Week 2.
WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... POKEMON AVAILABLE: NEAR WATER SUNDAY | MONDAY | TUESDAY | WEDNESDAY | THURSDAY | FRIDAY [OOC: Welcome to week two of Azume; feel free to make as many top levels as you'd like and tag out to other characters! This post is for all of your interactions this week... at least until the weekend. Don't forget that a write-up is due next weekend!] |

... Very well, though I must confess that all of these are old, old stories. If any can be called historical is questionable.
[ And she settles in, setting down her pen to decide where to begin and... ]
When the world was young, three golden goddesses descended upon it from the distant cosmos. They came to a world of chaos, and they resolved to create order. Din, who represented power, formulated the lands of the world. Naryu, who represented wisdom, brought water and life to the world. And Farore, who represented courage, brought the natural order of law of the land which would become Hyrule. Their labors complete, these golden goddesses left one more gift, though it would be locked away in the Sacred Realm until a mortal worthy of it might find it: the Triforce. Its three golden triangles, when held in the hands of someone worthy, would grant their heart's trust wish. The Sacred Realm and his fledging world was left in the card of the great goddess Hylia, who swore to oversea the young tribes on its surface, including the people who bore her name, the ancient Hylians.

[hi yeah he hates this]
That's quite the tale, even if it is only mere legend.

That sounds...perhaps not similar, but the structure holds to part of my own world's oldest stories, with about as much fact to support them.

[A pause, but then:]
For that purpose they granted to the kingdom a Crystal, that when things were at their darkest as foretold, a chosen king would arise to claim its light and save the world.

... There are similarities, then. The triforce is no such destined item, but there are others, items and powers both, passed down through the ages.

Likewise. The bloodline tasked with bearing the Crystal also carries powers granted by its light, as well as...an artifact of sorts used as a conduit for its greatest powers.
It's...quite the coincidence, isn't it.

Somewhat, but in truth I do find it... [ . . . ] I would hope other worlds are more peaceful than to need such prophecy, but it is strange for me to imagine one devoid of such stories.
no subject
...I would...sincerely like to think there are worlds like that.

... I only said that part for preamble. The actual stories of the heroes I mentioned would happen after.

Is there any working around it...? ]
In an ancient time, there was six sages, all wise and powerful in their own right. And it was they who built the Temple of Time over the entrance to the Sacred Realm, and who guarded it from the unworthy. though sages appear in many, many other stories through the ages.

Is that right...? That part I can't quite compare to anything I'm familiar with; the closest we have is the Oracle bloodline which communes with the divine.

...Forgive me, I keep interrupting. I suppose I'm easily distracted today.

Many of those I listed already are sages in their own right. Saria was a sage of the forests in ages past, and now many towns and regions bare her name. Rauru is a name whose original owner is all but lost to time, but it still resonates with us today. Fado is said to have been a sage of the wind, who along with another is said to have prayed to keep the power to repel evil in the Master Sword.

The...power to repel evil?

The Master Sword is known as the blade of evil's bane. The sword which seals the darkness. Passed down to each hero the blade chooses, through the blessing of the goddess Hylia.
[ A pause, and then as if reciting something, she adds, ]
"Whether skyward bound, adrift in time, or steeped in the glowing embers of twilight, the sacred blade is forever bound to the soul of the hero."

A spirit resides within the sword, guiding each chosen hero along their path.
