Week 1.
WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week one of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend! Feel free to investigate the city as you see fit this week; we ask only that you try to stagger investigations and be mindful of what's already been checked. If you wish to investigate, notify the mods in your comment subject for your top-level and we'll get on it as soon as possible!] |

We're reading the same things... seems like. Reading the same things but Zelda's also gathered a small stack of several other books as well as some of the pokeballs and a toolkit and generally she just seems to have accepted her lot to study here right in this section of the building but seeing Rey here she- oh. ]
Ah, sorry. I did not expect to see anyone else here.
[ Honestly, she seems a little embarrassed, pulling down her book once she had set said tools and balls on the table. ]

...as the 'girl who didn't know what planets are', but you know what, it could be worse.]
It's fine - I thought I was alone too.
[She's kind of used to it.
...
...awkward...silence....time....?
....no, she can do better than that.]
What are you reading?
no subject
[ This has little tips and tricks for basic battles! It's... odd? It's odd, but it's not ... bad? She flips the book around to show Rey that. ]
I confess I got lost in it, though my original goal was to find out more about these capsules.
no subject
[Considering Rey's idea of a battle involves lots and lots of ships firing lasers at one another, the thought of sending Golett in to wage war just...doesn't seem quite right.]
Didn't Cynthia say they're supposed to be our companions? I'm not going to force Golett to fight my battles for me.
[Honestly, that's barbaric.
...she may have become pretty fond of her big dumb rock-droid, okay]
I mean, would you?
no subject
Only if it wished for it. I am aware that I have no aptitude for battle myself... but it does feel exploitative. ... Wrong. Especially under the circumstances.
[ That said, she does hand Rey the book where it talks about stuff like type advantage and the like ]
no subject
Here. This one talks about all the different species.
[-and offer Zelda her own. It's a large book, featuring full-page pictures of each Pokemon that can be found across the Sinnoh region, and clearly aimed more towards children than adults. Regardless, the pictures are beautiful and the descriptions nice and simple.]
It's a good book. I couldn't find Golett in it, though, and I can't remember seeing yours either.
[Something is nagging at Rey, every time she looks at this girl...
...ah. Yes, she should....
...]
I'm Rey, by the way. I don't think I ever told you my name.
no subject
[ Because she still hasn't worked out what to call hers. It's ... silent most of the time other than some bleeps and bloops. But yeah. She takes the book, gingerly beginning to flip through the pages before-
oh had-- ]
... My name is Zelda, if I did not offer that.
no subject
[And she will - even if it feels like she's met more people over the past day than she has in her entire life.]
As for Golett...
[Let her just tap her big friend on the shoulder.]
Show her.
[...
"Go-lett"]
It's the sound it makes - felt appropriate.
no subject
That's fascinating, that the sound almost sounds like recognizable speech. Other machinery... droids? That I know of can't manage that, though I suppose despite appearances these two are more living organisms than things made by men...
[ Given this book and Cynthia's words and all ]
no subject
There are many different types of droids where I come from; some can talk the way you and I are, others just communicate in beeps. Doesn't mean they're not intelligent - it's just how they talk.
[Have a pat, Golett.]
I'm still struggling with the idea that they're living creatures, though. I mean, not machines. Especially yours.
[...Cynthia the thing is made of metal, Please Explain]
Does it...say anything?
no subject
[ She looks back at the Beldum and it... well, it's silent for a moment until her green eyes look more imploringly at it. It's eye emotes in such a way as to say what do you want until it finally makes a quiet mechanical noise which isn't much of anything honestly. ]
That's about the most it has said to me before now.
[ She does try, but! ... Still. ]
That sounds truly fascinating though... it makes me wonder if the Guardians perhaps had their own language we never deciphered.
no subject
It's funny - that noise is more in line with what I'd expect from a droid, but it still means nothing to me. At least it's different?
[Compared to Golett, anyway.]
Do you think they can understand each other, even though they're speaking different languages?
[.....you know what, hang on, a thought just occurred to her-]
How can we all understand each other, if we're from different worlds? Surely we can't just all conveniently speak the exact same language.
no subject
I hadn't considered that. ... I did think it odd, that every other world seemed to have - [ she almost says rounded ears, stops herself, and then falters, blushing a little ] different traits and understanding than Hyrule, but the thought of different languages had slipped my mind entirely. That is strange.
[ She looks at the Golett and the Beldum. ... ] I wonder, does that ... or rather, do you think it is a language on their parts?
no subject
[Not unless their Pokemon start to show a little more emotion, anyway. At the moment, she can barely get Golett to say anything to her, and she's starting to assume that that's because it doesn't really have to go to the effort to have an actual conversation. Hard to participate when all you can say is one word.
Frowning ever-so-slightly, Rey places a hand on Golett's head.]
Maybe one day we'll meet a Pokemon who can actually communicate with us, but for now...I know they don't say much, but I like having them around.
[...]
I've never really had a...companion like this.
no subject
[ But even if a horse is important, a mount and a companion, it's not... well, it's dissimilar than some small thing to look after like this, something like a partner. After all, a horse has a more stated purpose than her Beldum does. ]
