Week 2.
WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!] |

Maybe he will head over to the pond to at least freshen up a bit, getting some water to strain and boil and then splash his face a bit... and you know what? There's a berry patch right there. Just a bunch of berries. Hell yeah.
...this is probably a good way to ingratiate himself with people, but he's actually thinking of something else. He actually spends a little bit of time on the day's march hiking through the grassier areas looking for a specific Pokemon, because as he was reading through info books on Pokemon he found an intriguing alternate source of protein. It seems hard to find, but...
...well, he's not lucky today, because whenever the team stops for the night he kind of slumps down by the nearest fire.]
...look. Do you... want to share these berries I found.

[he pulls his notebook out of his backpack and opens it up to make sure...]
No, I think they're fine. I came across some information on how berries affect Pokemon in books I was reading, and all the ones I found were mentioned as being safe to eat.
...We probably shouldn't eat the Chesto berries at night, though, because they're apparently supposed to wake sleeping Pokemon.

...would they be edible? They're much more intelligent than chickens...

...I'm not sure if I could stomach eating the actual Pokemon, mind, but unfertilized eggs are different.

[ He doesn't mind helping out. ]

...
I'm not particularly interested in hunting Pokemon to eat, so I heard there's a Pokemon that carries particularly nutritious eggs around. I was thinking I could see if I could give it some berries in exchange for an egg so I could get some actual protein.

[ He remembers skimming some books back in the city while trying to look for stuff on Klefki. Once again not an avid reader but he was Determined and he had a hard time forgetting things.
You know, when extenuating circumstances aren't involved. ]
What did the Pokemon look like again?

[ He looks thoughtful. ]
Let's start checking each and every one of the bushes, then? And then around the trees if we don't see anything there.

Ah, thank you. Only if there's enough to go around, though, as I'm afraid I haven't anything to offer in return just now...

[...he separates the Chesto berries, actually...]
Those ones aren't really good for if you want to sleep, if I'm making the right inferences from its apparent effects on Pokemon.

[althouuuuugh]
...Actually, would it be much trouble to ask for one? I offered to aid with tonight's watch, so the extra energy certainly won't hurt—and we can find out for certain if we'll be affected the same way, no?

...and hmm. I think I'd honestly prefer hearing if they help you stay up than trying to use them to wake myself up in the morning if they're not effective for that purpose in humans.
