Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. [Hey, Zelda. What are you trying to ask the residents, exactly?]

[ Oh shit I didn't even mean this as an investigation but I'll take it! She's mostly here earnestly asking people if they would be willing to house a traveller like her for a few nights, possibly in exchange for chores. She would be doing this with the Beldum floating behind her ]

[azumods]

[Whomever she asks will look at her funny for a little while (it might be the ears, who knows) but there's no judgement or anything to it; just trying to sort out what's going on. But generally speaking, she won't be turned away; the basic sentiment she'll get is an oddly dull "our home is yours."]

[hyruglyphics]

[ . . . So like she would worry about imposing, like a fair bit of "are you sures" and "do you have a spare bed?" and "what could I do to help repay you, I haven't a rupee to my name." ]

[azumods]

[Spare beds aren't going to be a problem.

Even if she ends up saying she'll think about it and checking some of the others.

Spare beds aren't a problem in this city.]

[ . . . Well that's creepy.

... To be certain there is like a normal spread of people here, no random missing kids or whatever? (she does indeed say she'll think about it and will keep trying to press the "how do I repay you" thing) ]

[There are kids, so it's not like all the children have turned up missing or something. At the same time, there are...surprisingly few full households, and for a city this size there are generally few people around.]

[ Mmm! ... You know in light of that. Her plan changes after a certain point. Namely, she's going to do this whole ask at public residences thing to make a quick and dirty census. See if she can get some sort of rough headcount of people, how many houses have spare beds, how many people are in the streets or in the department store, the Center, etc. ]

[azumods]

[Well, noticeably the department store only has the bare minimum number of people in it to keep it running. The Center seems to be the same way; there are a few attendants there, and while shifts do change, there don't seem to be any other employees at the front desk at any time. The gym seems completely empty, as does the Game Corner. There are a few people on the streets, but not as many as one would expect in a city this size; again, spare beds aren't a problem in this city.]

[hyruglyphics]

[ . . . Mmm.

You know what, she's going to ask. This census takes up most of her day, of course, so she's going to go back to one of the first houses she went to, apologize for bothering them, and then ask if they know anyone who works at the Galactic building up there? ]

[azumods]

[They do, yes.]

[hyruglyphics]

[ Does it employ many people in town? ]

[azumods]

[It employs people who need it.]

[hyruglyphics]

[ I mean she can't help but repeat "who... need it?" I'm sorry we got in pseudo-dialogue ]

[azumods]

[Yes.

it's cool don't worry about it]

[hyruglyphics]

[ What... or rather, why do they need to go there? ]

[azumods]

[It's better that way.]

[hyruglyphics]

[ . . . she hesitates but ...

then asks "No I... why is that? Would you be willing to tell me?" ]

[azumods]

[Do you doubt that it is?]

[hyruglyphics]

[ she is in a strange position here. It would be wise simply to deny. But she... can't. Not completely. And so she says instead,

"I simply don't understand, that's all." ]

[azumods]

[The response isn't through being cagey or unwilling to answer, nor is it through genuine curiosity; rather, it's given in the sort of way a machine would try to resolve a problem, to find the source of error in the logic presented.

"Where are you from, that you don't understand?"]

[hyruglyphics]

[ Seeing no reason to be dishonest - no, rather - she won't be dishonest. She answers,

"A far off land called Hyrule. I am new to this land, and to its people." ]

[azumods]

[That seems...good enough, really.

"People need to go there because it will save them. It will give them a purpose, and cure their imperfections."]

[hyruglyphics]

[ . . . Mmm

"Do they return from there, to their families? Once their... once they've been corrected? " ]

[azumods]

["It gives them a purpose."]
