azume | Week 1.

WEEK 1.

As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning.

Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim.

It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being.

However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes...

Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good.

Of course. [ He looks up just in time to see Ventus hop in, confusion giving way to a smile. ]

Let's see, would the best ones be large stones or those which are shiny? Or maybe the coloring matters most...

The shiny ones, I think. One or two larges stones would be okay, but for these guys I think we'd need something super noticeable and bright colored, right?

[ Ventus is also hoping they'll react to things that are more shiny in general, but hey. ]

[ A nod. ]

Something vibrant to draw their attention then... [ Seems he's not opposed to getting his hands dirty either, as he readily sifts through some of the rocks. There's nothing really exciting here, but he does manage to find one that's stained bright red due to clay. ]

Starting with one for each of them seems best.

[ He doesn't find one that's bright red, but... there's something that is orangish-red and Ventus will pick it up for now, holding it out in front of him with a bit of a smile. It's definitely a start! ]

Yep. I think I found one too, so we're good to go for now.

[ At least the pit isn't too deep that he can't leap right out of it. So, oop, there he goes! ]

Next we should think about where to hide them. Do you think near some of the trees would work out just fine?

[ Following suit easily enough! ]

Yes, and a place that's not too far out of reach either. We might need to encourage or give them hints so they can find it. [ Aka let's not put it in a tree. Hmm... this bush looks like a pretty good spot. ]

Maybe some verbal encouragement could work, then. Though I'm guessing "it's near something green" as a hint is out of the question?

[ ... Also good call, because guess who was thinking of putting his shiny rock in a tree. This guy!!

Listen, Klefki can float around, okay.

To make it not extremely difficult, however, he heads over to a bush nearby. Not right next to Shirou's bush, but, close enough. ]

I think that's suitable, as long as we give them a sense of direction too. [ There are a lot of green things here, after all. Shirou finishes his stone in the bush and walks back several feet, Litleo following. ]

Ready when you are.

[ He makes sure Klefki hasn't wandered away or anything, and well, the Pokemon hasn't but she didn't seem to be paying attention to where they hid the rocks so that's good. So he heads over to his Pokemon with a smile. ]

Alright, Aurora, we're going to be playing a game. We're going to need to find some stuff -- like shiny rocks. Can you help me do that?

[ Silence. ]

... It's going to be close by too so it's not going to be too hard. Just nod or...something if you understand.

[ The Pokemon just says Klefki once, which Ventus thinks counts enough for him to look back at Shirou. ]

Okay, I'm ready. First hint is that it's near somewhere...green!

[ He's actually never done a scavenger hunt before but he does know what they are, so. Totally winging it and starting it even though they're not too far from the spot. ]

Litleo, find the bright rock. It's nearby, and close to a green object. [ Unlike before Shirou's tone is more authoritative, like he's had some experience in leading before. Unfortunately the Litleo moves forward a few steps then continues to stare blankly ahead. ]

Go on, I believe in you.

[ His Klefki floats forward once, but kind of just sits there, looking like she's taking a sun bathing routine midday rather than doing anything useful. ]

You can do it! Look at that, you're already doing so good. I bet you can make it if you keep on going. Go go go!

[ Sure, Ventus does notice Shirou's seriousness, but for his part he's not very authoritative at all...mostly because he's not held the same experience and just because of the way he is. At the very least, his Pokemon moved one more time.

So basically two steps if Klefki had feet. ]

They're not off to a bad start, I think, for their first time doing this.

Indeed, they are making some headway compared to earlier. You're quite good at this. [ The cheering, he means but he also looks at the two listless pokemon as he says it. ]

Litleo—move forward, and choose which bush you think the rock is in. [ Shirou opts to continue to give clear orders rather than cheer, and to his credit his Litleo does follow his most recent command. ...nada on choosing a bush though. ]

You're good at this too. Look, you even got him pretty far already.

[ Shirou's leadership skills are certainly refined -- he wonders about it a little. He doesn't know much about this man -- which includes his name as of now. He encourages his Pokemon some more, which gets Klefki to move about...two paces forward. That's. Some sort of progress.

But, he'll turn to Shirou again. ]

By the way, my name's Ventus, but you can call me Ven. It seemed kind of silly for us to be working together and not even knowing each other's names, right?

Yes, but I would prefer he make some decisions on his own. Still, he has made progress. [ His voice still has that authoritative quality, but he waits patiently to see if Litleo will make a move on his own. That is until Ventus' introduces himself at least, and he turns to face him with a somewhat frazzled smile. ]

Oh! Forgive me for failing to do so sooner. I am Shirou Kotomine, it is a pleasure to meet and work with you, Ven.
