Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. [It's harder to tell with the layers on, but Bucky is certainly muscular.

He doesn't look put off by the concern, though, regarding the man with interest.]

Besides, even if only half the group decides to camp in the Pokemon Center, there will be too many people for me.

What he really wants to look at here is the bookshelves. He's got some basic info from the books available in the department store, but is there anything that might be of use here?]

That's what the Americans are calling those monsters that used to be people. They're all over my country now, it's a fuckin' mess.

Sounds like it'd be a real pain, having to deal with monsters that were once people. Hate to have to ask, but what's an American?

Anyway, I don't think there's much reason for us to all gather in one place.

[He laughs at the question, but it's quiet, pleased.]

Yeah, sure. It's kind of hard setting this up with one arm. I could use a hand.

[ He tilts his head to address her with a somewhat amused smile. ]

...I suppose I am. Perhaps too much so, but I'm afraid it was a force of habit. You see, I'm used to working with others given my calling, in the contractual sense.

[ Don't mind him as he watches and smiles at this. He's still mad about being here, but after watching a few people trying to befriend these guys he's started to calm down. ]

I know it will. [ Though, it's more like he has to believe it will. And he's willing to try to help and communicate with other pokemon, too. He kneels down next to the Maractus and nods his head at it. ] Wow, that's a good color on you. You look great!

[ He looks back at the girl. ] Are you planning on buying it?

[...We're both guys, no one else is immediately around, your dog's a lady but she won't really care? Get over it.]

They're people. Usually if they're just being called Americans they're from the United States, 'cause they're all arrogant like that. Good old U.S. of A. - the only country that matters on the entire godforsaken continent.

I'm from Edonia. An entire ocean away from 'em. Not like it stops them from showing up and fucking around with things that don't involve them.

[A slow smirk began to spread on Ignis's face, the kind characteristic of sudden and inescapable trouble. Oh. Oh no.]

...It would be a bit shortsighted to plan to do the whole thing alone.

They always show up whenever you don't want them around and they feel the need to stick their noses into everyone's business when they could be helping their own people. A bunch of 'em chased me across the ocean.

[...because they thought he kidnapped a princess, but listen. It was still annoying.]

One of the last jobs I had was taking care of a bunch of them that showed up. Said they were from an antiterrorist organization. Maybe they were, maybe they weren't, point is that a bunch of military guys showed up and started mowing people down, calling 'em J'avo like I said. I mean, I get their point, but if a bunch of people were running around calling your guys the devil and not even doing you the courtesy of saying it right? You'd be pretty pissed too.

Oh, certainly. I just... suppose I wish communication was easier at this point in time.

[He looks at his stoic little jellyfish 'mon thoughtfully.]

Maybe I should try actually battling something. I do remember the books saying that things like "psychic" and "ghost" are things unto themselves, and that might work out better with something that isn't an inanimate object.

Is that what J'avo means? Not exactly a very creative name...

Sounds like a pain, though. So how'd the job go?

It's đavo, but apparently they decided what they were saying was close enough for government work. Literally.

The job was going great until the group I was with all went and got themselves infected. Kinda went downhill from there.

[Yuri's gotten changed into this, though he's left the collar open down to his chest, because of course he has. He's got Roc trailing behind him as usual, and when he notices Camilla he approaches to check out what she's working on.]

Oh yeah, sure. What are you working on?

[He'll lift Roc up and set her nearby on the table. She doesn't seem bothered by this at all and just sort of... sits there. Blankly.]

It's pretty much always "just guys I was working with."

[He doesn't really do friends.]

[Non-fiction! Being so in the dark about this world is kinda freaking him out, so his interests are broad. Specifically, though, he'll prioritize things that seem to involve religion and/or the Lake deities, this world's weird technology, or just this specific part of the region they're gonna have to travel through.]

[Yuri was just sort of wandering by, but he pauses when he hears Shirou speak up and then tips his head a bit at the words.]

I'm not sure I'd really call it a contract. We were just sort of given these guys, yeah?

There's a whole guild full of mercenaries where I'm from. We had some trouble with them for a little while since we kept getting in their boss's way.

[And thanks, asshole?? He'll finally glance over after a moment as if to make sure you aren't still changing. Alright, well. Let's just not mention that, it's fine.]
