Week 2.

WEEK 2. The new week begins with new surroundings. The city you've been growing accustomed to over the past week is now well behind you as you set out on your journey proper; the terrain still seems rocky and steep here as you move downhill and to the south, dotted here and there with small ponds to the east and rocky outcroppings that you can climb on to the west. There are also large expanses of tall grass here, and the entire route is flanked with tall trees leading off into the forest a short ways. You're more than welcome to explore; just don't stray too far from the group - you wouldn't want to be left behind out here, for any reason. Wild Pokémon are abundant here, as anyone venturing into the tall grass will discover; they aren't inclined to attack you, however, simply watching with dull, dead eyes as you stumble through the area they've come to call home. The trip is difficult, and it's a lot of walking, but it's not unmanageable; fortunately enough, the route you're on should lead you directly to Valor Lakefront, assuming there are no complications along the way. From Thursday and beyond, the route takes a sharp turn west; in front of you lies what's clearly the ocean, large rocks jutting out just offshore tempering the waves. It's safe to go in the water if you so choose - assuming you can swim, that is - and the forested terrain has given way to a large beach with patches of tall grass here and there. Interestingly, there's a house located on the beach; whether it's inhabited or not is difficult to tell. Of course, exploring slightly north of the beach will reveal a path. Maybe it leads somewhere important... There are many intense ancient tales. Ones about islands in the sky, about a great ocean, about a hero who traveled through time...

They all sound incredible. You'll have to tell me more about them sometime.

[ . . . You know, as she looks at the pokeball some more though, standing proper again, ]

... I do hope this one isn't mad. Though I suppose it cannot even feel that.

Honestly, I was kind of wondering that too when I caught my second one. He doesn't seem to be mad? But they can't really feel anything right now, so...

[It's still pretty awkward.]

Though I suppose, from the perspective of being ready to face Saturn or the others... they did seem very robust.

[ They still were able to stand after two of those big skull hits and falling off a rock. Like... wow. ]

That could be useful. My preferred tactics have always been hit hard and fast, but being able to take damage is definitely a good thing.

The ideal warrior would be able to manage both, but of course that isn't always possible.

[ She shakes her head ]

... That said though, Miphanus, are you alright? Perhaps we should wash you off!

[fatalstrikes]

Yeah, that'd probably be a good idea. Wait, are Steel-types weak against water...?

[Uhhhhhhh...]

Well, I doubt he'd get near the water if he wasn't at least okay with it, so it's probably fine.

[hyruglyphics]

No, they aren't- ... I meant more the saliva.

[ . . .

She's going to go to water's edge and urge the Beldum to go into the shallows here. ]

[Yuri stands back to watch, one hand on his hip.]

...So what does "Miphanus" mean?

[ Ah... that's... ]

The full name is Vah Miphanus. I decided to name them after a more ... after a more modern hero, than an ancient one. In the same way that the divine beasts are named.

[fatalstrikes]

Oh yeah? So what's Vah Miphanus like? Have you met them?

[hyruglyphics]

Her name is-- was Mipha.

[ She says this quietly as she uses the salt water to scrub off the Beldum, crouching down here at the shore. It gets her tights damp, but oh well. ]

A zora champion, and one of astounding skill. Her work with a spear, or swimming was nothing short of beautiful. But she also was gentle... quiet. Her true talent and passion was in her ability to heal.

[ was. It makes something rise in her throat for a moment before she exhales and corrects for it. ]

["Was", hmm...]

She sounds like a wonderful person. Healers tend to be, in my experience.

[That's a little lighter, though. It's not quite a joke, but he's not totally serious about it either.]

What's a zora, though?

[ That, she can answer more academically, after she makes a soft noise of agreement - Mipha was wonderful. ]

One of several tribes of Hyrule. The zora are a people of the water, adept at swimming and with forms to match that capability. They're a remarkably long-lived people, and as a result have an air of elegance to them as a general rule.

Huh... We don't have anyone like that where I'm from. What about the other tribes?

[He's also kind of curious what Zelda herself is, since she's got the pointed ears like Krityans but no antennae-like things...]

Apart from the Zora, there are the Gorons, Rito, Sheikah, Gerudo, and Hylians themselves. ... ah, and the Yiga as well, I suppose.

[ She hums, ] ... And the Koroks, though they are somewhat different.

[fatalstrikes]

Wow, that's a lot to keep track of. We've only got three: humans, Krityans, and Entelexeia. Though most people don't know about the Entelexeia.

...Oh, and there are monsters, of course.

[hyruglyphics]

Ah yes, I did not think to list monster tribes. If I did, the list would increase tremendously; bokoblins, moblins, lizalfos... just to name a few.

[ And there, clean! ]

Oh yeah, getting into monster species we'd be here all day...

[Ah, looks like you're done!]

[He doesn't exactly expect a response from the Pokémon, but he's going to keep trying, okay...]

I could actually show you the monster species. The Hyrule Compendium in the Sheikah Slate is still there.
