thing and.. ]

That's... awe-inspiring.

[ That feels like too little. ]

[That's a good idea to keep in mind. Kiryu pokes a few bags, reads a few more, and has a thought crossing his mind]

Wait. This is a bear. Don't bears, you know, hunt?

[Do...do Pokemon hunt? Maybe he should have asked Cynthia how these things work, oh god]

Well, if you can believe anything about mythology, it's that actual gods tend to be a bit obnoxious themselves. There are a few that keep to themselves and don't cause trouble for anyone, but they're exception and not the rule.

So honestly? They fit right in.

[ Oh? Praying? Guess this guy's serious about a lot of things. ]

You mean join you out here? That's a kind offer, and it is better to stick together during a crisis, but... [ His eyebrows raise up in regret. He still wants to look around a lot more, he's most likely to find his deck here or at another one of these HQ. Although... After a moment's pause, he shakes his head and smiles again. This time, it's more sheepish than happy.

This is probably a short-term offer, not a long-term one. So it's okay for a little while. ] Sorry, nevermind. I don't mind joining you if it's only for a little while.

[ He tilts his head, thoughtful. ]

Indeed even the names of great heroes have changed throughout history, as their stories were told time and time again. And then there are those who sought to change their name in order to remake themselves. [ ... ] I won't leave him without a name for much longer, but it seemed rather presumptuous to not offer him a chance first.

If that's a deity in charge of knowledge they also should know how to fix what Cyrus did to this place, right?

[Knowledge! Kiryu hopes it's more omniscient and not just...stuff like languages]

...you know, you may be right about that. [Hm. Now that he thinks about it...] I dunno what's your concept of salvation in terms of god, but there are three deities in this world, right?

[Maybe messing with that kind of thing could go wrong for everyone. Kiryu seems to be thinking they're deities on the same level than God or something like that]

Heheh! It's cute, don't worry. [ He flashes her a smile before very gently patting the Maractus on it's head then standing upright! Yosh! Gotta give a reward for reacting. ] Ah... I know what you mean. Though we all probably do, huh?

[ He raises his hand to the back of his head sheepishly. ] But I'm sure if we keep talking to them and trying to form bonds, they'll wake up.

...and well. If he actually was, we'll probably be able to just tell him to sit in the corner and think about what he's done while we fix things, won't we?

[ohmigod are we talking about how great Janet is]

She's probably the most advanced Janet in existence! They compile and build upon what they've learned every time they're rebooted, which...has happened to her a lot.

[He grins, both because he likes this topic and to gloss over that use of passive voice.]

Once she picked up my old boss by the throat and threw him into a wall. Cracked it and everything!

[Yeah, Hlača's just kind of watching Jake do his thing without much comment or apparent desire to do anything. Still wearing the damn suspenders, though, as one does.]

Yeah, I don't get it. Why have the place if you're not going to use it for anything? Seems kinda pointless to me.

There's the casino thing in town that's kind of like that, too. Just a building with stuff in it that no one's using/

That said, the Scraggy doesn't seem distressed at all, it's just kind of looking at people, as it does.]

...He doesn't actually seem pissed off when he turns to face Michael, though? Just. Sort of weirdly flustered.]
