Week 1.

WEEK 1.

As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning.

Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim.

It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being.

However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes...

Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good.

CURRENT LOCATION: VEILSTONE CITY
POKEMON AVAILABLE: WITHIN CITIES

MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week one of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due this weekend!

Feel free to investigate the city as you see fit this week; we ask only that you try to stagger investigations and be mindful of what's already been checked. If you wish to investigate, notify the mods in your comment subject for your top-level and we'll get on it as soon as possible!]

It's possible.

[He doubts it.]

You know, it seems like it might go faster if we split into smaller groups and went to all the lakes at once. I know Cynthia said we should stick together, but six or so is still a pretty fair amount.

I've been thinking about that too. It seems to me like sticking all together in one group would just draw more attention... But I don't like the idea of leaving any groups without any fighters. We might not be running up against monsters, but who knows what we'll encounter out there?
eudaimonikos: (and I'll tell you that I am fine)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-05 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Not to mention, it'll be much harder to corral twenty-four people. Plenty of us are reasonable enough, but it'd be easy to lose track of someone without noticing...

[He nods about the fighter thing, though; that's a good point.]

How many fighters do we have?

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-05 10:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Good question. I haven't spoken to everyone yet, and a lot of the people I have spoken to prefer using weapons... so it's kinda hard to judge.

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 01:41 am (UTC)(link)
We can find out the next time everyone gets together. Some of the Pokemon could be formidable as well, with a little training...I couldn't find information on all the specific species we have with us, but a lot of them get bigger and stronger as they age. There's a fish that turns into a giant sea serpent.

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Whoa, really? That's pretty cool. It sounds sort of like what the Entelexeia do when they evolve.
fatalstrikes: (✵ 030)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Entelexeia, they're... Well, the simplest way to describe them would be "powerful talking monsters" but they're not monsters, exactly. They look more like monsters than humans, though.
eudaimonikos: (out of my body)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 02:16 am (UTC)(link)
Huh. What these do is called evolution, too. Maybe your world is more closely related to this one than mine, we just use the word for the thing that happens to species over millions of years.
fatalstrikes: (✵ 005)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 02:19 am (UTC)(link)
Is it really? Huh. I'll have to check that out.

[Maybe these are like... mini Entelexeia?? Weird.]

So what have you learned about your partner?
eudaimonikos: (as many times)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 02:26 am (UTC)(link)
Well, she's called a Purrloin, and eventually she'll turn into a Liepard. That's the other thing, a lot of their names are just puns. They're known for pretending to be cute and sweet so that people will let their guard down, and then stealing from them, so it's an appropriate choice on a personal level - and let me tell you, I do not like the implication that they knew that.

[look he has a fairly accurate image of himself, he sees this thing that happened]
fatalstrikes: (✵ 64)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 02:28 am (UTC)(link)
Purrloin— Oh, I get it. That's actually pretty clever.

[he can absolutely appreciate a good pun, good job pokéworld.]

So you think they picked these creatures out specifically for us?
eudaimonikos: (and I'll tell you that I am fine)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
I don't think you can really tell from just this one thing. But it would have been a lot easier to catch a bunch of the same common, local Pokemon for all their identical lackeys. Like we were talking about, most of ours aren't from anywhere nearby.
fatalstrikes: (✵ 015)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 02:37 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's a good point. I wonder why they didn't just do that? If they feel like they have to give us a partner, why not just make it easier on themselves and go with the simplest ones to obtain? There's gotta be a reason behind it.
eudaimonikos: (on the way to language)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 02:45 am (UTC)(link)
I would think so. I just don't know what it is...battling? Battling who, Cynthia? There's only one of her, how many people-and-Pokemon pairs could they need?

[Because two dozen people with their level ten starters can definitely get the job done - well, no one's seen that fucking Garchomp yet]
fatalstrikes: (✵ 013)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good question, honestly. I mean, maybe the point is to overwhelm her with numbers or something? Still, it seems like we're missing something here.
eudaimonikos: (utilitarianism)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 03:17 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sure we are. It's a couple-year-old conflict in an entirely different universe, there's only so much we can pick up on in a day or two.

Especially when they don't have any libraries. [he's weirdly salty about the lack of research materials]
fatalstrikes: (✵ 69)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-06 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
It is kind of weird that everything's in the store, and that there's only one store. But I guess they don't really need more than one with the way they are now...
eudaimonikos: (one look from you)

[personal profile] eudaimonikos 2018-06-06 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
The local economy must have been really strange at one point...
fatalstrikes: (✵ 013)

[personal profile] fatalstrikes 2018-06-07 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. I guess it doesn't matter as much now, though.
