Week 1.

WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. [Try like the first fifty times. That's how many times it felt like he had to be tackled to the ground before he truly decided that he wanted to stay with Deimon.

He still doesn't regret that decision.]

[He looks small, shrinking in on himself even when he stands firm.]

...I have to get back to them...they're waiting for me.

[Jake just...kind of takes that in for a moment; this sort of shit is what most kids think about, isn't it? Friends and games and sports, not...

...Anyway. His voice is easy when he speaks; his expression is always a little on the intense side, but that's just kind of his face.]

Don't worry, kid. We're gonna get you back to your friends, okay? Wouldn't want 'em to be without you for too long.

[Intense, yet weirdly approachable? It feels like talking to Shin, really.]

...Yeah. We've got an important game coming up, you know?

[He laughs nervously.] Although...that seems kinda small compared to, uh...

[Monkeys that can set things on fire? Weird soulless robot world? Being dragged across dimensions to be in this madness?]

[He shrugs a bit at that; he can see the point, but...]

If it's important to you, then it's important, you know? I've got some stuff to get back to myself, there's these kids I made a promise to and I want to keep it.

But if we're here now, we might as well look into whatever we can. We've got to in order to get home, if that Cynthia lady's right about it.

Yeah...I guess we've all got something important to get back home to, right?

[And if he can help anyone get back home...he'd do it.]

I wonder what she expects us to find down at Lake Valor, though...

I don't know. Some kind of deity, I guess, I think that's what she called 'em.

[He shrugs.]

Talking to God's a little beyond me.

[Sena laughs nervously.]

I dunno what would wanna make a god speak to us... [To him, he means.]

...Yeah.

[He knows the feeling, honestly.]

I'll probably let some of the others handle it. Emmeryn, maybe. Or Zelda. They're the sort of people I can see talking to something like that.

[Oh, he definitely remembers Zelda.]

...Definitely Zelda. She's got all sorts of knowledge about mystic stuff like that...

[Meanwhile, Sena would probably...trip over his own feet, honestly. He can just see it now.]

Yeah, she does, doesn't she.

[It's kind of weird to hear her talk about it sometimes.]

We don't really have anything like that where I'm from, and I'm guessing you don't either.

[Sena shakes his head quickly.]

Only in stories. [And sometimes whatever Hiruma cooks up.]

I guess we'll learn more about it while we're here, huh?

Something else to look forward to, I guess.

[It doesn't sound entirely sarcastic; this whole thing's kind of weird, but it's not...terrible? Outside of the weird soulless people wandering around.]

You been figuring out what your friend's like, in the meantime? ...As much as any of 'em are like anything.

[Sena looks at Monta still clambering around the tires he'd never quite finished setting up.]

He likes...climbing?

[Good job.]

[That gets him to laugh a little, albeit briefly.]

Doing better than me, kid, I've got no idea what's going on in this guy's head most of the time. You give yours a name yet?

[Sena looks at the little Scraggy, and he can't help but smile.]

He's pretty cute, though... [The little suspenders...]

Oh. Uh, he's called Monta.

[The monkey looks over at hearing his name. It's clearly responding to it, at least.]

[He does his best. He is also being called cute and does not give much of a fuck, because of course he doesn't, but Jake appreciates the sentiment at least.]

Monta, huh... Named after anything?

Ah, yeah! My best friend.

[He blinks, then smiles sheepishly.]

He'd be mad if he knew I said it, but...he really does look like a monkey...

[Sena can hear the enraged MUKYAAAAAAAA in his mind right now.]

[He'a amused, anyway.]

[Sena ducks his head down, embarrassed. It takes him a few seconds to look back up, although he doesn't look any less bashful.]
