Restart.

APOCALYPSE.

It's difficult to say how long you're unconscious.

Whenever you do wake up, it's warm; your limbs will probably feel a bit heavy, and it might take a while for you to come back into yourself fully - whatever just happened, it's disorienting, weighing heavily on your body and leaving a heavy fog over your senses, and for a long moment it may be tempting to go back to sleep.

Slowly, though, everything will start to seep back in. The confrontation with Cyrus. Countless beams of light smashing down to earth, tearing everything in their path away. Judgement.

The end of the world.

The ruins still seem, miraculously, to be intact; pushing yourself up to sit up and look around will make it clear that whatever protected you from the attack on the world is still present, a swirling field of white light encapsulating the area and forming a protective shield around your group. The Lake Guardians are present for a brief moment, hovering overhead in a manner that's easily read as concerned, but as soon as enough of you are awake they'll take their leave - it's difficult to say where they're going and why, given that they don't offer an explanation, but all three of them are together still, having seemed to have found each other eventually over the past little while.

Their protection vanishes with them, and their departure may leave you feeling empty; on the other hand, it may not affect you at all, seeing as you have other things to worry about. Leaving the ruins themselves and returning to the center of Celestic Town, it will be immediately obvious that something is very, very wrong.

The first noticeable difference is in the people of the town; it seems that Cyrus adhered to his word in that everyone is alive, having been reborn after the world was destroyed. But there's something unwelcome and familiar about them now - the inability to process very much, the staring with nothing behind it, the lack of drive or desire to do anything for themselves, it seems that everything about them that made them a person has once again been torn away from them, leaving them dead-eyed and spiritless.

The other differences are less noticeable, but as the day goes on, something seems...off. Not just with the people, but with the world as a whole.

The passage of time and the expansion of space are things that everyone takes for granted; as long as the day passes by, the sun moving across the sky to fade into night, it can be assumed that everything is working as it should be. But the longer you spend here, the more it becomes obvious that something feels wrong; the sun continues to pass overhead, night will eventually fall, but there's an undeniable sense that nothing is really happening. The perceived passage of time seems more and more irrelevant to you, giving way to a notion that you're just...stuck, somehow. That nothing is changing, despite evidence that it should be; that everything is strange and stagnant and still despite the fact that you're still moving forward.

It's this, maybe, that makes you realize why Lucas is twelve at the oldest, despite the passage of at least five years; the flow of time, the expansion of space... Both have been disrupted and brought to a standstill.

Take the day to get used to your new reality; it might take some time to get accustomed to.

[OOC: Welcome to the start of Week 14, the end of the world, and the beginning of the second half of the game!

No NPC response will be given to this post, though you can thread here amongst yourselves if you wish; we'll see you tomorrow at noon with a new log for your further adventures!]

Noct-?

[He awoke with a vaguely mumbled syllable; the last thing he was aware of was the sense of the world collapsing, Noctis' hand in his own, a sense of resolve he couldn't name-]

[...then nothing. The impossible outcome of still existing even after all of that, persisting past what was to be their complete eradication. A hand still in his own--unmistakably that of his king, warm and alive that his immediate first concern was answered just as instantly as it had arisen.]

[Ignis sat up and pressed his free hand to his eyes, taking a slow breath and steadying himself as best he could. Whatever happened and whatever saved them...he was willing to bet things had just gotten much more complicated.]

[Later, once everything settled down and the situation was generally apparent, Ignis could be found in the Pokemon Center, sitting off to the side with one leg folded over the other and an atmosphere of calm and tranquil absolute fury around him.]

[Morag feels heavier and heaver as everything sinks in. She recalls the last thing she said to Cyrus, how she lost her cool and insulted him, goaded him into doing this. And now she understood why he never made a move until now. He has no need to put forth effort, because all it takes is a wave of his hand. Now she understands that this truly is a stagnant, unchanging world.

She didn't think she would ever come up against someone with more sheer power than Malos or Jin. A critical mistake- one that they all have to pay for.

Morag silently breaks off from the group, heading towards one of the small ponds where she stares into the water, deep in thought. She has to think of a way to make this better somehow.]

[The last thing Michael remembers is a feeling, familiar yet powerful. It's like when he looked at their ages and ages of tearing humans apart, or the system of judging souls itself, and thought to himself, This needs to be better. I can make this better. It's like when he first understood that he, himself, needed to be better too.

He cracks his eyes open enough to see Uxie, and tries to call out to them. That Guardian's his friend. But he can't quite force the words out of his dulled and slowed body, and then they're gone, and that sensation with them.

But making things better has never been easy. It's a little bit of a production for Michael to push himself upright, but he does so with a low groan, holding one hand to his head. Ugh, is this dizziness? Thanks, he hates it. Still seated, he cranes his neck around, taking count of the bodies around him. The world's probably fucked, but it can wait - his top priority's here.]

Everybody okay?

[Afterwards, when he's recovered more and manages to hobble on out of there with everyone else, he spends a little bit of time around town, scooping up random Gastly and Misdreavus to peer into their eyes. Eventually, that gets kinda depressing, so he repairs to the Pokemon Center to just sort of hang around with everyone else.]

[As it turns out, waking up after the end of the world is very, very similar to waking up after Ustanak decides to stomp on your head: it's not pleasant, and unconsciousness is definitely preferable to dealing whatever the hell is going on around you, and there's a lot of weird white light that isn't doing much to make you want to keep your eyes open. It isn't until the Lake Guardians have fucked off that he really seems to be able to register anything; he kind of lies there with his arm draped over his eyes, muttering something to himself in Italian that is probably a string of increasingly creative swearing, before he makes himself get up and go outside to see if there's any goddamn goodness left in the world.

And would you look at that. There is not.

He doesn't go far, just because there's nowhere to fucking go; he'll join the others in the Center, though, because hanging out in the weird soulless town on his own isn't his idea of a good time. He's kind of glaring at everything, but even outside of the situation, that's admittedly just kind of his face.]

So. Seeing as we're still alive and somehow not totally skullfucked by everything that just happened, the question I've got for everyone is "How much of our own bullshit do we actually believe?" Because if we're gonna make good on our bullshit, now is probably the time to start doing that.

[Well. She never expected to find something more terrifying and fearful to her than facing her own sister down, but when Camilla wakes up in a cold sweat, that's exactly where she is, mentally. It felt like a nightmare; everything they did falling apart at the seams, Cyrus being far too powerful to even consider killing, the beams of light, her last words, everything--

It's. Definitely ensured that she stays a little bit around the ruins at first, if only to try and seek out the younger members of the group and see how they're doing. It's what little she can do, after all, but after that...

She finds herself at the entrance of Route 210, just. Kind of sitting and trying not to work herself up into too much of an angry, borderline despondent mess and likely looking just plain lost after all of it. She could have killed him. She could have at least tried to do something, and it'd have been better than being struck by fear. And that's to say nothing about how scared she is for her own Pokemon, and what they've become...

It's a bad, bad day, and she just needs to be away from everything for a little bit, at least.]

[He just wanted to go home. He wanted to go home to England where everything would be back to normal and he could just experiment in peace, he shouldn't have tried to get involved with the Holy Grail War, he should have just-

ah.

okay. he was still alive.

...

He was still alive. He should be dead, but he wasn't.

It kept happening. It kept happening, and it wasn't because of his own strength or cleverness, it was because someone took pity on him-

Well, anyway, Kayneth's just kind of staring at the wall in the ruins and quietly losing his shit. Just give him, like. A while.]

[Atsushi hadn't spoken a word, after Cyrus gave his ultimatum. The world was ending. This world...and potentially all other worlds after, once he got to them, were going to go away.

What could you say, after all of that? What can you say, when staring down the barrel of your last few moments alive?

He hadn't expected to live, yet here they all were. Alive, somehow. It's still something he's struggling to process even hours later as the world has fallen back into it's former disarray, and the people living in it are once again just...empty shells. Husks of people. Now more than ever, Atsushi can't comprehend why anyone would think this to be a perfect world.

He's goes to the Center with anyone else there, not interested at all in being outside right now, much less outside and alone. It doesn't do much to help him not think about how things are, though. He still hasn't said anything to anyone yet, sitting on the floor in a corner with both his Wimpod and Stunky crowded in his lap. They seem just as spooked and shocked to be alive- and free thinking- as he is.]

[No reaction... Was I wrong, then?

For a long few moments, Emmeryn doesn't move because she isn't entirely convinced that she can.

But Duma, ever faithfully standing at her side, nudges his whole face-body against her hand and makes a sad rumbling noise somewhere low in his shell, and she reaches up to pat him, then uses him as support to at least sit back up. Upset, Duma props both front legs into her lap and squawks at her until she pets him.
]

Well, now. It isn't as fun an adventure when I... [Ah—no, but these are the ruins, but they are in Sinnoh, but she is alive. A short sigh, and then, softly:] It isn't, is it?

[She nudges Duma out of her lap so she can stand, now carrying herself with some urgency.]

Is everyone all right?

[She's quick to come offer a hand up to anyone still working on that whole standing thing.

She does split off from the group, briefly, once everyone is reoriented enough to gather at the Center—she sees enough of them there together and decides they'll be well enough without her for a few moments, and she heads to the shrine. She sets down enough of her berry supplies as an offering to make Duma whimper in complaint, but even he can figure out to shut the fuck up for once in his life as Emmeryn closes her eyes and clasps her hands, fingers intertwined, up at her chest, and hopes someone hears her. Her head aches, dull and hot at the front of her forehead.

But of course she returns to the Center with the others, certainly not about to wander the town alone. Even now, she won't sit still for a moment. Audhulma cannot decide whether she wants to cling to Emmeryn's skirts or sit with Latona in some corner where the giant rabbit beast won't be too obtrusive, but Duma does his best to toddle right behind Emmeryn everywhere she goes. She disappears in one direction, returns to set steaming teacups down on tables next to tired friends by way of greeting; makes fruitless conversation with the attendants, excuses herself to set Audhulma down with Latona when the former sniffs and trembles; comes to her traveling companions with her empty hands folded in front of her and murmurs,

[ "Even then! If I am reborn anew"

That's what she had said, returning to faith at the end of things, as she was brought up to do. And it seems, in the end, providence has won out. Zelda ... honestly, when she awakens, even if it hurts, if she's confused and they've fairly definitively lost... Well. She isn't reborn now. She didn't need to wait for the spirit of Hylia to reincarnate. She is still the one here - she, this unworthy vessel and this princess of Hyrule, a scholar named Zelda.

In a way, despite the hopelessness of the moment, it gives her a degree of vindication. Faith that, perhaps, she can be the proper choice, that this was the way destiny was meant to go for her. Or, if not, that she might fulfill that purpose anyway.

It's not really a time for hope though, the world has clearly gone a little mad. Actually very mad, back towards where they were at before, back when this started, if not even a little worse. But she and they can still feel, and sending all of her Pokémon out of their balls, they still can too. So, in the familiar set up of all of her Pokemon inside the circle made by the wrapping of Bosphoramus's body, Zelda... sets to work cooking something. Well, cooking a stew and reviewing her notes, but someone needs to feed people. Maybe.

So yeah, if you're in and around the Center or that little cluster there, she's offering stew. Not upbeat, but not... entirely crushed either. ]

[It's like he's swimming in darkness. It feels a little like the night he fled from HYDRA permanently, unbelievable nightmares bubbling to the surface as he thrashes himself awake in the empty cart at the back of a train, hoping he's not about to be caught as he makes his way westward.

The wet nose on his hand is what makes him open his eyes, and for a brief moment, he wonders if he's collapsed on his farm, but then the world comes crashing back to him. Cyrus, the end of the world. The Guardians.

Flora looks terrified. His other Pokemon are safely in their Pokeballs. Bucky groans loudly, sitting up and just... laughing darkly.]

[ keith didn't think things were going to happen this way--and when he's engulfed in darkness, keith doesn't think he'll wake up again. he thinks of the blades. the paladins. shiro. everyone who needs him...but they'll be okay. shiro's back. voltron will be fine. the blades will continue without him.

he can at least rest believing that things will be okay.

but he wakes. and everything comes flooding back. cyrus--the others. dammit. he should have--he should have went for it. he should have tried to do something. and now...they're left with an empty husk of a world. but keith can still feel. he's...worried that the others might not be the same.

[Cyrus wasn't like Alexei. He'd made the mistake of thinking handling Cyrus would be like handling Alexei, and he'd thought Cyrus would snap before anything bad would actually happen, and then—

And then the world ended, and this time it didn't involve the Adephagos.

Yuri's quick to leave after he awakens, Dein Nomos floating silently after him. He looks like he's going somewhere with a purpose, but he gets to the edge of town before just... stopping. He hasn't had to stop to see how things have changed, the dead look in everyone's eyes is back and he just... doesn't want to deal with it right now.

His hands ball into fists and he just shakes for a long moment before finally he moves to sit down. Dein Nomos floats nearby, watching Yuri in silence as usual, though the sword seems a lot more attentive than usual.

Yuri will be over here for awhile, just to get his thoughts in order.

He'll eventually make his way back to the Pokémon Center. While he wants to do nothing but sit in the corner alone with his thoughts, he's decided to make an effort to check on everyone else instead. At some point during the evening he'll approach you, holding up a hand in greeting.]

[When Eustace comes to, he's greeted by the same eerie stillness that he told Mesprit he detested so much. And as that hits him while he lies there on the cold ground, so does the gravity of everything else that happened. The encounter with Cyrus, the the horrifying reality that even their home worlds weren't safe from this, the inability to stop Cyrus from ending it all...

And, much like the very first time the group woke up in this world, Eustace doesn't stick around for very long. Once he's done staring up at the cave ceiling, he eases himself up off the ground and staggers out.

He doesn't make it very far, though. Anyone leaving the ruins can find him just outside, near one of the staircases leading up to the rest of the town. Rose and Pup are out of their balls and huddled around him as he sits there. He's got his arms wrapped around Pup and his face buried into his fur as the big dog tries his best to fit into his lap. The Pokemon are confused- they're not entirely aware of the situation just yet, but they can tell something isn't quite right. They're doing their best to comfort their trainer.

He stews there for a while, collecting his thoughts. They've been given a second shot at this, and he meant what he said to Mesprit, so he has to do something differently this time. The return of Cyrus' "peace", and the potential that this could hit his home world and those he cares for there, only amplifies that thought.

At some point, he finally gets a hold of himself and joins the others at the Pokemon Center.]

...sorry for not coming sooner.

[He knows he should've come with the group as they headed back earlier, but he was way too in his head for a while. He's doing a bit better now though- or at least he's more up for talking, picking up the pieces and planning for what's next.]
