Week 1.
WEEK 1. As Cynthia had promised, the sun does indeed rise the next morning. Whether you slept or not (and sleeping inside the Pokémon Center you were in before seems totally fine by the attendant), it seems Cynthia kept her word; she left sometime shortly before sunrise, and you haven't been bothered by Team Galactic and those that work for it in the interim. It isn't advisable to return to the headquarters building, however. At least not for the time being. However, a new day does dawn, and with it comes the knowledge that you're in an unfamiliar city, completely on your own. There are several things to be done before you can leave: gathering supplies and provisions, finding maps, obtaining new clothes... Of course, your new "companions" are still with you, and they don't seem willing to leave your side; they'll follow you dutifully, but they still seem...wrong, horribly so, and it doesn't seem to be wearing off. Maybe if you work with them a little...? Try to talk to them, train them, teach them to do things... Who knows? It might do them some good. [He gestures with his spoon for emphasis.]
They're not in their right minds, any of them.
[Watching her pour the rice into the pot, he nods.]
Yeah, that's good. Thanks. Rice and beans take the longest to cook; because they're both so dry, they need to spend a lot of time cooking in water to be edible.

either way, now that that's settled, she goes to sit down, about as prim and neat as she can be while sitting on the ground. she leans over some—] Come, don't be shy. [—and the Bagon lingering awkwardly still behind her finally toddles over to sit next to her at her instruction. she...probably hasn't figured out how to put him back in the ball, tbh]
It's strange. Certainly, something terrible has happened to these people, but it would be so much easier to ignore us...and yet, they'll still help if asked. It isn't a kindness to be taken advantage of, of course, but it's still a kindness.

[He greets the bagon with a smile, clearly not bothered at all by him being out of the ball, considering Bucky's first action upon finding out there was an animal inside a ball on his belt was to throw it across the room.
He doesn't spend long greeting the animal, though, returning to the pot to stir repeatedly, careful not to burn anything.]
It's a kindness that comes from their conditioning.
[Bucky hates getting dark, likes keeping all of this bottled up, but he doesn't see any other option right now.]
That doesn't mean they'd be so kind, so open if they were acting like themselves. They're trapped in their own minds right now, likely unaware that anything is the matter.

so Emmeryn's quiet for exactly as long as it takes to beckon her Bagon to come sit in her lap, and her voice goes a little softer, but just as calm and certain and always.]
Forgive me, here I've gone and made things melancholy, and over dinner, no less. I'd like to take that as proof that they're still with us, in some small way—but I'd believe that nonetheless.
[She smiles, warm.]
I don't doubt you. I just think it ever more important to find out what can be done for this world.

Cynthia said the lake spirits would be our best bet. I assume they're gods of sorts themselves. With any luck, they're aware of things like Cynthia is-- I'm not sure why she got spared from all of this, if even we weren't.

[She takes a moment to resettle Duma in her lap as she speaks; why does this tiny dragonsaur weigh like a hundred pounds?? please she has like no str she's a mage]
Cynthia told me she had some hand in what came to pass here, though she didn't elaborate any further. Still, it seems we have an ally in her now. I believe the lake spirits will be a promising start, but if not, the journey is still young.

We don't know who she is, but she's the only person who has been able to give us real answers. At least she seemed genuinely pleased to see us.
