WEEK 1.

As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning.

Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim.

It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being.

However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes...

Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good.

Yeah, I was curious about that too. I haven't seen a single Apple Gel here and usually you can find them all over the place. I guess it's good they've got healing items for our partners, but what are we going to do if someone gets attacked?

Healing items? Is that what you guys call medicine on your planet? I guess we could try and make bandages or something.

Well, yeah, you can call 'em medicine, but I mean items that'll restore your health when you eat them. You don't have stuff like that?

What, really? No way! That would've been so useful! Why hasn't anyone invented that?

You're missing out. Apple Gels are pretty common and they taste sort of like candy. Kids really love 'em. Though it's kinda hard to keep them from eating our stash...

[this is a real problem, I am not making this up I promise]

That seems unhealthy. The only food problem I had back home was Angelica packing, like, twelve huge crates of food for two days. Which I guess wasn't really a problem, except I had to help load it all onto the ship.

Sounds like that'd be a pain. But it's better to have more food than to run out early, right?

Some days I think she can't go without eating every ten minutes.

That bad, huh? Is she a good friend of yours?

I'm her assistant! We actually only knew each other for a week, but it feels like it's been way longer.

Oh, yeah? What sort of adventures did you guys go on?

We were chasing this Coyote she'd been after for four years! Except it was really eight years she'd been obsessed with him, she just started chasing him when she got high enough in the rankings to do it! But then we teamed up with the Coyotes because we were both fighting this lady who threw a coup on the Criminal Guild and was after some treasure, same as them, but it was on a planet that was set to explode in seven days! And we were carrying around the head of this robot assassin lady, and she hated us at first, but then we all kind of got used to each other, and when one of her sisters captured us, she let us all out! Well, she wasn't a head anymore by that point. And the Coyotes saved the planet, even though everyone in the galaxy just thinks the bomb was a bluff and they'll never get the credit, everyone will just brush them off as criminals. It's so sad! But Coyotes live with honour and they never betray their family! It's something like... Angelica said "romantic egoist" was a good way to describe it!

...It was a lot of excitement.

[A lot of that went right over his head, but uh.]

It really does sound like it! So are the Coyotes like a guild?

Coyotes are rogues! Criminals who look for treasure! Of course they're a problem, but they're also a lot more honourable than the government turned out to be. They're kind of admirable in that sense!

Heh, I get that. The guilds are the same way, where I'm from. They're good people, mostly, and they've got a lot more honor than most of the Empire's goons.

[It sounds like he means actual guilds and not, you know, the mob. She thinks on this.]

I didn't know what to do when I finally realized the world was unfair. Angelica gave me something I could do to help. Is it like that for you and your guilds?

Exactly like that, actually. A guy I grew up with joined the knights to try to change them from within, but I couldn't stand by while the knights let innocent people get hurt. I can do more to help with the guilds.

[And on his own, because Yuri's a vigilante like that.]

I think I can kind of get both. And now we're kind of outside the structure of anything.

Yeah. We've got a whole new set of challenges to face here. It should be interesting.

[Not exactly ideal, but definitely interesting.]

Too bad we're stuck relying on ourselves because of it...

Well, it's not just ourselves. We've got the other people who woke up here, and we've got our partners.

[He glances down at Roc. She's still not doing anything but she's here!!]

That's true! I named mine Lemonade. I pointed randomly around the store until I found something that sounded cute!

I can't decide if that's better or worse than mine. She's Roc, because I asked her what she wanted to be called and she answered with her species name, "Rockruff".

Come on, it's great! And isn't a roc some kind of old myth bird? You could just say you wanted it to sound cool!

Is it? That sounds way better than "rock but without the k".
