Week 3.

WEEK 3 The past weekend has given people a lot to take in, and a lot to think about. You're permitted to stay at the resort all day on Sunday, should you so choose; relax and replenish yourselves with regards to sleep at least, seeing as it's much more comfortable than the routes or sleeping on the floor of the Pokémon Center. Commander Saturn is gone as of last night, and no one seems to be coming after you - though there is likely something you'll be aware of by the end of the day... Whatever happens, it's evident that you'll have to leave this place eventually, and Monday should find everyone back on Route 213. It's been repeatedly recommended to move toward Pastoria City; whether you believe the source of said urging to be trustworthy or not, it's still a good idea to move in that direction - a city means supplies, after all, a place to restock and spend a few days. Everyone should be able to find Pastoria City by Tuesday afternoon; it's another unfamiliar place, with various things to see and look at over the course of the next few days. It's far smaller than Veilstone, but it borders up to the ocean by way of a small jetty on the southeastern side of town with a few boats moored to it. Otherwise, it's surrounded by forest, and the main path winds its way lazily through town, weaving between personal residences and a few places of business. Of course, it's still not nearly as lively as it should be; the inhabitants here all seem as devoid of spirit as everywhere else; fortunately, a select few of your companions do seem to be perking up a bit - perhaps that's a good sign, in the end. [She huffs a little.]

If I'd known it would be such a popular spot, I might have come out after dark instead.

[But she doesn't look grumpy. More... Self-conscious, maybe? Her cheeks are tinged a little pink, and she should probably get back in the water, but here she's hanging with Yuri instead.]

[ She wants to assure him - she does - but ... honestly, with how his reaction to Saturn went from murderous to sympathetic and was all over the place last week, perhaps he has a point. But it's presumptuous to assume she is any better? She bites her lip, and she shakes her head. ]

I do not think you are incapable, Bucky. But if you do not feel you are able, then there is no shame in... not. This was not something which was demanded of us.

Good. We’ve gotta keep the people here going somehow.

[She tilts her head, getting her long hair swept up in the ocean water as it rolls past. But then she nods, consideringly.]

Cautious, but not unwise.

[Lowering her body back to the ground gently, she pushes to her knees and shakes her hands out, taking some of the strain off her wrists.]

You're experienced so we can probably skip the first steps, but try coming over here and taking the position you'd use for a push-up: so hands flat on the ground, and balancing on your toes.

[She does that herself to show what she means, both for that, and to demonstrate the change she throws in next.]

Only instead of pumping up with your arms, keep your back as straight and level as possible. You want your body alignment to resemble the flat surface of a coffee table, over an incline.

[She shrugs, as if to say "none taken".]

Either way, it's rare. Mages live in secret, and even among them there are only a few families that truly specialize in producing homunculi.

[She brushes a lock of her over her shoulder, turning to take in the food spread she laid out. Maybe she should make a plate for herself.]

The reveal of your true age just made me recall the only one I'd met in person. Her appearance was deceptively youthful, but she was an Einzbern, so I knew what to expect.

[A smile.] But it seems some people have good genes even without the use of magic, hm?

[ventulus]

Oh, yeah.

[ ... That sure is one sheepish look coming from him at that, and he hands her another popsicle. This time it's watermelon flavored. ]

Silly me, right?

[ventulus]

[ He begins to pick up some of the food. ]

Oh no, not really! It's just...I haven't seen anyone prepare something like this that I know of and it looks so good.

You're pretty talented.

[ Sure, the people he knew who could cook back home were good cooks too but they've never made such a large and complicated-looking spread of food at once. It's amazing! ]

[eudaimonikos]

[Quaver blinks up at Kayneth for a few seconds more until it's clear that he's finished speaking, and then flies away.

.....

You can sort of hear Michael's distant laughter, before Quaver comes back. Luckily, he does not repeat the laughing.]

Wow, this is just terrible. What's a familiar. Explain as much as you want, let's see how much he can remember.

A little more than a sword? But it unlocks or can lock stuff, and can actually do a few more things than a normal sword or key can.

Keyblades are also things that can't be wielded by just anyone.

[ This does see her with two full hands so hopefully that was unwrapped first! That said, she holds it out for Miphanus, who moves it eye up to it and... sucks. Sucking in a lot of fluids and perhaps a little bit of a of the physical thing into the eye to eat it. Or maybe it's the spot next to it? Either way, that's better than the Lickitung who has devoured the whole thing and the stick in one go.

No kidding! Wonder if they've developed it for humans, too.

Yeah, I'm just a normal human person. Pretty sure we don't have magic. We have robots who look like humans, but that's not exactly common, just this one criminal who had a ton. She called them her children.

—that's Janet? She's so big!

[Rin can only blink twice in shock for a moment before drawing closer, hopping excitedly along the stones. Her Mienfoo trails after her, a little slower for trying to copy her moves exactly.]

I was wondering how the evolution process worked, but I didn't think it would be so instantaneous. [Close enough to pet her now, Rin marvels at Cat Janet's size.] Look at her! Her coat is so sleek.

[Rin managed to barter her way into staying in a proper house in exchange for cooking and cleaning, so she hasn't really visited the center much unless she was looking for someone. Two unsupervised pokemon from their group sure caught her interest though, as she was tending the little old lady's herb garden.

What are they...? Deigning it would be fine to take a quick break, Rin put the gardening tools away and hopped the fence, looking to follow the little guys. She manages to catch the two as they enter the Pokemon Center, and from the looks of it, this isn't their first trip.]

Geez, what a mess. I'm surprised you haven't been kicked out of the place.

That was in doubt before?

I at least want to stick around for Flora. If she's really been my partner this whole time, I'm going to help her.

[heritrix]

[She smiles at the compliment, reaching to take a plate for herself.]

You don't get much Chinese food, I take it. Is this your actual first time having it, or have you sampled takeout before?

[heritrix]

That's to be expected, of a princess. Honestly, that's better than I would've expected given Saber's level of expertise.

[That's more of a joke than a criticism. Saber might help clean the fruits and vegetables once in a while, but she's never really gotten the hang of cooking. Rin shakes her head.]

But you said you travelled a lot before all of this, I thought. Did you whisk away a chef with you when you left to handle the cooking?

[...what.]

That sounds slightly concerning, no offense.

Not much, but a hypothesis must be tested - and I have now.

Or that it can be done so freely...?

[ If it can be done for humans, then wow. ]

[ What a reason... She laughs softly, looking at the pool. ]

Good... that sounds like a strong reason to me.
