Week 2.

WEEK 2.

The new week begins with new surroundings.

The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason.

Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way.

From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there.

Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important...

CURRENT LOCATION: ROUTE 213
POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER

SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY
[OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!]

I did offer to teach you, didn't I? Explaining whatever I'm able to is just part of that.
semistableman: (✪ maybe you're a joker)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 02:49 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds reasonable enough to me.

[He flips through the book for a while before he comes across something where he can almost figure out what it is, but he has to ask just to be sure.]

What's a garula?
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
It's a common quadrupedal herbivore. Generally around fifteen feet long, they're found in herds around a single matriarch called a garulessa.
semistableman: (★ i would change everything)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 03:28 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds a little like a cow.

[He tips his head thoughtfully.]

Though, I'll admit, I've stopped eating meat since I started raising goats.

[They're his therapy pets, not food!!]
discutio: (one maniac at a time we'll take it back)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 03:34 am (UTC)(link)
Never heard of it, I'm afraid.

[yes, really.]

But that's fine. There should be a fair amount of vegetarian options in there, and I think substitution should be easy enough for a few others.
semistableman: of my own (★ never had a cherry valance)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 04:00 am (UTC)(link)
Figured. Different animals on different planets; it makes sense to me.

[He leans forward, petting the skiddo at his feet, who makes a sound like a sigh, but doesn't do much of anything else.]

I packed food that should last for a while-- dry, canned, that sort of thing. Fresh food probably won't last too long, though.

But I figure even if it's just between the two of us doing most of the cooking, people should be all right.
discutio: (crosswalks crossed hearts hope-to-dies)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Likewise, I think that'll be fine. I'm used to cooking for a much smaller group, but the added challenge sounds like it might be fun.
semistableman: (★ someplace i will never be)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 04:53 am (UTC)(link)
It seems like we've got a good bunch here.

[Maybe not the ageless demon who says gibberish like he expects people to know what he means, though.]

It'll be fun cooking for them, 'cause besides for my buddy, I usually only cook for myself.
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 05:03 am (UTC)(link)
Do you live alone, then? I'm more accustomed to preparations for two at least. Usually four.
semistableman: of my own (★ never had a cherry valance)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Technically, yes.

[He makes a thoughtful noise, foot tapping a couple times on the ground.]

But my hut, it's more... hmm. I sleep in it, but that's all I do; most of my day is outdoors. So at the end of the day, I really want to just relax for a while, no big crowds.
discutio: (we are the jack-o-lanterns in july)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 05:39 am (UTC)(link)
You know, I have the distinct feeling you would get along spectacularly with a friend of mine. I've little doubt he'd live outdoors if he could, he enjoys things like camping a startling amount.
semistableman: (★ someplace i will never be)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)
[Bucky laughs.]

Sounds like my kind of guy.
discutio: (and i'll burn you to the ground)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 06:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, he'd be in his element here. Gladio's the one who taught me how to actually set up a campsite, even if he preferred to do it himself.
semistableman: (✪ he's never coming back)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-11 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
At least that means I'm not the only one who knows how to pitch a tent.
discutio: (and i'll burn you to the ground)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-11 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
You've a stroke of excellent fortune on that front.
semistableman: (★ someplace i will never be)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-12 12:14 am (UTC)(link)
Lucky me, because setting up twenty-four tents sounds pretty exhausting.
discutio: (crosswalks crossed hearts hope-to-dies)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-12 12:16 am (UTC)(link)
Even setting up twelve each sounds like a bit much. We'll just have to teach the others what to do and see how well they take to the lesson.
semistableman: of my own (★ never had a cherry valance)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-12 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds reasonable to me; if we're going to be at this for a while, it only makes sense.
discutio: (we are the jack-o-lanterns in july)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-12 12:27 am (UTC)(link)
Experience is an excellent teacher, as is necessity. They'll be sure to figure it out sooner rather than later.
semistableman: (★ i would change everything)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-12 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
They'll definitely need it, especially if the climate gets colder the further along we go. Gotta know how to insulate a tent, and I'll admit I don't know a whole lot about that.
discutio: (dance alone to the beat of your heart)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-12 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
...I have to confess I don't know much of that. Our kingdom was a bit on the warmer side in most places.
semistableman: (❆ like she told me)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-12 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, same with the place I'm living.

The place I grew up in had rough winters, but I wasn't living outdoors then.
discutio: (setting fire to the sky)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-12 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
[Ignis paused as if debating over whether or not his next question was a wise one to ask, but ultimately curiosity won out:]

What kind of place are you from?
semistableman: of my own (★ never had a cherry valance)

[personal profile] semistableman 2018-06-12 04:25 am (UTC)(link)
Well, the two places I'd call home are on opposite sides of the Earth, and different hemispheres to boot, so there's a big difference between them, climate-wise.

New York, it's got warm summers, but cold as hell winters. It's right on the coast; I used to work at the docks.

Wakanda is completely different, pretty warm year-round, doesn't get a lot of rain. It's pretty arid, but most of the land can be farmed on.
discutio: (one maniac at a time we'll take it back)

[personal profile] discutio 2018-06-12 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
Sounds like quite the range of weather. Most of Lucis tended towards the latter, though one does find heavy rain common out to the west. Furthest across the world from that is Niflheim, which used to be a desert region--now it's primarily snow and ice.
